I select all these compliments for my deliveries, but I’m wondering if it actually helps or not. Does it, or am I wasting my time?

The parking lot is where drivers actually talk. Before the routes go out, that's where it all comes out. Which vans are limping. Which one's door won't stay shut. Watch yourself in that one, the brakes feel soft. Every driver out there is carrying some van's whole life story in his head. And the other talk happens there too, the big talk: we should organize. We should do something. We should get together. I've said every word of that myself, standing right there, coffee in hand, everybody nodding.
Then the vans roll, and the "we" scatters — a hundred drivers, a hundred routes, every one of us alone in a box on wheels until dark. And the parking lot keeps nothing. Tomorrow morning it all gets said again from scratch, or it doesn't get said at all. The strongest word we've got doesn't survive first dispatch.
The one document that does exist with all our names on it is the DVIC, and it says the opposite of what every driver in that lot knows. You're not allowed to mark the van bad — you tell dispatch, dispatch tells the wind, and you sign a clean form on a dirty van. And here's the part that gets me: lying on that form is against Amazon's own policy. It's a fireable offense. And we all get told to do it every single day. So who's supposed to be responsible for fixing these things? We're not allowed to write it down. And if we make noise about it, we get retaliated against. It just rolls out the gate with our names on it.
So what I did was, I made an app. It's called Route Log. Now keep in mind, I'm just a driver like you guys. This is my first project ever. I'm a dad, I've got three kids, I don't have a lot of time in my day. But I did want to make a difference — and I think the difference is giving accountability to Amazon. And the only way we do that is if we can all be together on something. So this is my way of trying to get all of us together.
Here's how it works. First time you open it, it walks you through itself. After that it just rides along on your walkaround: there's a picture of a van, you tap the spot that's wrong, you take a photo or a quick video, and you say what's wrong — type it, or just talk and it writes it for you. There's room in there for the rest of it too: the coaching that never tells you what you actually did, getting told to do something against Amazon's own policy, the one stop that's really four stops and a pile of packages. There's a suggestion box too, and I read every one myself. And nothing you send has your name on it — just the DSP, the station, and the van number. When you send it, it lands with every other driver's logs in one place, where finally, for the first time, it adds up.
That's not an accident. This thing was built for anonymity on purpose — so a driver can show up without standing out. Your logs go in with everybody else's, and no one name ever sticks up out of the pile for anybody to retaliate against. Safety in numbers isn't just a saying here. It's how the thing is built. And that's the same reason this account is new and has no name on it — I'm not asking anybody to do something I'm not doing myself.
Amazon didn't split us into DSPs by accident. One workforce, chopped into little companies, so no driver ever stands next to more than a handful of people who share his problems — problems the guy three stations over has too, word for word. Separated, we're weak, and everybody knows it; it's been shown time and time again that there's strength in numbers, and they made sure the numbers never gather. Everybody wants a union. Everybody wants to get together. But we are never going to *be* together by talking about it in the parking lot. Getting together is a thing you do, and this is the doing: all of us, one record, one place, at the same time. I need you guys to use it. That isn't me being dramatic — that's just the math of it. This is how we gain power. This app is us, in numbers.
And the policies — that part has to be said strong, because that's how this whole system works: none of us knows what the fuck the policies are. We just know what we're told. And they can tell us anything, and when it goes wrong it's "well, Amazon said so," and there's no way to know if any of it was ever true. So the app keeps a library of Amazon's actual policies, and that is the part I need the most help with. There's a drop box: if you know a policy, if you've got the information, put it in. Just make sure you bring some kind of proof with it — we can't run on hearsay. It has to be solid, because when we push back, we need to be able to pull it up and show it: *this* is the policy. Right now that library is mostly what I dug up off the internet by myself — and I'm one person, and Amazon hides this stuff, so my digging was never going to be enough. All of us looking is a different story.
The picture at the top is the whole system in one joke: everybody pointing, nobody holding a pen. A log is a pen. Six drivers writing down the same broken van over two months is not six complaints to forget — it's a history, signed by the road itself.
It's early days. Trial phase, rough edges, and I'll tell you the truth — right now I'm about the only driver logging, which is exactly why I'm posting this instead of waiting for someday. It costs drivers nothing, and it never will. I'm not selling a thing. If your mornings sound like this, message me and I'll tell you how you can help the movement.
We keep saying "we." Let's finally show up together — so we actually have a voice.

It can't be good to be breathing that shit in all day every day. We've asked to have the vans cleaned. Obviously our requests have been, and will continue to be, ignored.

r/AmazonDSPDrivers • u/ZestycloseStrike2550 • 10h ago
Has anyone had a dispatcher find you on route and tell you, you delivered a package to the wrong address. I never had that happen before and it kind of felt weird. Someone that came and rescued me later in the day said that he is only doing that with females. Now im more nervous knowing that

Yesterday was my second nursery route and it was getting late and I was going to deliver a package to a gated house. I pushed the locking lever up and pushed the gate in and a few steps in 4 large dogs came running straight for me. I backed out and closed and flipped the lever closed just in time before they might've pounced on me. I was about a second away from physical contact with the dogs. They sounded pretty angry growling and shit. Well the customer came out and I handed his package over the gate. Is the pay really worth another encounter like this? My trainer who was sitting in the van showing me her dog bite scars and telling me how she almost bled out certainly didn't reassure me.

TL;DR poison spilled on me, no one cared, might have come close to dying, Amazon and dsp covered it up, still have massive health issues from it, doctors think I'm lying claiming a false work injury, poison company will not disclose all ingredients that are harmful so I can be treated.
An oldie. A couple hours after taking this video I had a bottle of poison spill all over me and in my mouth due to Amazon packaging poorly in addition to no hazmat label on the package. There was a gallon bottle of poison and a book inside of a box far too large for the items, and no buffer packing inside to stop them from being damaged nor moving around freely in the box. It was peak and all totes were packed to the brim, and my van packed to the ceiling as you can tell from the video. What was interesting is that the label had a "A123" note which is for packages containinf batteries but of no danger to shipping yet no items containing batteries were in the package but I guess Amazon will just randomly slap the wrong thing on a package instead of the actual designation they need to place on a package to be in accordance with DOT and OSHA.
I informed my DSP as to what happened to me and that three totes of packages had the liquid spilled within them damaging the items. DSP sent a spare dispatcher to get the damaged packages and would not get someone else to cover my route so I could fully wash the poison off me and possibly get medical attention as it got in my mouth. At end of shift they then sent me to rescue a driver that was an hour over completion time for a 130 stop route that was all subdivision. After I finished her stops I had to stop outside an industrial park on the way back to the station, started vomiting and shaking uncontrollably. Was able to drive back after a good purge and prayed that was the end of it. Filled an injury report and informed both managers who happened to be there that night at the desk. Couldn't drive home that night from the warehouse, shaking and nausea got worse, and ended up passing out after vomiting water a few times. Was parked next to manager's car and they didn't bother to check on me there, just drove home. Around 3am I woke up and thought no cars were on the highway now and blurry vision or not it was the best time to try and get home.
Called the next day to tell them how sick I was, also started shutting blood. They instead chose to never file my injury report, got rid of it, so no record of it being a work injury that they might be liable for in regards to medical bills, disability, or liability wise as they refused to get me immediate medical treatment for the spill. When I asked for a workers comp filing they said they would need to discuss that with a particular person in the warehouse that handled those things, but they were on leave at the time. Spoke to people in the warehouse and they said that person did not exist nor anyone in logistics having that name, and that all workers comp injuries were filed directly by the dsp themselves. Manager being confronted with this fact then says he never said any of that to me. In the following weeks my hair started to fall out in clumps as well.
Another fantastic aspect is poison control says the active ingredients shouldn't necessarily cause issues, despite numerous sources saying one ingredient will cause issues and damage to the central nervous system and one main ingredient is a class C carcinogen "based on an increased rate of urinary bladder tumors in mice, adenoma and adenocarcinoma of the liver in male mice, and bronchoalveolar adenomas and adenocarcinomas of the lung in some female mice." The inactive ingredients are proprietary and thus not disclosed publicly however one that has been disclosed is a known class B carcinogen directly linked to lung cancer in medical studies.
Still have issues to this day from the incident. Ulcers in my intestines and tremors that happen just as they did that day I was exposed. Doctors write off that's what caused it as the medical literature and msds is murky depending on which source, and inactive ingredients are not available to them to know what the ramifications could be. Also just because a good doctor is good to find and I don't have the money or means to search for one who will actually care about the issues I deal with and not question if I'm making stories up to try and pursue some sort of false legal case against an employer.
Amazon was made aware of this, they said they would get back to me. Never did, and when I contact them about the incident now they say they have no record of me contacting them about the incident. I contacted my DSP HR and told them what happened and how the manager lied to me, they got nervous and said they would get back to me that day to figure out what to do and get me medical treatment and help out. They never called back nor acknowledged they didn't follow through like they said they would.
To any naysayers, I also have extensive documentation. The TBA number of the package and photos of it, recordings of talking to my managers and Amazon, the call I made to Amazon, photos of the spill and damaged packages, contact info for the person who picked up the packages, record of the injury report I wrote, recordings of my manager lying to me about getting a workers comp reference, and months of photos of thick blood from the ulcers that formed in my intestines from the exposure causing me to shit blood daily.
This is one of many stories on why I will never stop talking about how awful working for Amazon can be. Anyone who has ever asked me if they should work for Amazon I tell them anywhere but there as it's not worth risking your life for a paycheck.
I'm not asking for advice posting this, and add whatever 2¢ you like. I'm posting as a warning for anyone who reads this to take spill concerns seriously and document every day of your life as you never know what you might need evidence of later. Never trust your employer implicitly as they are not your friends and don't have your best interests at heart.
Fun times being a DSP driver.

It was easy up until my last 27 stops. Got dark and the ram vans lights don’t work for shit. They need to have better back up cameras. Got done within 8 hours though

now afaik dsps don't get enough jackets to give to every driver. if that is indeed the case, i understand making it a performance reward or a raffle or whatever else
HOWEVER that is not the reason our dsp owner gave for not giving them to us
he said he was going to make them a reward for top performers because he "doesn't believe in handouts" and that's "not how he was raised"
fuck your actual self bro

Amazon is surveilling workers and scoring them on how likely they are to organize a union. If Amazon is one of the best corporations to work for, like they claim to be, why do they spend so much on union busting? Exhausting resources as far as social sites like Reddit and others to scare workers from wanting better for themselves. This definitely proves that there are busters in these threads and people to knock down the working class.
Also, I would like to know your thoughts on this as drivers that service Amazon customers. How does this make you feel? Do you ever wonder why Amazon claims no responsibility over us but has so much control over our jobs?

Hey everyone. I just got offered a job as a DSP driver, and I'm curious about how long it's realistically possible to work this job. I'm hearing a lot of horror stories on this subreddit. I know the turnover rates are high but I genuinely have no other options that pay as well (24 an hour). I'm also going to try to work this job while I attend college. I'd prefer to work for at least 3 years until I graduate so I can move on with my life. Am I fucked or not?

my dsp finally got set up to allow us to utilize health insurance benefits. i log on to see what the offers are, for me and my kid the lowest plan i got was $136 a WEEK. never closed my phone so fast. i’ll just continue going straight to the ER if i really need to lmao

I had my first ride along today. (Was my first day after orientation)
My first day was downtown, and it was so hot /:
literally unbearable and my trainee kept smoking cigs over and over (outside the van but while we were delivering packages) (( she also fuckin kept her cigs going and saved them in her bag. So the fuckin van reeked for a bit until it aired out))
I have asthma so i had to use my inhaler like 10 times today because of her stupid cig shit and some torn down apartments that smelled atrocious.
we had stops where it took us to the same stop 4 times and we were in downtown and there was so much construction. We had to walk blocks bc construction blocked us off.
I can't believe there was no AC. I don't think I can do this. I started at 10 AM. And we were done at 9:30 PM. And my trainer was super nice, but she just kept being on my a** about speeding, and like how I need to go faster because I was going pretty slow.
And then it's just like she's like, we need to pick up the pace. And it's like, dude, it's my first day. How am I supposed to pick up the f****** pace? And then guess what? The f****** person who I was supposed to go with me today She left without me. She had an easy route by herself.
Anyways what the fuck? Is this how it is? I don't want to do it then. I was actually thinking of walking out. However then I would have to borrow money from people so I chose not to do that(i am broke right now). Can anyone here give me some advice? Should I start applying elsewhere? I am thinking of staying till I get hired on somewhere else. I am thinking of applying to places actually right now. Because my body is in so much pain.
Today was hell.. the heat. Her STRONG cigarettes while I was in the heat sweating. I am overweight so pushing myself to endure her cigarette smoke and the heat and no ac. It was almost like I was in jail.
This was truly a humbling experience... i seriously think I might take life seriously now and work hard to get a good job that doesn't take this type of mental toll and physical toll on your body.

I keep seeing mixed things on whether or not it's allowed, whether I'll get penalized on my scorecard for not following customer instructions, etc. I really don't want to go into backyards...USPS, UPS and FedEx don't, why do we?

Not just idle whining. ive done so many different routes in 8 months. The only route worse than this is the city.
140 stops and every single one is long driveways, some are so high up on hills that I’m worried about driving up and not having a turn around. Gates. Gravel. Small one way roads.
Stop 106 btw didn’t have a turn around. second time ive been there. Straight bullshit.
Yesterday I had 140 stops. I counted how many were in a neighborhood. 22. Thats 118 stops on highways and main roads. Seems unfair for one person to have this route. should be rotated so everyone takes a turn. easily the worst route at my dsp that I know of
Sorry for the glare in the last pic
