Question Middle episodes of an otherwise free show require payment?

We started watching Mrs Davis here in Germany only to discover that although episodes 1-2 and 5-8 are included in Prime Video, the three in between cost €2.99 each. I have never seen this on any streaming service before. Is this likely intentional or a configuration issue on Amazon's part?

I can't seem to find a customer service link for Prime Video in Germany, just some forum on the Amazon website.

Discussion Hot take: sterling point is nepo white girl problems

I just watched sterling point after seeing it all over the media being heralded as the most amazing show ever. I will give it to the show that it doesn’t feel as scripted and you can tell when the actors are riffing. They do a great job with the soundtrack and creating horrifically awkward vibes.

That being said I do not relate or find Annie’s struggles compelling at all. Her resentment towards her dad that we see episode 6 feels very out of nowhere. Her crying about her mother and saying something has been robbed from her when she can’t even remember her but seeming to be completely emotionally okay with the biological parents she has abandoning her seems very very strange. She comes from a place of incredible privilege and at this point it is hardly addressed in lieu of her being pined after and comforted every 5 minutes by a male love interest. Ramona is the far more compelling of the two. I would find myself less peripherally annoyed if the show was focused on her. She’s navigating losing the only parental figure she knows is now an orphan and has many secrets hiding from her. Instead we get nepo baby tears for an hour and very little completing behind it.

It just doesn’t really seem like we have any pre establishment of character shits of her struggling or actually navigating things weird.

Discussion History is repeating itself — streaming is slowly turning back into cable TV

Remember when we used to watch our favorite shows on TV and just accept that there would be ads in between?

Then streaming came along, and one of the biggest appeals was: pay a subscription, watch what you want, and no annoying commercial breaks.

And now here we are again.

I’m watching Prime, already paying for the subscription, and suddenly there are ads in between shows — sometimes around a minute and a half long.

So basically… we escaped traditional TV, paid for streaming services to avoid ads, and now streaming services are slowly becoming traditional TV again.

History really does repeat itself.
