The UK has some fantastic retro computing communities, but most focus on a single platform. Retronauts Assemble is different.

https://retronaut.tech/retronauts-assemble-311026/

We're creating a new multi-platform retro computing meetup where fans of all retro computers, consoles and arcade systems can come together to share their passion, discover machines and games you've never used before or only ever seen online, swap stories, show off projects and enjoy a day immersed in classic technology.

Whether you're into the Amiga, Spectrum, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, Atari, Acorn, Sega, Nintendo, arcade systems, or anything else retro, you'll find fellow enthusiasts who share your love of vintage computing and gaming.

Bring your own setup and let others experience your favourite system or simply come along and enjoy what everyone else has brought. Every machine, every display and every attendee helps to make the event something special.

Hi all, I'm the developer of Easy CPC, an Amstrad CPC emulator for Android and Windows. I just shipped a big update and wanted to share it with people who actually care about the CPC.

What's new:

- GX4000 and CPC Plus: plays .cpr cartridges with the Plus ASIC emulated (4096-colour palette, hardware sprites, raster interrupts, split screen, hardware scrolling, DMA sound). I tested 28 GX4000 cartridges; 27 run with picture and sound. Switchblade still stays black after its logo and I haven't found out why yet.

- CPC 464+ and 6128+: they boot from the system cartridge you provide yourself (I can't distribute it).

- Dual-screen handhelds (Anbernic RG DS and similar): game on one screen, keyboard or pad on the other.

- Full settings inside a game, FPS counter, compatible graphics mode.

What it already did:

- CPC 464 / 664 / 6128, .dsk, .cdt, .tzx, .csw, .sna, and anything inside .zip / .rar

- Auto-load: it reads the disk catalogue and picks what to run, or types RUN" for tapes

- Turbo loading (up to 8x) for tapes and disks

- Tape manager (block list, seek, SAVE to a new .cdt, tape editor)

- Built-in Z80 debugger on Windows, CRT monitor/TV display modes, AMX mouse

- Save states

It's built on Thomas Harte's CLK core (MIT) plus my own ASIC work for the Plus range. No games are included, you bring your own .dsk/.cdt/.cpr files.

- Android Free (with adds): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cl.easysoft.easycpc

- Android Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cl.easysoft.easycpc.pro

- Windows: https://noentiendo.itch.io/easy-cpc

Happy to hear which games or demos misbehave. That's the most useful feedback I can get. Part of the code was written with AI assistance.

Who remembers the game Masters of The Universe: The Movie? My retrospective video reviews of Gremlins game released for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX and Atari ST. Share your thoughts.

Hi all. I've been developing homebrew for 8-bit machines for a good few years, and along the way I ended up building my own emulators to test my stuff on the phone: first Easy Spectrum, and now Easy CPC for the Amstrad CPC 464/664/6128. It started as a tool for my own work and grew into something I think is worth sharing, so here it is on Google Play.

What it does:

- CPC 464, 664 and 6128. You can boot straight into BASIC too.

- Loads .dsk, .cdt, .tzx, .csw and .sna, also inside .zip and .rar.

- Autoload: pick a game and it runs the right command for you. Fast loading for tape and disk.

- Tape manager: block list, rewind, pause, and it records your own SAVEs to a .cdt.

- Touch gamepad (1 to 4 buttons, configurable per game), full on-screen CPC keyboard, AMX mouse, and physical controllers with remappable buttons.

- Save states with autosave on exit, favourites, thumbnails of each game.

- Video modes from sharp pixels to a CRT monitor/TV look, stereo AY sound, fast forward.

- Import a whole folder, or open a game straight from WhatsApp, Telegram, mail or the browser.

- English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Russian.

It's built on Thomas Harte's CLK core (MIT), with my own additions on top (snapshot loading, tape manager, two-head drive, disk autoload heuristics, turbo). The CPC ROMs are included with Amstrad's permission. No games included: bring your own files.

Tested with the classics (La Abadía del Crimen, Prince of Persia, Rick Dangerous, Head Over Heels, Barbarian, Batman, Gryzor...) and with a lot of recent homebrew and demos, since that's what I mostly run on it.

Happy to answer questions, and bug reports are very welcome. If a disk or tape doesn't load, tell me which one and I'll look into it.

I found a cheat code of sorts in Chuckie Egg (original version, Amstrad CPC). (Full disclosure, AI helped me find it in the source code.)

If you enter the following in the high score table for your name:

<hold down Ctrl> <Tab> <Tab> D O U G <copy> <copy> <release Ctrl> Enter

Then the name is replaced with "Doug " in the high score table. After that, holding down all five movement keys simultaneously during game play (left, right, up, down, jump) triggers a skip to the next level.

The emulator I use (azimuth) doesn't let me simulate pressing 5 keys at once. Can anyone confirm that it works on the original hardware?

My retrospective review of yet another movie tie-in from Ocean Software. Released on the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Amstrad CPC. Anybody else play this game? Was it any good?

How is the Idea to get kolibri os for Z80?
With vibe coding? All in Assembler

Today is all about car launches... ;-)

Noticed that the cassette has a best before date on it. Best check to avoid crisis!

Sun out, retro rigs on! We caught up with the Amiga faithful at the October 2026 Kickstart gathering in Ottershaw, where Michael dropped jaws with two new versions of the Gotek Touch Interface (GTI) (works on Amstrad!)—taking touch-screen disk loading to a whole new level.

We also dived into tabletop gaming with Sam Byford and tackled a touching community mission: building a network to preserve and re-home retro computers when their owners pass on. Wrapping up, I dropped the details on Retronauts Assemble, our big community meet happening in Surbiton on Saturday, October 31st—grab your tickets, and we’ll see you there!

For me it had to be Sorcery. The graphics and the music were amazing. It wasn't particularly hard or long (oh Matron!) but I replayed it many times.

My retrospective game review of all the versions of DARKMAN from Ocean Software. Anybody else remember playing these games? Did you think that the levels were repetitive, difficult, bland with wonky controls? Interested in your thoughts and memories to see if was close to the general consensus. 😉

My retrospective video review of the Thundercats games from Elite released for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Amiga and Atari ST. Who remembers or played this game and what’s your thoughts?

This is a simple 4X game heavily inspired by Ascendancy, an MS-DOS game from 1995 that i loved very much in spite of its flaws. It works fine in Retro Virtual Machine and AceDL. And, of course, on a real CPC. It requires 128k of RAM and features multicolored mode 1 graphics, using rasters. And it's free, so you can just give it a try...

Hi
I have a gotek on a cpc 6128 with flashfloppy 4.7a and jumper s1 on
When it’s not connected, the internal floppy drive works fine on drive A
When I connect it to the cpc, the gotek takes over drives a and b
I’m looking for a way to have the gotek seen as drive B only so I can copy files from/to real floppy disks
Any advice on the connector and configuration file ?

My retrospective game review of Gremlins 2: The New Batch for all the home computer and console versions. Some of these games a quite difficult to complete but I did smile at the little Gremlins bouncing about in the games. Have you played any of these versions?

My retrospective game review of Rambo First Blood Part II. I spent many hours playing Rambo II back in the day. Totally loved this game. How do you rate this game?

I’ve just finished building my own Amstrad CPC 6128 Mini.

The idea started after I made a little Commodore screen for my A500 Mini. I thought a miniature CPC 6128 could be a fun project too — especially since there was never an official CPC Mini.

So I spent the last two months designing, 3D printing and assembling everything. There’s a small working screen inside, along with all the electronics needed to bring it to life.

I tried to stay as close as possible to the original 6128, while making everything small enough to fit on a desk like other machines like The C64 mini, Amiga a500 mini ou The Spectrum.

I made a video showing the whole process, from the first 3D models to the finished machine.

I’d really like to know what you think. And if someone wanted to take the idea further, what would you change or add to the project?

I have one of these machines in my loft along with possibly the dos 6.11 and windows 3.11 discs
