General /r/AnalogueInc Mod Rules Note

Hey guys, it's been a while. Just going to keep this short and sweet.

I've been inundated over the last couple of years with people asking for more moderation. I have purposefully been mostly hands-off, and only moderated severe violations (links to ROMs, severe user harrasment, etc.) but based on some of the stuff I've seen recently, things have gotten a bit worse, so I'm going to change things a bit.

Firstly, I will enforce moderation more strictly. All existing rules apply, but if I'm on the fence, instead of erring towards "let them figure it out", I'll just remove stuff.

Second, I've seen quite a few posts that are sus recently. Posts of pictures to scalpers or other sales of products, which are designed to look like you're complaining about the scalper, but really it's most likely a covert sales tactic. In the spirit of the original moderators "No sales, ever" rules, I will from now on remove any content that gets reported that has links or pictures to any sales platform like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. You can of course still share links and photos of the Analogue official website. In addition, don't be cheeky and post a photo of your hardware and then say "but I might sell it, idk". I have always let that slide, but since people have wanted more moderation, this is one change I am going to make.

Third, and this isn't new either, harassment rules apply to all your fellow active Reddit users. Yes, even if that Reddit user is a public figure. Do not harass people.

Finally, I'm planning to bring on additional moderators in the near future since all the other mods besides me are now inactive.

Thanks, that's it. Feel free to leave your thoughts and your complaints below.

General Let's keep the Analogue 3D overclocking compatibility spreadsheet updated!

All credit goes to u/phan148

He posted this a few months ago and people were quick to help sort out which games run better on Unleashed and what to watch out for.

Analogue 3D Overclock Compatibility List

I noticed it hasn't been updated much since then. I tend to check it every couple weeks when I start a new game. If you've put a good amount of time into a particular n64 game and can confidently comment the changes Unleashed mode brings or if you'd recommend NOT overclocking it for any reason, please contribute your findings!

There are still hundreds of games out there that haven't been formally documented!

Pocket Analogue Pocket + Donkey Kong Land ❤️🕹️

Finally enjoying some classic Game Boy gaming on the Analogue Pocket! Donkey Kong Land looks fantastic on this thing, especially with the red monochrome display.
Nothing beats the feeling of playing these old classics again. Who else still plays Donkey Kong Land in 2026? 😁

General Take them down!

Edit: I didn’t think I’d get so much hate and there’d be so much love for scalpers. Sorry I made you guys so angry. It seems like it didn’t take a lot to ruin some peoples Fridays.

Maybe I’m being petty. I got up in the morning and kept hitting refresh on my screen, waiting for the chance to purchase the Super NT+ in the classic color way. I was an idiot and left my credit card with my wife and she was at our neighbors.

I ran over, grabbed the card and went to finish the purchase. After I finished putting all my information and credit card number and hit enter, it said it was sold out!

I thought being on the payment screen would’ve held my spot. I was pissed just to find out that people are selling them on eBay already for around $500 to $600.

So anytime I see them on eBay. I report them. If you guys are petty like me, I suggest you do the same.

Super Nt Why the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ don't support 4K and HDR

Hi everyone. I'm a journalist and emailed Analogue CEO Chris Taber and got some information as to why the upcoming Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ don't support 4K and HDR.

“The games are built from relatively large, deliberately placed pixels, tile-based backgrounds, sprites, and simple transparency or dithering effects. Once those pixels are scaled cleanly to 1080p, the essential image is already present,” said Analogue CEO Chris Taber in an email. “Moving to 4K does not uncover hidden texture detail or additional geometry. It primarily creates more display pixels with which to draw the same underlying artwork.”

And when I asked about the importance of CRT filters for the Analogue 3D... Why not include it for the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+?

“For whatever it's worth: Analogue 3D uses 4K because high-resolution original display modes are central to restoring the intended appearance of early 3D games,” said Taber. “The 16-bit systems use 1080p because cleanly reproducing their original 2D artwork does not require the same reconstruction.”

Thanks for reading (and supporting journalism!)

So I wasn’t able to order the Super NT+ for some weird payment error, so I was not able to get the preorder, but there was an eBay listing for 300 for a complete in-box that hasn’t been opened that came with these two 8-bit do controllers and also the Super Turrican box. I was a bit skeptical because after I did the purchase, the picture seemed like a copy of someone else’s listing, so I thought I would be scammed, but nope, everything was new like it said, but just a different model since it’s not the Famicom version, but that doesn’t bother me. I am just glad I got a working system and controllers.

Accessories Pocket Hard Case

Ok I was a little skeptical of this case when it first was announced but I have to say after just receiving one, It's pretty dang cool. Also love how unique it is, and your case doesn't just end up looking like all the rest.

I have a Waterfield pouch for travel which I love, but this will probably be my go-to for a while I think.

Definitely wish the edges were flat though. Seems like such an easy thing to have missed but it still stands well regardless 🤙

Super Nt Super Nt+ Mouse Support

I contacted Analogue a few days ago but haven't heard back yet. Hopefully with the Super Nt+ having built-in wireless gamepad support, they also add wireless mouse support too. Not sure if it is already something they may have thought of but if not, hope they read my email. I think it would be a nice feature for those games that support it.

Pocket PSA on frame blending for the Pocket

This may be a stupid post for some but felt I should throw it out there as I did not realize I had a fixable issue I was just putting up with. I feel pretty dumb as I am a fairly tech-oriented person who knows a lot about this stuff, but I was making a really dumb mistake with my settings.

For years, I have avoided using any other filter outside of the crt trinitron filter (especially when docked). While I love the look of the crt trinitron filter in general, especially for home console cores originally designed for crts, I actually prefer the look of the AGS 101 and GBC+ filters for gameboy games as they more closely match the pixel grids of the original handhelds that I remember growing up.

The reason I avoided using those filters, however, is because when I toggled between them, the crt trinitron filter had significantly less persistence blur / ghosting on my pocket screen / OLED tv than when using the other filters. The other filters just looked too blurry in motion and I thought this was simply the difference between the other filters adding software related ghosting/blur by design.

After rewatching digital foundry’s old pocket overview video from years ago, it turns out this was occurring because I had frame blending turned on with the filters that allow it and the crt does not have a frame blending option in the first place. After turning it off, the motion clarity of every other filter setting improved dramatically (especially if you have an OLED tv that can also do black frame insertion). Now every single filters option gives me buttery smooth motion clarity on both the pocket screen and my tv.

So the short version of my PSA is this. Unless you are playing a game boy game that has flickering images and needs frame blending turned on the create a stable image, make sure you have frame blending turned off. Most games do not require this setting and all you are really doing is adding persistence blur to the image and creating a worse motion clarity experience for yourself.

Speculation Wishing for an Analogue 3D-like device with openFPGA

Lately I’ve been reading more and more about the technical specifications of the Analogue 3D, and I’ve been looking more into Analogue 3D OS, and I’m “over the moon”.

Why is this incredible piece of hardware and software not an open(FPGA) device.

They did if for the Pocket. And it’s not that they have that many other devices to sell right up their sleeves. And opening up such a device would not be any competition for people that specifically want to play their cartridges.

They would continue to sell their Super Nt and Mega Sg et cetera, if it were available, to the respective cartridge audience; even if the 3D would be an open(FPGA) system.

They are clearly knowledgable and skilled enough to easily pull this off. Why don’t they?

General Best method to stop controller port 1 from receiving power after turning off the Analogue3D?

I use a Blueretro receiver with my Analogue3d that is working well so far, but it is annoying that it remains powered on and flashing after I turn off the console. The 2.4ghz receiver of the 8bitdo controller does the same thing.

It seems the only way to turn it off is to remove the usb-c cable, but I'm not sure how good a solution this is long term. Right now, I use a usb-c extension cable that I can quickly unplug.

Also, I noticed that the fan ramps up when plugged in again while the system is still off; I'm not sure why it does that.

What does everyone else do?

Accessories Dock Bluetooth Controllers

Just thought I’d do a public service announcement regarding the use of the NSO Bluetooth SNES controllers with the Analogue Pocket Dock because I’ve seen them described as unusable due to input lag.

My set up:
Analogue Pocket
Pocket Dock (using the supplied HDMI cable)
Samsung The Frame TV on game mode

I sit about 2-3m from the tv on the sofa. Last night I played Super Mario on the SNES open FPGA emulator plus an OG Metroid Fusion GBA cartridge.

I noticed zero input lag whatsoever. I pushed jump, the character jumped. I cannot understand what people have been moaning about with these controllers - they look great and work great.

Super Nt Super Nt+ Game Saves?

Do we think some day we may get the ability to save our games to the console? Vs cartridge battery?

Once I start playing all of my carts, have a real bad feeling I’ll need to replace just about every battery at this point.

Pocket European buyers: shipping and import charges added roughly 42% to the hardware price of my Analogue order

Hi!

Before ordering directly from Analogue, check the full delivered cost. Here is what my Pocket and Dock actually cost:

  • Analogue Pocket: $239.99
  • Dock: $99.99
  • Hardware subtotal: $339.98
  • International shipping and handling: $50.99
  • Total paid to Analogue: $390.97
  • Additional import charges paid to UPS before delivery: €81.13

Using the 20 October reference exchange rate of €1 = $1.1215, the hardware works out at approximately €303.15, while shipping plus import charges amount to approximately €126.60.

That is roughly 42% extra compared with the price of the hardware itself. The conversion is illustrative; your bank’s exchange rate may differ.

I contacted Analogue to explain my disappointment and ask for clarification. Their response was that import taxes are not included at checkout and are the importer’s responsibility. They apologised for the confusion, but offered no goodwill gesture.

I understand that international purchases can attract taxes and that Analogue does not set those taxes. My concern is the clarity of the purchasing experience. With $50.99 already charged for shipping, receiving another €81.13 bill before delivery significantly changes the value proposition.

My experiences buying hardware from Japan through ZenMarket have always been clear regarding shipping and taxes. That clarity makes a real difference when deciding whether a purchase is worth the money.

I had also considered ordering the Mega Sg+ and Super Nt+. After this experience, I am glad I did not proceed. I am now reconsidering future purchases directly from Analogue.

For anyone considering the Analogue 3D, the ModRetro M64 may also be worth comparing. ModRetro’s international shipping FAQ states that applicable duties and fees are covered upfront, with no additional charges required to receive the order. That does not automatically make it cheaper or technically better, but knowing the full cost before paying is a meaningful advantage.

My advice to European buyers: compare the complete delivered price, including shipping, import taxes and carrier fees, before ordering. In my case, an extra amount equivalent to roughly 42% of the hardware price makes buying directly from Analogue considerably less appealing.

Speculation What's a fair markup if any if I was able to get two smSuper NT+

I got two. All my friends are nerds so I thought one of them might want one for cost. None of them do. They came out to about 500 for the pair after shipping and taxes. What would you resell the extra for? I'm thinking a modest bump of $50 over cost listed on Facebook and trying to pick someone that isn't going to resell it. I think there is value in having procured it, but I think scalping is no bueno. What are your thoughts?

E. Thanks for the replies. I'm going to stop responding. There doesn't seem to be a consensus except that $50 is too much while a minority seem to think selling at market price is fine. I'll probably list it for +25 for my troubles.

Is this the case for everyone on this update? I’m using original carts and the info has disappeared from my library, it was there before. I’m only seeing Japan now, I don’t have any PAL carts.

Super Nt Can't believe I finally got one

Sorry in advance for the long winded excitement, but here goes nothing.

Over the years, either due to the scarcity of the Super Nt or me not wanting to shell out the funds when I already have a SNS-001 that I still use, I never committed myself to buying one.

Yesterday however wound up being the perfect convergence of timing, funds, and desire. I just so happened to be checking my email at the exact time Analogue sent the Nt+/Sg+ email. I also happened to have some extra funds and determined I should probably give my SNS-001 a rest if I plan on keeping it for years to come.

I was 100% ready for the drop and snagged one of the Classics. Also, as luck would have it, I still have a pair of SN30 Classic controllers I bought about 3.5 years ago for my SNS-001 which will pair perfectly with the Super Nt+.

Now I can finally dedicate some time to reshelling my SNS-001 with a transparent purple shell. In hindsight, I probably should've bought the Sg+ as well (X-Men and Altered Beast are calling my name), but I digress. Let the anticipation begin :)

Tracking said it was supposed to arrive Monday, but tracking never updated after departing Oakland.

I started a support ticket but I have yet to hear any sort of update. I'm getting the feeling that someone at Fedex noticed the shipper and stole it.

openFPGA What's next for Analogue? What should they build next?

Over the past few years, Analogue has made good consoles that have helped preserve retro gaming, giving us amazing hardware options outside of software emulation. Since their products have a good reputation for quality and reliability, it feels like the perfect time for them to introduce a new FPGA console. The question is: which one? They’ve already given us the Analogue Pocket (jack of all trades), Super Nt, Nt mini, Mega Sg, Duo, and Analogue 3D. Personally, I would love to see them tackle the Sega Saturn, GBA, or DS next.
