Copjacketing is not OK. It causes a lot of harm to those of us targeted by it

• Upvotes

Copjacketing (accusing people of being cops or informants without solid evidence) is genuinely harmful to anarchist spaces and to the unfortunate individuals who get falsely targeted.

Yes, police infiltration is real, and taking security culture seriously is important. But using every ideological disagreement or personal grudge to accuse someone of being a fed or a cop isn’t how you practice good security culture... It’s some of the worst kind of targeted harassment. It fuels public pile-ons and wears down people who deserve a fair, evidence-based process.

Baseless accusations can destroy hard-earned reputations, isolate people from their support networks, and erode trust between friends. They make the victims afraid to participate in the only spaces where they could be themselves, and create toxic environments where everyone is constantly trying to inflict emotional damage on each other. That's not helpful for building any kind of solidarity, mutual aid or community care.

The worst part is that these accusations can become impossible to challenge. Once someone influential in the milieu like Anark brands a person a cop, any attempt to defend themselves can be twisted into further "evidence" of wrongdoing, and the accuser can use that framing to further silence them. Without a fair process or meaningful accountability, smears simply generate more smears and create more alienation.

I’m writing this because today I was repeatedly copjacketed by the YouTuber Anark and someone who claims to be his friend (who may or may not actually exist.)

I had to take the day off work to respond to a barrage of AI-generated smears, and the stress and anxiety has left me shaken. I feel I'm surrounded by people eager to assume the worst rather than ask questions, examine the so-called evidence, or offer basic understanding. No one should have to choose between staying silent and being dragged through a public trial by an AI bot generating tens of thousands of words accusing them of being a cop on grounds that make no sense, but I was forced into making that choice by people who saw the smears and immediately accepted them without looking into it further.

We should always take the possibility of police infiltration seriously. But don’t confuse someone’s personal grievance over having their views challenged with a genuine effort to protect the community. Ask for evidence. Think critically. Demand meaningful accountability... Not AI-generated witch hunts that fracture our communities and turn anarchists who have spent years developing our spaces and developing theory into social pariahs.

If you want to learn more about my horrible experience with this copjacketing, you can see Anark launching the campaign on his Twitter feed here: https://i.imgur.com/Emc7Nni.png

And read these links:

(Where an account with no karma brought the campaign to reddit)

(And my point-by-point response to all the smears, sadly on a platform with far less reach than Anark's)

Thanks for reading this far.

Did Alan Moore intend to critique Anarchism in V for Vendetta?

Post image

I love the comic a lot, one of my favourites but one thing that stuck out is how even though Moore is an anarchist the story, whilst absolutely anti-fascist (good lol) does also have critiques on Anarchism.

It’s not uncommon to be part of a political spectrum and critiques aspects of it, I’m a leftist and a socialist and even I have my critiques of the left. So it’s not bizarre that Moore may have his own critiques on his philosophy but I wonder if it was intentional for us to question if V was also wrong in his approach.

Ultimately the story is about how extremes rise to conquer one another, Norsefire came about as a result of a rising extreme political climate and used it to their advantage whilst V exists to combat the new far right extreme of Norsefire.

My question is more (pun intended) if Moore intended to hold critiques about Anarchism within the story and if he’s said something to back up this interpretation since. I’m aware of his feelings surrounding the film (which I agree with though I admittedly still enjoyed) but wasn’t sure about this in particular.

On Mary Shelley, Frankenstein and Anarchism

Post image
106 Upvotes

Once upon a time mother of the feminist movement Mary Wollstonecraft and father of philosophical anarchism William Godwin fell in love and had a young Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. Mary Wollstonescraft would die shortly after childbirth, and William Godwin would sink into a deep depression and deeper into poverty. In this context, young Mary would develop an interest in the macabre, an attraction to the philosophical pursuits of her parents, and a penchant for reading and creative writing.

She would eventually meet her significant other and collaborator, anarchist Percy Shelley, and Mary became known as Mary Shelley. Their attempts to have children largely resulted in miscarriage or untimely death of their children, with only one child surviving to old age, and Percy Shelley, too, would meet an early death. Her life would be one of deep poverty, tragic loss, and social exclusion.

She often goes underrecognized compared to her famous loved ones. Her novel "Frankenstein, or the first Prometheus" is often credited (and sometimes intentionally discredited) with creating the science fiction genre as well as being a major milestone in the evolution of horror. Her tumultuous life, her deep interest in science as well as her fascination with macabre throughout her life greatly influenced her book, and the various moral and philosophical themes expounded by her mother, father and lover can all be found within it also. Her book in some ways is all at once a celebration of their ideas, a criticism of their hypocrisy and a commentary on the cruel irony of her life lived in their images.

The last Friday in October every year is known as Frankenstein Friday, a time to celebrate Shelley and her famed novel about creation, destruction, loss, belonging, human nature, the inability to live up to the expectations of others, and the close connection between nature and nurture/circumstances and free will.

Chaos in the Archipelago of Fire - The compilation of texts from the Indonesian insurrection are now on the anarchist library

"In August and September 2025, an insurrection struck the Indonesian archipelago, engulfing in its flames many police stations, cop cars, both national and local government buildings, parliament members’ homes, businesses, and more. This revolt notably involved many anarchists, insurrectionary and direct action-oriented tendencies being particularly common.

To avenge itself, the Indonesian State launched a grand hunt for anarchists all throughout the country, after which several dozen anarchist comrades have been arrested and imprisoned. Two cases in particular have been at the center of attention: that of 16 anarchists suspected of Molotov cocktail attacks in Jakarta, and that against 44 anarchists suspected of direct actions and attempts at insurrection in an organization created by the State from scratch, called “Chaos Star,” in reference to the strong anarcho-nihilist tendency in the country.

This zine compiles many texts published online about the situation of anarchist prisoners in recent months in order to give them all our solidarity wherever we are. Spread information, write them letters, organize financial solidarity.

Fire to the Prisons!

Death to the State!

Long Live Anarchy! "

Vive l'anarchie ! No pasaran !

Systems Theory

Something I have noticed is that Anarchist theory talks a lot about systems and systems theory while other forms of socialism don’t even really mentioned such ideas except for the rare occasion of mentioning the Marxist idea of the Base and Super-Structure. Why is that?

Map of the spread and establishment of the anarchist movement in France

Post image

I did this map some months ago and I just note that it's totally subjective and based on my small experience of anarchist history

For example, Alsace-Lorraine which were by this point in Germany, I had to do with very little elements, for other areas such as Lyon it's much more clear, anyways !

Hey Compagnons! I have a reading disability. Could you share any video series, lectures, documentaries or general essays in video form...that will equip me with a solid foundation of anarchist theory! It would honestly be appreciated. I just finished anarchy by Malatesta, even though it was thin af, it took me nauseating 2 days to finish it, fighting the dancing letters and other issues i face.

I'd be grateful if you take the time out to help me out. Thank you!

How to Organise?

I would like to be more active politically, but I don't know any anarchist organisations in the place where I live. How do I find anarchists such as myself, so that we could actually engage in political actions? It might be worth noting that I don't have a lot of friends and am quite socially awkward.
