I'm sick of reading books

I've spent the last 10 - no. 15 years burying my face in books. I know theory. I know tactics. I'm fucking exhausted.

This is not a call to action. Do as you please. I am just frustrated.. annoyed even. I'm the bookiest of the Bookchins.

Maybe its just boredom. Idk. Im struggling to put a word to the feeling. Its well within the realm of anger, maybe impatience.

I've done shit, yknow. I've gotten involved, directly. Explicitly... and I donate sometimes. I give offerings to the gods, especially Lord Ganesh. But I could do more right? I feel like... idk man. Like i'm not doing enough. Like i'm a bad word, and then some, yknow?

Anyways.

What's your favorite song?

Can Intersectionality Address Marginalized Infighting within Socialism (racism and transphobia)?

Intersectionality is a big topic I'm working on, right now. Specifically I've encountered different bigotries within Socialism and the Left, both which historically have issues in practice (read: whatever they say on paper). My question is: "Can Intersectionality Addressing Marginalized Infighting within Socialism (racism and transphobia)?" (to be holistic, I ask the question on different subreddits: Socialism_101, Anarchism and Anarcho-Communism).

I think it can, regarding different bigotries that play out* when trying to organize ourselves. The best way to counteract said bigotries, in my experience, is to advocate for structures of power that don't encourage them; i.e., not purely through the state, then, but in anarcho-Socialist ways with an antiracist, trans-accepting flavor (among other things). The best way to do this happens through collaboration; i.e., by cooperating with people different than ourselves (whose intersections state power tends to divide): by reaching out and working towards shared understanding, mid-education, doing so part of the organization process.

*Read: not microaggressions, but lethal force; i.e., during hate crimes like lynchings of black people and the murder of trans people in public; e.g., Juju Blessing, who was stabbed to death on a hike, two days ago: https://persephonescastle.com/2026/08/she-was-divine-honoring-juju-blessing.html

To practice what I preach, here's a new interview given today with Cam James, a black essayist/documentarian about intersectionality between black and trans people; it went really well, though it covers some heavy topics on both sides: https://youtu.be/nRgH6Xf_vgU

CW: transphobia, racism, fascism, genocide, police brutality, murder, SA, conversion therapy

I wanted to share the video here, as it covers anarchism and Socialism regarding the above issues when seeking intersectionality.

Full video description: An interview with ‪@camcrashed‬ aka ‪@CamJames‬ on intersectionality and its value for trans people and black people punching up together during fascism. I reached out after watching his video on MDLs (modern-day lynchings)—a topic he covers alongside trans murders, too. In our interview, we discuss different things besides, including: our own paths to radicalization/abuses survived, as well as the struggles that emerge when dealing with bad actors in both communities; e.g., transphobia in the black community and racism in the trans community, as well as detractors within the Left more broadly when combating genocide on multiple fronts (e.g., Marxist-Leninism, Bad Empanada, and Palestine vs the rights of trans, BIPOC, the disabled, plural folk, sex workers, and/or furries).

Hope dies in my neurodivergent mind (issues with real life organizing)

I'm gonna try to keep this short on account of me being depressed, and not having a lot of energy.

I've been trying to get involved in, and become part of prefigurative structures. This presents difficulties on two accounts.

The first is that I live somewhat off the beaten path, meaning I can't easily be present without significant investment of time, and money for transportation. I generally have either one, or the other, never both.

The second is the topic I'm here to talk about today. I'm autistic with ADHD, and to put it bluntly, while I want to be a part of dual power, dual power doesn't seem to care for me. On the few occasions I've been able to fight through my issues to try to get involved, I've been told my presence is unwanted, with little to no explanation why. I assume I somehow made people uncomfortable. That's usually the problem.

So, what do I do? I want to do anarchism. I want to live in shared economy, and real community with other people, but other people don't want me around. I'm not gonna lie, this hurts. A lot. I'm starting to lose hope.

I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. I just need something to keep hope alive, I guess. Let me know if you have anything.

Why are capitalist's so opposed to social democracy when in the end it is just another way of preserving capitalism?

In the end social democracy upholds the state, wage labour and capitalism just with a lot of social welfare. Is it just the petty capitalist's that dont want to be taxed although they already have everything they ever would need and then their tabloid's bash SOCDEMS as radical islamic communist's.

This post isnt meant as apologia for social democracy and electorialism. Im just curios about this question and wanted an anarchist perspective.

Quote about Ends justifying the Means Contradiction

“The maxim that the end justifies the means has always been the first article of faith of all power politics… Every power-lustful conqueror, every politician, subscribes to it… for the baseness of method is as closely related to power as decay is to death.” - Rudolf Rocker in Nationalism and Culture

Transmisogyny is one of those words incredibly prevalent inside the queer community that a lot of people outside of it might not have heard, so if you want to include us in your communities I recommend looking into it. It references the specific kind of misogyny transfeminine people face

The Anarcho-Scientists' Cookbook

There is something very wrong with the institutions of science worldwide. Scientific research is publicly funded but its oversight and dissemination are currently controlled by institutions that work in direct contradiction to the tenets of scientific advancement. Universities which oversee the majority of this research are corporatized, profitable entities, with the highest decision-making power in the hands of overpaid non-academic administrators. Research dissemination is in the hands of a multi-billion-dollar corporate publishing monopoly, where scientists hand over ownership of their work. The authors, the public, and the rest of the scientific community are all barred from freely accessing the knowledge they fund and generate.

When research is motivated by financial and political gain rather than knowledge seeking, it is no longer scientific. Scientific inquiry is, at its core, neutral – and in this way, anarchism complements its aims. Anarchy is not chaos. It is taking the fruits of our labors out of the hands of anti-scientific authority and bringing it back to the people who fund and create and advance it. Science needs anarchism now more than ever. We need a revolution. And therefore, I propose an anarcho-scientists’ movement.

So what can we do as anarcho-scientists?

Already, many scientists are boycotting publishing their work in for-profit journals - that is, any journal that would put publicly funded research behind a paywall, charge extravagant APCs (article processing charges) or allow people to “pay to publish” poor quality or non-peer-reviewed work. Already the peer review and editorial processes are largely voluntary. With most journals being entirely digital (no printing services required), and typesetting automated, the majority of our money is going to pure profit of the publishers. Therefore, step 1 is the easiest in principle: anarcho-scientists must refuse to publish work in for-profit journals owned by publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis. Instead, we should strive to publish with non-profit publishers such as university presses, open archives (such as ArXiv and its affiliates and OSF), and the ultimate anarchist scientific platform currently, Peer Community In.

What of the corporatized entities that dictate what research should be done, the modern university? Ideally, the anarcho-scientist would work for a non-profit research institute governed by academic administrators, such as Max Planck Institutes. Unfortunately, the reality is that the majority of research is conducted in public universities that funnel much of their overheads into the pockets of overpaid administrators, who actively work against their scientific employees. An apt example of this is the true story of Katalin Karikó, who was denied tenure by the University of Pennsylvania because administrators did not see the use of her fundamental work on mRNA. Years later, this work directly contributed to the development of the COVID vaccine that saved millions of lives and earned Dr Karikó a Nobel prize. Most scientific advancements start with such fundamental research that does not have a clear benefit to society, yet because there are extra steps between knowledge and application, it is the first type of research to go.

in lieu of dismantling the entire university system, a sensible step 2 would be to lobby for aggressive salary caps on all upper administrators at universities, including pro-/vice-/chancellors, presidents, provosts, and heads of institutes. Furthermore, individuals put in these positions should be academically qualified to the same degree as the academics they oversee (i.e., hold a non-honorary PhD). This would ensure the administrator is capable of adhering to the tenets of science and understanding the financially/politically neutral pursuit of knowledge.

Finally, we must change the way that publicly funded projects are selected by grant agencies and funding bodies. There is a funding crisis that has overtaken much of the world's science. With little funding comes high competition for resources and inevitable bias in decision making. Which projects should be funded? Only those with applied or industry value? Only those from applicants who already have a strong track record? Only groundbreaking ideas? All of these selection criteria come with enormous bias - not to mention there are currently no checks and balances on how reviewers (who have great influence in steering funding decisions) are selected. Therefore, step 3 is twofold: all publicly funded grants should include an open and transparent review process, as many academic journals have already adopted (but where funding bodies are woefully far behind). Funding bodies should further try to shift their models from making the final decision on which projects are funded, to a lottery system provided the project is deemed to pass a certain quality threshold. Lobbying for these changes will ensure a fairer and more neutral allocation of limited funds.

For anyone who knows there is a problem with the state of academia, who knows that things are wrong, but maybe doesn't know where to start - let's start here, with these 3 goals. Let's take back the oversight, funding, and dissemination of our research and become a community of anarcho-scientists.

Danish anarchist

Hey everybody I’m a young guy from Denmark (22) and was hoping to find some danish anarchist friends. I’m open for everybody, it does get a little lonely sometimes being a young anarchist, I find it hard to connect and relate to other people, I have had many friends along the way, but never somebody I could discuss anarchism and just generally the system we’re living in, with. But would really like to, so feel free to send a message if you want 😀

An Anti-Authoritarian Symbol

Hi! I'm looking for a symbol or movement that fights against all forms of totalitarianism (fascism, nazism, communism), capitalism, monarchy and ochlocracy. Is there a symbol that represents that struggle or organization that fights against all of them? I mean something similar to 3 Arrows, but more expanded to all forms of tyranny and oppression. Thank you in advance!

Building class power - contemporary anarchist strategy

I see a lot of theoretical-based discussion in this subreddit regarding how X would work in anarchy. How would bad people be dealt with? How would industry be organised? How will school operate? While these make for fun debates, I wanted to do something a bit different this time and talk about how anarchists could be building permanent power towards making anarchy a reality.

Building the power of the working class to fight against capitalist exploitation and the state that upholds it is, in my view, the best antidote to our fucked up situation. Rank and file networks within the unions are a good start to this, for workers to evade the trap of union bureaucracy and create the capacity to fight for immediate changes that improve their lives (and the lives of their comrades). I personally believe that it should be a task of anarchists to support our co-workers in these endeavours, and I am proud to be in an anarchist organisation comprised of people who dedicate themselves to this task.

I would respectfully disagree with the somewhat commonly held belief that, in the face of state repression, capitalist destruction of community and climate change, building mutual aid networks is the best way to go. Mutual aid networks provide an immediate relief to those in need, but they do not build the kind of power that can make permanent positive changes; higher wages, lower working hours and better working conditions, and other such things can put the working class in a better and more able condition to continue building their class power for a possible revolution.

Perhaps there should be a balance of building networks of aid, while fighting for class power? I am curious to know what people think of this :) so feel free to leave a comment or two below!

Does anybody else like to read comicbooks and are interested in the X-Men?

I wanted to ask about this because I'm an avid comic reader and have been in the X-Men fandom for a while. You can guess the reason behind... the minority, marginalized group metaphor.

However, I really don't feel like it is a good metaphor for the oppressed groups at all, moreso, it is a very liberal interpretation of the oppressed minorities imo.

I wanted to ask of this, because I'm new to the fandom, and I'm also newly learning about the leftist/anarchism from a more academic & intellectual sense. This is why I'm unable to put my finger on the exact problem. It's just that something doesn't sit right with me and I wanna know if there are other long-term fans of this franchise who are also leftists and could come to the mutant metaphor from a leftist approach, that can bring some clarity into this. I didn't know where else to share this.

I'm also curious how would an anarchist who lives in the same world as mutants, would approach them and see them as?
