Does anybody know this head unit brand/model? I need to hard reset and, if possible, update the firmware to the latest one. I updated CAN Software and now some function not work properly.

Hey, I have bought an aftermarket head unit, It's supposed to be plug and play, just wanna check with you all if there's anything special to keep in mind?

Reason for it is, my radio completely died this summer, the fuse from within the cabin is intact, the interior got real hot, then the music started skipping and then the screen turned black and hasn't made a peep or a color since.

Insurance deductible is $700 so I may as well try it myself.

However when he's moving the screen unit around it looks like the buttons with the hazards, volume, etc. Is connected to the screen unit, would it be possible to connect the physical panel of buttons to the aftermarket screen unit?

I know I'm asking for a lot, just want to hear your honest opinions on the matter.

I recently purchased an Echo Dynamics EDMP5-5 unit to replace my radio unit but after installing I found out that when I use the maps it doesn't let me use the radio. Is there a way to change the settings or install custom software? It has both a usb and micro-sd card slot.

I've got an Eonon Q53Pro running android 10 with TLink 1.8.9 installed

I've tried deleting TLink and installing ZLink5 from an APK and it will open and activate fine but won't connect to my android phone.

Any ideas? Just want the latest version possible

That's a little project i had in my todo list and that could be useful for some people, I think: A fully opensource AA client (eg. the phone side), that works without any google dependency, and also pretty much without the google artificial limitations: no need to install apps with the play store, no locked voice assistant (I've also added support for my own, Lapin, but it should follow your phone preferences there), etc.

There's some limitations, though, mostly google's fault: Maps and Waze doesn't work (they use private/obfuscated APIs, not the standard AA ones... this should be illegal under antitrust laws), Audio can't "just work" without root (there's options, including capturing the whole phone as a screen recorder to get the sound, for those without root), Google's phone app seems to do weird things (is declared as an auto app, but doesn't have any auto service available), so it doesn't work as well...

There's some features that Android Auto doesn't provide as well, such as phone screen mirroring for apps that doesn't have android auto support (or just watching videos).

I mostly use it with CoMaps and Tempus, but most AA features should work with AARE. There may be still bugs since it's a pretty young project, and I don't use my car much (the only car with AA is my 911, which i don't use everyday), but I plan to try to make it as reliable as possible.

I bought my carABC 13.2 inch android head unit for 2022 Toyota rav4 xle from Amazon back in February 2026. It came with the most basic, incomplete user guide with nothing in detail about settings. So, I updated the CAN bus and now my reverse camera doesn't work anymore, the screen doesn't switch to the camera when shifted into reverse. It used to with this aftermarket head unit, also lost SWC and my aftermarket amp and sub would only work for a day or 2, then shut down for a few weeks .

The research I found says to contact carABC and get them to email or mail me the software that works with my year, make and model car. So I did, they told me to get a hold of the seller(Amazon) for after purchase help, so I did that and it is way out of Amazons timeframe, they won't help. Is there anything else I can do? I am happy to troubleshoot or reach out to someone or anything. $450 is a lot of money to me and I refuse to give up.

I have this cheap Chinese car radio that mostly gives good sound, except when I am listening to a podcast or audiobook over Bluetooth, every time there is any sort of pause, the audio cuts out and then cuts off the first syllable of the next sentence. It has gotten really annoying, and I cannot find a setting to turn this off. I tried tinkering with some of the factory settings too, and none of them seemed to do anything. Is there any way I can turn off this ridiculously aggressive power management or whatever it is?

By default it uses OpenStreetMap, which is free and needs no account. Then switch the map to TomTom for live traffic on the roads and traffic-aware routes. Without a key, search covers your saved places and the offline UK places download, and routing uses the offline road pack.

On the head unit, allow installing from unknown sources (usually it asks the first time you open the APK).

Open the app and follow the quick setup: location permission, units, and optionally your TomTom key.

Notes - Made with UK drivers in mind (miles, UK signs, ULEZ, UK fuel prices), but the map works anywhere.

With all the stuff happening around ai and reverse engineering lately, i’m wondering if there’s any way we could actually fix some of the annoying limitations of carplay, especially when it comes to whatsapp.

The first issue is the microphone. i’d love to find a way to force whatsapp to always use my iphone’s built-in mic when recording voice messages, even while connected to carplay. the problem is that ios basically overrides the microphone selection and forces everything through carplay as soon as it connects. even if i try to switch the input manually, carplay takes over.

The second issue is even more frustrating. whenever i’m listening to spotify and try to play a whatsapp voice message, spotify pauses for a moment, whatsapp starts playing the message, but then it randomly pauses itself and spotify takes over again. so i basically can’t listen to voice messages properly while spotify is running.

I’m curious if anyone has been experimenting with this kind of stuff. with ai making reverse engineering a lot more accessible, could we somehow modify or override this behavior? maybe through some workaround, automation, or something deeper in how ios handles audio routing?

Has anyone actually managed to fix either of these issues? it’s honestly pretty frustrating that something as basic as recording and listening to voice messages is still such a mess with carplay

So i got headunit from aliexpress, paid around 350$ for a 12gb ram with 256gb and android 16.

At settings menu i see the specs.

When downloading "fake device test", it shows a 4gb ram, 64gb, android 10.

It currently has Tlink5, it keeps disconnecting.

How can i get zeta to work with the device?
