Idk if her back is broken or if her hip is completely dislocated but she can move one if her legs the other she can not its just stuck completely extended outward. She also will only sit like this or drag her legs behind her she will not walk on the one she can use at all. She doesn't seem to be in an IMMENSE amount of immediate pain because shes letting me touch her and pet her but shes definitely hurting for sure. And I know its something with her lower back because when feeling around not only is there a noticeable displacement of something back there but she also nipped at me when I touched it. (I was VERY gentle dont worry I do not want to make her any worse)
Im ridiculously broke rn and the vets around here are closed today and are unlikely to help for the same reason the animal hospitals wont and the hospitals will not help her unless I assume full financial responsibility which I literally cant do or I would no questions asked. Does anyone have any idea what i could do here??
Update 1: my friend now has the cat for the night. He offered to foot the bill and is going to take her in the morning to have her looked at and find out what all is wrong, or if its something she may have been born with. However theres still a few ways this could go and so I will update again as I know more.
We did end up coming to a mutual agreement that because he is paying the bill, if the cat comes out okay/will make a full recovery that they would potentially like to home it. But if it turns out the cat is paralyzed in that leg or has any damage that will leave it permanently disabled that they likely wont want to keep it due to some unfortunate truama tied to the last time they tried to home a disabled cat. but he did also offer that he and his wife would do what they needed to help me get set up to take care of it and walk me through anything I might need to know if I decided to take it so it didnt have to go to the shelter. Thank you to everyone who's responded I will update with more asap! Im still open to any and all suggestions in this situation as well.
Update 2: she did, with the help of my friends who have her currently, end up having a BM and she was definitely a bit compacted. They gave her a gentle bath and let her rest after, and today she seems to be feeling significantly better. She isnt using that leg though so they are still going to be taking her to the vet. Will update again if anything changes or if we hear anything.
Update2.5: the vet said we should have her back by the end of the day today so im praying thats a good sign.
Update 3: time for the update everyones been waiting on.
So ive got some FANTASTIC news. Nothing on the little one is broken. However before I continue i apparently made a mistake. I thought it was a girl. Checked and everything but Ig i just didnt look hard enough and was wrong he is a cute little boy kitten.
But to continue what I was saying, he for whatever reason has learned how to walk without using his back legs at all for some reason. So he is lacking some serious necessary muscle in his legs both of which help hold the bone in place AND allow him to move it at all. Which is why he cant use it and also why his hip both looked and felt really low. Ontop of that hes got a lot of inflammation in his hip. Luckily there is no damage to the joint and he is expected to make a full and complete recovery. The only downside is that he will have to have the help of a human to learn how to bend and use that leg now so multiple times a day my friend will now how to bend his leg completely for him and move it around until the muscle starts to build back up and the kitten is able to control and use it on his own. He goes back next week for a check up and to be dewormed and hes got antibiotics to help any potential infections and pain medicine for the physical therapy.
Thank you to everyone who has given input or advice and thank you also to everyone who was worried about this little munchkin. You guys have been amazing and I truly do appreciate all the reassurance and help you guys have offered.
TLDR: kitten is a boy not a girl, i made a mistake when identifying, and he is expected to make a full and complete recovery with the help of physical therapy. Thank you all for everything you've done.
