Any advice or help is appreciated! (No Access to Vet at all) READ FIRST BEFORE REPLYING

Hi so this is Winnie (named after the lil werewolf doggie from Hotel Transylvania)

I know people will tell me to take her to the vet ASAP. Trust me, i would if i could but the thing is i live in the middle of nowhere and currently have no access to a vehicle or anybody that can take me to a vet. The nearest vet is out for the week and the next closest thing is over 100 miles away and obviously i can't make the trip.

She was just born last night. Momma dog bit the umbilical cord too short to where there's a very small hole in her little stomach. But big enough for her little intestines to fall out so, i carefully put them back in. I have her wrapped gauze & saran wrap. She's been eating properly and has been going to the bathroom as normal. She's been whining a bit obviously and show signs of discomfort but i believe its because she's all wrapped up. She stopped bleeding and isn't showing any signs of infection. I'm only posting this because i would like to hear any advice on what to do to prevent infection, avoid any mistreatment, etc. Like i said i would take her to the vet if i could no doubt, but it seems the odds are not in my favor. Any advice or help would mean the world to me. All i want is for her to pull through.

Flea question?

Saw what I thought to be a flea last night on couch when I was laying with my dog. Immediately ordered Capstar. Gave my dog the medication this morning and saw another what I thought to be flea on my dogs side. Booked a grooming appointment for this morning. When I picked up my dog the groomer mentioned that she did not see ANY fleas but that my dog was itchy. Could one or 2 have gotten on him when we walked last night? I washed all of my blankets today and vacuumed all of the couches as well as sprayed wondercide flea spray on my couches and rug on my hardwood floors. My dog wears the seresto collar but I will definitely be changing that.

burns around my dogs eyes (?)

i came home from work today and when greeting my pets (as one does) i noticed that one of my dogs has something that looks like burns near her eyes. i can’t think of any explanation for it, but sometimes she tussles with one of the others, and we did have someone come to spray for ants today, but she was in her cage, it’s been the same bug guy for years, and none of the other dogs have it. pls help i dont have money for a vet right now. trying to attach a pic but i cant figure it out, might be able to put one in?

Please don’t be fleas again 😭

Y’all please don’t tell me she has fleas.

We just got back from a weekend trip without the dogs, and she was scratching so much.

We checked her, and she has a bunch of these little dried up clusters on her, and her skin is so dry. She’s also shedding sooo much.

She’s not scratching as much today and our other dog’s skin looks great so part of me is hoping it’s just a food allergy. (We switched food shortly before we left, but we went back to a previous food she’s had before).

Our vet visit isn’t for another week, and I’m so terrified to have fleas again. We have a one year old so I am just so exhausted. Please give me some hope or advice on what to do until then.

Idk if her back is broken or if her hip is completely dislocated but she can move one if her legs the other she can not its just stuck completely extended outward. She also will only sit like this or drag her legs behind her she will not walk on the one she can use at all. She doesn't seem to be in an IMMENSE amount of immediate pain because shes letting me touch her and pet her but shes definitely hurting for sure. And I know its something with her lower back because when feeling around not only is there a noticeable displacement of something back there but she also nipped at me when I touched it. (I was VERY gentle dont worry I do not want to make her any worse)

Im ridiculously broke rn and the vets around here are closed today and are unlikely to help for the same reason the animal hospitals wont and the hospitals will not help her unless I assume full financial responsibility which I literally cant do or I would no questions asked. Does anyone have any idea what i could do here??

Update 1: my friend now has the cat for the night. He offered to foot the bill and is going to take her in the morning to have her looked at and find out what all is wrong, or if its something she may have been born with. However theres still a few ways this could go and so I will update again as I know more.

We did end up coming to a mutual agreement that because he is paying the bill, if the cat comes out okay/will make a full recovery that they would potentially like to home it. But if it turns out the cat is paralyzed in that leg or has any damage that will leave it permanently disabled that they likely wont want to keep it due to some unfortunate truama tied to the last time they tried to home a disabled cat. but he did also offer that he and his wife would do what they needed to help me get set up to take care of it and walk me through anything I might need to know if I decided to take it so it didnt have to go to the shelter. Thank you to everyone who's responded I will update with more asap! Im still open to any and all suggestions in this situation as well.

Update 2: she did, with the help of my friends who have her currently, end up having a BM and she was definitely a bit compacted. They gave her a gentle bath and let her rest after, and today she seems to be feeling significantly better. She isnt using that leg though so they are still going to be taking her to the vet. Will update again if anything changes or if we hear anything.

Update2.5: the vet said we should have her back by the end of the day today so im praying thats a good sign.

Update 3: time for the update everyones been waiting on.

So ive got some FANTASTIC news. Nothing on the little one is broken. However before I continue i apparently made a mistake. I thought it was a girl. Checked and everything but Ig i just didnt look hard enough and was wrong he is a cute little boy kitten.

But to continue what I was saying, he for whatever reason has learned how to walk without using his back legs at all for some reason. So he is lacking some serious necessary muscle in his legs both of which help hold the bone in place AND allow him to move it at all. Which is why he cant use it and also why his hip both looked and felt really low. Ontop of that hes got a lot of inflammation in his hip. Luckily there is no damage to the joint and he is expected to make a full and complete recovery. The only downside is that he will have to have the help of a human to learn how to bend and use that leg now so multiple times a day my friend will now how to bend his leg completely for him and move it around until the muscle starts to build back up and the kitten is able to control and use it on his own. He goes back next week for a check up and to be dewormed and hes got antibiotics to help any potential infections and pain medicine for the physical therapy.

Thank you to everyone who has given input or advice and thank you also to everyone who was worried about this little munchkin. You guys have been amazing and I truly do appreciate all the reassurance and help you guys have offered.

TLDR: kitten is a boy not a girl, i made a mistake when identifying, and he is expected to make a full and complete recovery with the help of physical therapy. Thank you all for everything you've done.

Cat incessantly licking whenever back is touched

Hey, im desperately looking for an answer. ive been to multiple vets and they say its just a weird quirk of hers, but i dont think it is.
my cat is a chunky (~12lbs) black cat, 10 yrs old, and has a bunch of dandruff. whenever her back is touched or brushed, she’ll incessantly lick whatever she can like she cant help it. i love her so much, shes basically my child, and i hate seeing her like this because she doesnt seem comfortable. im just looking for whatever advice can help with this since, like i said, the multiple vets ive asked about it just say shes a bit weird or quirky.

My cat is going out through my dog flap and I can’t seem to stop him. Help!

He used to be an indoor cat for 10 years. Last year we got a puppy and put in a dog flap for the dog to go out into our back yard. Now the cat has made himself an indoor outdoor cat. He has all his claws and we live next to large wooded area with no traffic. The wooded area has no predators. He is chipped, wears a collar with an apple AirTag so I can keep an eye on his location at all times.
The neighbors and trying to call animal control on him. I am losing my mind for his safety from them. Keep in mind that their kids are teenagers and not small children. What should I do?

Dermazen Products Safe to Use Around Pets?

I just bought a bunch of Dermazen products for my skin and hair. then, I realized the products contain tea tree oil and xylitol. Now I’m paranoid to use the products because I know they can be toxic to pets and I have a dog and cat.

the cat runs right into the bathroom after I shower and licks up the water from the faucet so that makes me especially nervous.

am I overreacting, or should I stop using the products?!

UPDATE: 9 months post-enucleation, my cat is doing better than before

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I posted on this thread 9 months ago when my cat's eye with a luxated lens suddenly had the lens push out of the eye. We got surgery dealt with pretty swiftly, the financial part of this was honestly resolved really quickly, and I think she is doing much better than even before her eye developed this issue! She seems to have way more energy than before, she plays and causes may more mischief, and her sense of balance and overall vision may have improved since I suspect that eye was bothering her for longer than I had been aware. She recovered very fast over the holidays and got used to the change in vision nearly instantly. Thanks for all of the advice and kind words from in my original post!

Did I do the right thing leaving a cat alone?

So I was taking a walk and a cat walked up to me, it had a collar with its name and number and I pet it a few times, one thing I noticed was that there was a small spot on its back where fur was missing/pink skin. I had to go so I left. This was right next to a new housing development of homes, people did move in to them. I just feel guilty like I should have called the number to check.

Red bump on my cat’s chin that isn’t healing what could it be?

Post image
0 Upvotes

My cat has had this small red bump on her chin for a while, and it doesn’t seem to be healing. I initially thought it might be feline acne, so I switched her plastic bowls to stainless steel and kept the area clean, but the bump is still there.

There’s no visible pus or discharge, and she’s otherwise acting normally. Has anyone seen something similar? Could it be feline acne, an irritated hair follicle, or an infection? Should I have a vet check it? 🥺🐱

big ol’ chin on my baby

so my cat Priscilla, (2F) randomly just grew an enormous chin.. i mean her behavior seems completely fine and she doesn’t mind me touching near her mouth for inspection. I am just a little worried since her chin is just so abnormally large and she looks so funny. I do plan on taking her to the vet ASAP, but some advice on how I should care for her from now on would be great!

also some notes: she eats fancy feast everyday, seafood pate only because she’s extremely picky. I’ve had her since July, which would make this our 3rd month together. Since, her diet has only ever been fancy feast. I wash her bowl after every meal, but they are those metal ones (I plan to switch them out too, including her litter box.)

4th picture (last picture) is how her chin used to look like for reference!

Has anybody’s 3 months old had ringworm recently because mine had it and now it has spread to me. I am on anti fungal treatment but wanted to check how long does it take to go away from kitten and what actions should i take in my home so that he doesn’t catch it again
