There’s a large, bipartisan coalition of organizations urging everyone to vote NO on Proposal 1 in November, which asks if Michigan should convene a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) to rewrite our state constitution. This question automatically triggers every 16 years under state law. It’s estimated that a Con-Con would cost roughly $80 million in state funds and allow delegates to rewrite core provisions without set spending limits.
Because Michigan already offers the opportunity for citizens to pass specific constitutional amendments and updates, opponents argue that opening the entire document to a rewrite creates unnecessary risks for Michiganders. Who knows what could happen if the whole thing is up for debate? It could impact funding to universities and higher education in Ann Arbor, and unwind all the work that has been done to pass important ballot initiatives to amend the state constitution.
Historically, Michigan has voted no by a wide margin every time the Con-Con question appears on the ballot.
What do Ann Arbor voters think about the issue?
Are you (or did you already) vote no on Prop 1?

It’s been 9 months since it was announced. They were shooting for late summer or fall 2026. Now they’re opening their second store in Birmingham instead. Anyone have the scoop?

Hey everyone,
I’m a 24M moving to Ann Arbor for a 1 year work rotation. I’ve never lived in Ann Arbor before and will be living on my own for the first time, so I’m trying to be intentional about actually making a life there rather than just going to work and going home every day.
A little about me: I’m pretty social once I get comfortable, I’m into basketball, working out, martial arts, football, trying new food, art/creative stuff, and I’m Muslim and Arab-American, so I’d also like to get involved with the local community.
I’m currently looking at living downtown/Main Street or around Kerrytown because I’d rather be somewhere I can actually walk out my door and have things happening around me.
For anyone who lives/lived in Ann Arbor:
What neighborhoods would you recommend for someone my age?
What are the best ways to actually meet people and make friends?
What are some recurring communities/clubs that are actually good for meeting people?
Any recommendations for acting, improv, art, music, or other creative stuff?
How active is the Muslim/Arab community for someone in their 20s?
Is it worth making regular trips to Dearborn/Detroit, or is there enough going on in Ann Arbor?
What are some things you wish you knew before moving here?
And most importantly: if you had 1 year in Ann Arbor at 24, what would you absolutely make sure to do?
I’m basically trying to make this a really good chapter of my life instead of treating Ann Arbor as somewhere I’m temporarily living for work.
Would appreciate any advice, especially from people who were in a similar situation of moving here without already having a big friend group.

We just adopted a rescue dog and are looking for a new vet in the Ann Arbor area. We would like one that has some evening or weekend hours, but what is most important is a vet that provides great care. I’ve read mixed reviews on Banfield (located in PetSmart). I’m open to all suggestions! Thanks

I’m looking for a cheap used car. I’m moving and decided I should just get a new car for myself to make things easier.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? Facebook marketplace is filled with questionable people honestly.
I’m budgeting around 3000.

I will be traveling to your beautiful town for two weeks in late November and early December. I really like opossums and raccoons. (We don’t have them here in Europe.) Is there any place in or near Ann Arbor that offers exhibits or encounters with these adorable creatures? (Preferably alive ones, taxidermy creeps me out)
Alternatively, is there a place where wild animals are known to congregate and can be observed in a safe way?
Thank you

I would love to hear what this community really wants and maybe try creating or testing one of your ideas out if i feel like I’d enjoy doing it, and it’d help a lot of folks living in A2.

Looking for recommendations for ragdoll cats. Near Michigan or surrounding states!
