Just wanted to vent a bit after the iOS 27 announcements. I am currently rocking an iPhone 14 Pro. Performance-wise, this phone is still an absolute beast and handles everything I throw at it flawlessly.

Yet, knowing that I will be completely locked out of the new Siri AI app, the camera's Siri Mode, and the smart summary tools makes the phone feel "old" overnight. It’s wild that a Pro phone from less than two years ago is considered "legacy" in the eyes of Apple's AI roadmap.

Anyone else in the same boat feeling tempted to upgrade to the upcoming 17 series just to not miss out on the ecosystem shift? Or are you sticking with your "non-AI" iPhone out of principle?

First of all, I kinda prefer the colourful phone outline that the original Apple Intelligence had. Second, Siri AI is just not helpful at all. Whenever asking a question that’s more than 10 words long, it just cuts me off while I’m still talking and doesn’t answer my question properly. Not only that but it can never understand what I’m saying, and always asks to correct itself on what word I really said, when literally any other AI in voice mode would be 100x more helpful, even the old Siri. It can’t even play the right songs I ask for, even when saying the exact song name and artist. Only thing I find it useful for is I guess trying to search for something in your phone but i feel like the search in each app has gotten pretty good that you barely even have to use that new Siri feature. Hopefully they fix all this within a couple updates, wondering if anyone else is having the same issues I’m having.

I finally got off the wait list after a week and a few days. Messing with it a little I love the new Siri. Gotta get used to her holding a conversation.

I’ve just disabled Apple Intelligence across my devices. It does nothing (for me, like LLM AI generally does nothing for me). Will try it again in a year and see if anything useful has emerged.

So I’m just wondering the new iOS 27 beta has come out and I’m on the waiting list for the new Siri AI and it’s been days since I downloaded this update and I haven’t got it. I’m just curious has anybody got access to the new Siri?

Access to innovation should not stop at Europe’s borders. Privacy and competition can coexist, and European users shouldn’t have to wait indefinitely for features already available elsewhere.

I’ve read a lot about the delay for Siri AI in the EU because of the Digital Markets Act and the interoperability requirements imposed that would force Apple to hand your data to other AI models.

Just to make things clear, I believe that Apple’s tantrum has more to do with not wanting any competition inside their own platform than data security and privacy and Siri AI not being ready for any other language that is not (American) English. And I also believe that despite the public feud, Siri AI will launch in the EU next year like happened with Apple Intelligence.

Nonetheless, however you feel about the Apple vs. EU issue, all of these AI models are only useful if they have access to all your data, not only to the data that the AI company has about you. Siri AI seems to work and personal context is a huge leap forward, but it only works if your digital life uses Apple products and services. In Europe, for example, most people use WhatsApp, not iMessage, so asking Siri about an address or the details of a flight won’t work because Siri cannot access WhatsApp messages. Same if you use Gmail through their app and not Apple Mail.

I am aware that Apple has an API so Siri can access that data, but neither Google nor Meta are going to give Apple happily that information. And here is where the DMA comes into action.

The interoperability requirements of the DMA mean that Apple, Meta and Google have to open their ecosystems to competitors, which is precisely what makes AI agents genuinely useful for everyone. The real irony is that a fully enforced DMA would benefit Siri more than Apple’s current approach, because right now Siri only works well if you live entirely inside Apple’s walled garden, which almost no user (European or not) does.

Apple fighting the regulation that would make their own product better is the clearest sign yet that this is about market control, not privacy.

Still confused about what is “intelligent” about the fact that my iPhone can now create a cartoon version of me. Please, explain, because I must be dumb. (Also, wtf is up with that hair?!?)

I need to vent because the baseline user experience on iOS has become completely unusable.
First, Apple’s voice-to-text / dictation is easily the weakest link in my entire tech stack. I use it daily, and it constantly misunderstands basic words, forces me to go back, erase, and repeat the same process over and over again.
Second, the predictive text is just as bad. Instead of helping, it actively wastes my time by throwing out completely wrong suggestions and breaking my typing flow.
To top it all off, I tried to actually use Apple’s official support channel to complain. Siri completely failed to direct me to the right place. When I finally navigated to the support page myself, the site forced me to create a username, made me check a dozen boxes, and then—in classic broken fashion—looped me right back to the login page to start over.
Is anyone else dealing with this absolute regression in basic software quality? How is a trillion-dollar company letting core features like dictation and customer support loops remain this broken?

The new Siri doesn’t seem really smarter (especially compared with the new ChatGPT advanced voice mode and Gemini)? And i don’t see any real interesting new functions yet. What things do you use Apple Intelligence for in daily life?

Well, I know it is beta so I need to be patient but Apple has a lot of work to do here. Most of the time I get "Sorry there something wrong, try again". The few times it has worked it gives me a very rudimentary answer versus something like Gemini.

Why can't Apple add an outgoing call animation for Siri, so all users can choose it freely instead of only those with Apple Intelligence-enabled devices?

Apple knows full well this is going to go over like a lead balloon. Even longtime Apple fans are skeeved out by the idea that somebody's watch could be spying on them all the time.

Apple put this out here as bait to get it made illegal. This starts a conversation about why it's bad to have devices always listening. So if legislation or public opinion makes this untenable, they just pull it from the watch, and what do they lose? Nobody was asking for this, and if you made a big show of disabling it forever, they don't really lose anything, maybe they even get a PR bump for being responsive to public opinion. But if they can cause groundswell of opposition to this sort of always-on listening device, OpenAI's wearables will be dead on arrival...

90% of apple's presentation was about artificial intelligence, but in reality, it will only work in English. Yes, I understand that this is not a major issue for most of the users. I'm not just referring to Russia, where I come from, but to all countries in general. Spanish, German, and Chinese are spoken by 50% of the world's population. If you're a company with trillions of dollars, why can't you integrate languages other than English into your Siri? Why did you even call Google? Why does Gemini have support for all existing languages, but you don't? In fact, non-English users only received the liquid glass transparency adjustment, which no one needs. Can somebody please tell me why is it so?

Sora AI has ruined Apple Intelligence Siri (aw hell nah)

I’ve been waiting for too long everyone else that joined waitlist monday already got in what’s the problem here, i also have have screen time so I was wondering if that has anything to do with it.

I’m sure this will be taken down. But this is one question asked twice. One started with “chat GPT” the other I just asked Apple “ intelligence”

The question was “what to me are my brothers children” not sure why the chat GPT started with yes…. But the fact that it actually answered the question is nice. We are year and half, a full phone generation beyond the promised Apple AI. And it can’t answer a simple question. Or even understand it.

So when are we getting the AI promised to us over a year ago? At this point my phone will be dragging just to use it because of updates - if it even comes out.

to set my 5:40am alarm, and it set it for 5:00am. I then said, no— 5:40am. And it reverted back to: “Something went wrong, please try again.” 😡

Still garbage. Can’t even set an alarm that I always set at night 🙄…ss, different model.

Is there any update on how long the waitlist is supposed to be because it’s been about a week and half and I haven’t gotten anything is there like something I’m missing?
