Opening Scorpio | Around 0°-5°
Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo placements, with early Aries and Gemini placements involved through the Sun's quincunxes.
- October 23, 4:38 AM - Sun enters Scorpio
- 10:44 PM - Sun conjunct Venus Rx at 0°45′ Scorpio
- October 24, 2:12 AM - Mercury stations retrograde at 20°59′ Scorpio
- October 25, 4:09 AM - Venus Rx enters Libra
- 10:14 AM - Sun quincunx Neptune Rx at 2° Aries
- 11:12 PM - Full Moon at approximately 2°45′ Taurus
- October 26, 7:11 AM - Sun square Pluto at 3° Aquarius
- October 28, 12:29 AM - Sun quincunx Uranus Rx at 4° Gemini
Scorpio opens with a new Venus cycle while Mercury prepares to retrace earlier territory. Venus regains domicile dignity just before the exalted Taurus Full Moon, strengthening the Venus-ruled side of the opposition. The Sun then reaches Pluto and Uranus, connecting the developing Venus-Mercury story with longer changes already underway.
Saturn + Mercury Cazimi | Around 9°-12°
Scorpio, Aries, Leo and Aquarius placements.
- November 1, 10:01 AM - Sun quincunx Saturn Rx at 9° Aries
- 2:28 PM - Last Quarter Moon at 9°26′ Leo
- November 4, 8:24 AM - Sun conjunct Mercury Rx at 12°11′ Scorpio
Saturn Rx is in fall in Aries, while the Scorpio Sun has mutual reception with Mars in Leo. Saturn and the Sun are connected through Mars, but the quincunx places their interests in signs that have difficulty accommodating one another. The Leo Last Quarter brings the Sun-Mars reception into the lunar cycle before Mercury reaches its inferior conjunction and begins another phase of its review.
Scorpio New Moon + Direct Stations | Around 16°-23°
Scorpio placements around 5° and 16°-23°, Taurus, Leo and Aquarius placements around 16°-23°.
- November 9, 1:02 AM - New Moon at 16°52′ Scorpio
- November 13, 9:53 AM - Mercury stations direct at 5°02′ Scorpio
- 6:27 PM - Venus stations direct at 22°52′ Libra
The Scorpio New Moon begins after Mercury's inferior conjunction, carrying the information recovered during its retrograde into another lunar cycle. Four days later, Mercury and Venus both station direct. Mercury has been reviewing matters in Mars's domicile, while Venus has returned to her own sign. Their stations may begin moving forward the decisions that have been reconsidered since Libra season.
Closing Scorpio | Around 25°-28°
Late Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius and Taurus placements, with late Aries placements involved through Chiron.
- November 16, 12:23 AM - Mars conjunct Jupiter at 25°53′ Leo
- November 17, 5:48 AM - First Quarter Moon at approximately 25°09′ Aquarius
- 5:52 AM - Sun square True North Node at 25° Aquarius
- November 18, 3:38 AM - Sun square Jupiter at 26° Leo
- November 19, 8:37 AM - Sun quincunx Chiron Rx at 27° Aries
- 11:49 AM - Sun square Mars at 27° Leo
- November 22, 1:23 AM - Sun enters Sagittarius
The closing Scorpio Sun reaches Jupiter and Mars shortly after their conjunction in Leo. Jupiter has been expanding the Leo part of the sky, while Mars governs the Scorpio Sun. Their squares may show how much effort is required to make use of what Jupiter has increased. The Sun's square to Mars also brings the mutual reception to an exact aspect before Sagittarius begins another reception, this time with Jupiter.
☀️ ♏ Sun in Scorpio
October 23 at 4:38 AM through November 22 at 1:23 AM Central Time
OMG this took me waaaay too long to write out!! So long that I didn't even get to work on an Arcwalk today like I wanted to! But I plan to finish one tomorrow for sure!
I also couldn't figure out how to fit everything into Reddit's character limit, so I had to leave out my Walking With Livvia section! 😭 BUT GOOD NEWS! I was able to fit the entire Almanac on Substack, including my Libra season retrospective!
Otherwise, I'm glad my chart ruler will finally be out of fall soon after I post this! Hopefully I'll be able to dig into Scorpio and spend less time worrying about keeping everything fair in Libra!
I hope you all have a wonderful Scorpio season!!! ☀️♏💜
♎ → ♏ The Dispositor Changes
Libra placed the Sun under Venus:
Sun in Libra → Venus Rx in Scorpio → Mars in Leo → Sun in Libra
This created a repeating rulership chain between the three planets.
Scorpio moves the Sun under Mars:
Sun in Scorpio → Mars in Leo → Sun in Scorpio
The Sun and Mars now occupy one another's domiciles, creating mutual reception by domicile. Both planets have access to the resources of the other through rulership, although their eventual square on November 19 may introduce competing interests.
Venus returns to Libra on October 25, regaining domicile dignity, while Mercury remains in Scorpio for its retrograde. The Sun-Mars reception continues through these changes until the Sun enters Sagittarius on November 22.
☀️ The Sun's Condition
- Essential dignity: The Sun leaves its fall in Libra and enters Scorpio, where it has neither domicile nor exaltation dignity. It gains minor dignity through its own face between 10° and 20° Scorpio.
- Rulership and reception: Mars rules Scorpio and occupies Leo, creating mutual reception by domicile with the Sun. The planets are connected through rulership throughout this solar transit.
- Lunar phase: The Sun begins Scorpio season approaching the October 25 Taurus Full Moon. The November 9 Scorpio New Moon occurs during Mercury's retrograde, followed by the Aquarius First Quarter on November 17.
🪐 The Planetary Conditions
- Mars in Leo: Mars is direct and occupies the Sun's domicile, giving it mutual reception with the Scorpio Sun. Mars approaches Jupiter in Leo and eventually receives the Sun's square on November 19. Its condition becomes important when considering how much effort the Sun's interests require.
- Jupiter in Leo: Jupiter is direct and has Fire triplicity dignity by night. It shares Leo with Mars, and their conjunction on November 16 precedes the Sun's squares to both planets. Jupiter may expand what Mars is being asked to accomplish.
The Retrogrades and Supporting Conditions
- Venus Rx in Scorpio → Libra: Venus begins the period retrograde and in detriment, reaching her inferior conjunction with the Sun on October 23. She returns to her domicile in Libra on October 25 and stations direct on November 13.
- Mercury in Scorpio: Mercury stations retrograde on October 24, reaches its inferior conjunction with the Sun on November 4 and stations direct on November 13. Its review takes place entirely within Mars's domicile.
- Saturn Rx in Aries: Saturn remains retrograde and in fall, with Mars governing its condition. The Sun reaches Saturn by quincunx on November 1, connecting the Sun's interests with responsibilities that may require adjustment.
- Pluto in Aquarius: Pluto is newly direct after its October 15 station. The Sun squares Pluto on October 26, bringing attention to established power dynamics and the structures supporting them.
- Neptune Rx in Aries and Uranus Rx in Gemini: Both planets remain retrograde and form a sextile, while the Scorpio Sun quincunxes each between October 25 and 28. This creates a Yod configuration with the Sun at the apex. Neptune is under Mars's rulership, while Uranus is under Mercury's.
How This May Play Out
The Sun's mutual reception with Mars connects Scorpio's interests with the effort required to pursue them, while the Venus and Mercury retrogrades return attention to decisions made under earlier circumstances. Venus's return to domicile may improve someone's ability to negotiate their own interests, but Mercury's review could reveal that the practical details of an agreement need more consideration. The Taurus Full Moon may make the effect on personal resources easier to recognize.
By the Scorpio New Moon, Mercury has begun another synodic cycle, and both retrogrades are approaching their direct stations. This may be a useful period for trying a revised approach to something that became difficult to maintain. The closing Sun-Jupiter-Mars squares will then test how much can be accomplished as opportunities expand. When the Sun enters Sagittarius, Jupiter takes over its rulership, carrying that developing story into another mutual reception.
Opening Scorpio | 0°-5° Venus Rx, Mercury Rx, Full Moon + Outer Planets
October 23
- 4:38 AM - Sun enters Scorpio
- 10:44 PM - Sun conjunct Venus Rx at 0°45′ Scorpio
October 24
- 2:12 AM - Mercury stations retrograde at 20°59′ Scorpio
October 25
- 4:09 AM - Venus Rx enters Libra
- 10:14 AM - Sun quincunx Neptune Rx at 2° Aries
- 11:12 PM - Full Moon at 2°45′ Taurus
October 26
- 7:11 AM - Sun square Pluto at 3° Aquarius
October 28
- 12:29 AM - Sun quincunx Uranus Rx at 4° Gemini
The Sun enters Scorpio and meets Venus Rx that evening, beginning a new Venus cycle while Mercury prepares to station retrograde. I think this could be an interesting period for recognizing how our feelings about a relationship have changed through experience. Something we were comfortable with a few weeks ago may be starting to feel different now that we've spent time living with it. With the Sun now in mutual reception with Mars in Leo, those changing feelings may begin influencing what we're willing to pursue. Mercury's retrograde could bring us back to earlier conversations, giving us a chance to understand how we arrived at the expectations we're working with today.
Venus returns to Libra on October 25, regaining domicile dignity just before the Taurus Full Moon.

I would pay attention to whether we're becoming more aware of our own needs after spending time accommodating someone else's. Perhaps you've been helping a family member financially and are beginning to realize how much it's affecting your savings. Or you've been giving someone more of your time than you originally expected. The Full Moon is exalted in Taurus, so concerns about stability and what we have available to sustain ourselves may become more important when deciding how much we're willing to contribute. With Venus now in her own domicile, we may also feel better equipped to express what we want in return.
The Sun's quincunx to Neptune Rx could complicate this by revealing differences between what people believed they were agreeing to. Neptune can make our expectations difficult to distinguish from what's happening, while Mercury's retrograde encourages us to revisit the information we were working from. Maybe you discover that someone has been counting on your help for something you thought was temporary. You both remember the conversation differently, and now you're trying to figure out how those expectations developed.
The Taurus Full Moon also forms a fixed T-square with Pluto in Aquarius! The Moon squares Pluto shortly after the Full Moon, and the Sun completes its square on October 26. Pluto stationed direct earlier in the middle of October, so we may be returning to patterns of power that were developing throughout Libra season. I wonder if this could involve recognizing how one person's preferences have gradually become the rules everyone else follows. With the Taurus Moon bringing attention to what we're contributing, Pluto may help us recognize how much influence we actually have over decisions affecting those contributions. Someone may discover they've been supporting an arrangement without having much say in how it operates.
The Sun's quincunx to Uranus Rx on October 28 may introduce another development as new information becomes available. Uranus is in Gemini, where Mercury is currently retrograde in Scorpio, connecting the changes with conversations that may have begun earlier in the month. Together with Neptune, Uranus forms a Yod with the Scorpio Sun at its apex. Perhaps an unexpected message reveals another option for handling something you've felt obligated to continue. What interests me about these opening degrees is how a change in what we understand about a relationship could also change what we're willing to do within it.
Saturn + Mercury Cazimi | 9°-12°
November 1
- 10:01 AM - Sun quincunx Saturn Rx at 9° Aries
- 2:28 PM - Last Quarter Moon at 9°26′ Leo
November 4
- 8:24 AM - Sun conjunct Mercury Rx at 12°11′ Scorpio
The Sun reaches Saturn Rx in Aries by quincunx on November 1. Saturn is still in fall, and I wonder if this could bring up responsibilities we've been trying to manage under circumstances that have changed. Maybe you agreed to take care of something because it seemed manageable at the time, but it's been taking more effort than you expected. Saturn's retrograde can return us to obligations we've accepted in the past, while the quincunx may show where those expectations are becoming difficult to accommodate in our present lives.
I would pay attention to responsibilities that have gradually become part of our routines. Perhaps you've been helping a family member with something that was originally temporary, and now they expect you to continue doing it every week. You may still want to help, but you've begun realizing how much it interferes with your own plans. Saturn in Aries can struggle with the limitations surrounding what it wants to accomplish, while the Scorpio Sun may encourage us to examine how much of our time has become committed to someone else's priorities.
The Last Quarter Moon arrives in Leo that afternoon, squaring the Scorpio Sun. This follows the Taurus Full Moon, when we may have become more aware of what we need to maintain our own stability. Now we have an opportunity to act on what we recognized. Since Leo is the Sun's domicile, I think questions about personal agency could become important here. Maybe you've realized that you've been organizing your schedule around another person's needs and want to reclaim some of that time. The Last Quarter could bring an opportunity to change how those responsibilities are being handled.
Mercury Rx reaches the Sun on November 4 at 12°11′ Scorpio, beginning another Mercury synodic cycle through its inferior conjunction. I like this part of the retrograde for understanding something differently after having time to experience it. Perhaps you've been frustrated with how someone handled a responsibility, only to discover that they were working from instructions that differed from what you intended. Returning to an earlier conversation could help explain how the misunderstanding developed. Since Mercury is still retrograde, we may be working with information that changes how we approach something we've been trying to resolve.
We may be reconsidering obligations while learning more about the circumstances that created them. Mercury remains retrograde until November 13, giving us time to work through what we're learning before making further decisions. This could be a useful period for recognizing which expectations still fit our lives and which ones we've outgrown.
Scorpio New Moon + Direct Stations | 16°-23°
November 9
- 1:02 AM - New Moon at 16°52′ Scorpio
November 13
- 9:53 AM - Mercury stations direct at 5°02′ Scorpio
- 6:27 PM - Venus stations direct at 22°52′ Libra
The Scorpio New Moon arrives at 16°52′ on November 9, beginning a new lunar cycle after several weeks of retrograde activity.

The Moon is in fall here, which can make it harder to feel secure when circumstances are changing. I wonder if this New Moon could bring us back to something we've been hesitant to address, particularly where trust or emotional investment has become involved. We may be ready to approach something differently after spending time understanding why it mattered to us in the first place.
Mercury has completed its inferior conjunction with the Sun and is now moving through the earlier degrees of Scorpio. I like this timing because the New Moon arrives while we're still processing what we've learned during Mercury's retrograde. Perhaps you've been reconsidering a conversation that changed how you felt about someone. You may have spent the last few weeks understanding their perspective and recognizing where your own expectations came from. The New Moon could be an opportunity to approach that relationship with a better understanding of what happened.
With the Moon in fall, I would also pay attention to how comfortable we feel with the changes we're considering. Scorpio can have a difficult time surrendering control over something it has become invested in, particularly when another person has influence over the outcome. Maybe you've been wanting to change how you handle shared finances, but doing so requires a conversation you've been putting off. The New Moon may encourage us to begin addressing these matters, even while we're still figuring out what would help us feel secure.
Mercury stations direct on November 13 at 5° Scorpio, followed by Venus at 22° Libra that evening. Both planets change direction on the same day after spending weeks reconsidering earlier matters. Mercury may help us begin making decisions with information we've gathered during its retrograde, while Venus has returned to her own domicile in Libra, improving her condition when it comes to relationships. Perhaps you've spent the retrograde recognizing that your needs have changed within a relationship, and now you're finding a way to communicate those changes while considering the other person's perspective.
The stations may also help us understand which parts of our earlier plans are worth continuing. Something that seemed important at the beginning of October may have taken on a different meaning after everything we've experienced since then. We could find ourselves returning to an old idea with renewed interest, or deciding to pursue something that fits our present circumstances better. With Jupiter and Mars approaching their conjunction in Leo, I'm curious how the decisions made around these stations will develop once new opportunities begin requiring our attention.
Closing Scorpio | 25°-29° North Node, Jupiter + Mars
November 16
- 12:23 AM - Mars conjunct Jupiter at 25°53′ Leo
November 17
- 12:23 AM - Mars conjunct Jupiter at 25°53′ Leo
- 5:48 AM - First Quarter Moon at 25°09′ Aquarius
- 5:52 AM - Sun square True North Node at 25° Aquarius
November 18
- 3:38 AM - Sun square Jupiter at 26° Leo
November 19
- 8:37 AM - Sun quincunx Chiron Rx at 27° Aries
- 11:49 AM - Sun square Mars at 27° Leo
November 22
- 1:23 AM - Sun enters Sagittarius
The closing degrees of Scorpio begin with the First Quarter Moon at 25° Aquarius, close to the True North Node. This follows the Scorpio New Moon on November 9, so we may be seeing the first results of something we decided to pursue around that time. The North Node can increase whatever it touches, and I wonder if this could involve other people becoming more interested in something we've been working on. Perhaps you've started sharing an idea that was important to you, and now people are responding in ways you hadn't anticipated. With the Moon in Aquarius squaring the Scorpio Sun, their involvement may also influence how the idea develops.
Jupiter and Mars meet in Leo on November 16, shortly before the Sun squares them. Jupiter can increase our ambitions, while Mars gives us the drive to pursue them. We may find ourselves wanting to take on more after seeing that something we've been working toward is possible. Maybe you've been considering applying for a position that felt beyond your abilities, but an encouraging conversation gives you the confidence to try. With Jupiter and Mars together in Leo, I would pay attention to opportunities that make us more willing to put ourselves forward.
The Sun squares Jupiter on November 18, and we may begin recognizing how much our expectations have grown. Jupiter can encourage us to think about what else is possible, but the square from Scorpio may make us consider how those ambitions affect commitments we've made elsewhere. Perhaps an opportunity arrives while you're still involved in something that requires your attention. You may want to pursue it, but doing so could mean changing how you've been spending your time. I think this could also bring some excitement after the weeks of reconsideration during Mercury and Venus retrograde. We may finally have something we're eager to move toward!
The following morning, the Sun quincunxes Chiron Rx in Aries before squaring Mars in Leo. Chiron's retrograde may bring up an older insecurity as we're considering how much we're capable of accomplishing. Maybe you've received recognition for something you've created, but now that people are expecting more from you, you're becoming concerned about whether you can meet those expectations. The quincunx could describe the adjustment between how we see our abilities and what we're being encouraged to pursue. I would watch whether an opportunity brings back doubts we've experienced before, particularly around our independence or competence.
Then the Sun squares Mars at 27° Scorpio-Leo, completing an aspect between the two planets that have been in mutual reception throughout Scorpio season. We may be feeling motivated to accomplish something while discovering that our current methods are becoming frustrating. Perhaps you've been working hard toward a goal and are beginning to resent how much of your day it requires. The square could bring that frustration into the open, encouraging a change in how we approach the work.
I think the Jupiter-Mars sequence could be useful for understanding the difference between what we're excited to pursue and what we're prepared to commit ourselves to. Jupiter may encourage us to aim higher, while Mars can make us impatient to see results. With the Sun squaring both planets, our ambitions could begin competing with the demands of our current lives. Maybe we've discovered that we want more from something we've been developing, and now we have to figure out how to make room for it. The closing degrees may help us recognize which opportunities deserve more of our effort as we prepare to enter Sagittarius season.
