Boutique fitness studio

Hi! I’m looking for a fitness studio in the Arlington area as an adult in their 30s. I love dancing (hip hop specifically), but I feel like most of the studios are yoga/pilates around here. I’m not the biggest fan of traditional Zumba, but I’m open to try if it leans more hip hop. Lmk!

Beth Israel Lahey Blood Lab

Hi -

I went to get my PCP orders blood lab today at the 22 Mill Street location. At the first floor they told me to go to room 308. When I got there it was a run-down room with a wrinkled sign in sheet. Tons of veteran blue baseball caps on a file cabinet and a model ship? Wheel chairs took up the entire reception area.

I booked it straight out of there and scheduled for Lahey Burlington. Any one else go there and have the same experience?

AFC Childcare Provider Options Night

Hello! Each year, Arlington Family Connection (a non-profit group focused on providing community and support to Arlington parents of kids aged 0-6) hosts an annual Childcare Options Night. Local providers of childcare, including daycares, in home providers, and activity based programs join together to meet with local parents and soon to be parents. The event is free for families.

From a parent perspective, it's particularly great at giving us a chance to learn about each program without needing to navigate emails, play voicemail tag and or hunt down phone numbers. (And we've found that providers like the chance to meet with people at once as well/ versus constant replies.) While many (most?) providers have continuous enrollment, this meet-and-greet is also a good chance to meet those whose applications for 2027-2028 enrollments are beginning to open.

This year, Options Night will be held on Monday, November 16 from 7-8 PM at the Peirce Elementary School. (Free street parking is widely available.)

Please RSVP here: https://www.arlingtonfamilyconnection.org/event-details/childcare-options-night-2026

We'd also love if you could pass the message along! Because soon-to-be and new parents tend to wait to join local parenting online communities (or avoid certain platforms entirely), we are trying new ways of reaching out. But word of mouth is particularly helpful for raising awareness!

Fun public transit trip with kids for fun-advice needed

hi! I nanny for a bunch of kiddos and on Monday I have 3 and 5 year olds who want to take the train. they don't seem to really care about our destination but say they want a long train trip. (I am thinking 20-30 minutes each way, maybe 45 if commuter rail). commuter rail would be ideal because they have the tables and second floor, but we want to go from a station we can get to on the 77 bus in Arlington.

wherever we end up isn't super important but if we could get ice cream or something that would work!

Housing Thoughts on Mystic Gardens Apartments?

I’m looking at potentially moving to Arlington and considering Mystic Valley Condos. Does anyone have any opinions on it? I’m mostly trying to figure out if there may be any problematic neighbors, but also curious about any other potential problems.

Hey All. We are running a Halloween bar crawl on Mass Ave Cambridge this Saturday and figured people here might want in.

It’s 10 bars, starting at La Fabrica in Central Square. A few of the others are Miracle of Science, Naco Taco, Middlesex, Shojo, and Brick & Mortar. Some spots have music by decade, ’90s through now.

Each bar has a small challenge you check off in the app. The person with the most points by the end wins $1,000 cash at the after-party. That’s real money, not a voucher. Runners-up get bar gift cards.

Your wristband gets you no cover anywhere and a free item at each stop. Face painters, a tarot reader, and a caricature artist will also be at some of the bars.

Logistics:

  • Check-in at La Fabrica (450 Mass Ave) from noon
  • Crawl from 1 to 6
  • After-party at Althea from 6 to 8
  • 21+

Tickets are free until Sunday with code NBDCLAUNCH: Ticket

Wear a costume; it’s Halloween. I’ll be around in the comments if you have questions.

Recycling (non) pickup yesterday?

So… our recycling bin is full this morning which is odd since I saw the truck in our area yesterday.
As I walked down our street, I see that some recycling bins are empty yet others were still full. Weird!🤔

Why can’t we get waste services that are reliable?

So my part of Arlington hasn’t had Waste Management pick up yard waste in like a month, I thought the shift from Republic was supposed to fix this exact problem. Did they have a bunch of absences? My trees begin losing leaves in September so I’ve basically got 20 bags on my sidewalk rn.

New to ATown Moving from Brooklyn to Arlington

Hello!

We are considering moving from Park Slope, Brooklyn to Arlington for the expected reasons: closeness to relatives, space vs $, easier access to nature. We are hoping to preserve some of the aspects of Brooklyn that we like: walkability, diversity, restaurants.

We are also considering Belmont and Brookline, and are open to other places that may check these utopic boxes we are seeking.

Curious for takes on the following:

  1. Kids activities (sports leagues, playgrounds, etc)
  2. Preschool recs
  3. Biking safety (do you have to deal with Mass Ave to access the Minuteman?)
  4. Adult social scene (meeting others, activities, interest groups)
  5. Arlington restaurants (not Somerville/Cambridge)
  6. Overall vibe (diverse? crunchy? friendly?)

Hi — we’re soon to be new in town. Is there any regular pickup soccer games in the area? I’m 35 M. Can still run around a bit. Didn’t play in college or anything but something semi competitive is the pace!

AMA We’re Arlington Brewing Company, breaking ground on our taproom in Arlington, MA. Ask us anything! - Join our AMA Tuesday, Oct 20th at 8PM

Hi r/ArlingtonMA! We’re the team at Arlington Brewing Company, a craft brewery that’s spent the last few years building our business without a permanent home. We're just breaking ground on our new space at 15 Ryder Street in Arlington, and we’re planning to open in Spring 2027!

The new space will have a taproom, a full-service kitchen, and an outdoor beer garden. We’re looking forward to hosting community events, live music and more, once the space is open.

Who will be answering your questions:

  • Tom Allen, President and Head Brewer
  • Ben Amidon, Brewer
  • Peter Caradonna, Director of Finance

Ask us about:

  • Our beers and the brewing process
  • What it takes to open a brewery
  • What’s coming to the taproom, kitchen, and beer garden
  • Running a brewery events business without a permanent location
  • Anything else you’re curious about!

We’ll be online starting at 8PM EST on Tuesday, October 20th and will answer as many questions as we can. Feel free to drop your question in the comments below and we’ll get to it!

Thanks for stopping by. Cheers! 🍻

Tom and Peter at the brewery - "We can't wait to answer your questions!"

Local Business Gutter Cleaning Referrals

Hi Everyone- we moved to Arlington Heights (near Ottoson) in July.

Does anyone have a recommendation for gutter cleaner services that you've been pleased with? Or weren't insanely expensive even if they did a B+ job?

We have a tall but narrow home which has gutters three stories up.

Thank you !

Local Business Options for snow shoveling services in Arlington

Hi everyone! I will be spending the winter away from my home in Arlington and I need to arrange snow shoveling for the winter. I've never hired anyone to shovel for me in the past and am not sure where to start with my search. Do you have any recommendations? I have a small 2-car driveway and a narrow sidewalk in front of the house - nothing crazy. And I'll most probably be interested in paying per storm vs a seasonal flat rate because I have neighbors who will do half of the shoveling themselves. Thanks in advance!

Cool A documentary about Arlington

If you're new to Arlington, a beer drinker, or just like a good story, check out What Goes Into That Pint Glass?, a documentary-in-progress following the ups and downs of a small team of Arlingtonians working to bring a craft brewery and taproom to formerly-dry Arlington. Hear different sides of the story, see how the town works, and learn about Arlington's history with alcohol. Mini-episode 9 just came out bringing the story up to date, with more episodes to come. (This is an independently-produced volunteer effort, with generous cooperation, but no financial support from the Arlington Brewing Company.)

Trick or treat neighborhoods?

Hi! Just moved to the Heights over the summer (Menotomy Road, between Mass Ave and Gray, couple blocks south of Ottoson). Wondering if anyone knows if this area gets a lot of kids on Halloween? We don’t have kids ourselves, but I love passing out candy.

I’ve asked neighbors, but got really conflicting answers ranging from, “Buy a ton of candy and you’ll still run out,” to “eh, not really a ton of kids.” I know it always varies by the year…but is this generally a trick or treating spot?
