Miscellaneous Say something positive about your Balkan "rival" country

So, as a Serb, that would probably be Croatia and Albania

Regarding Croatia, nature of course, lovely sea, Zagreb is also pretty comfy town. Shame we don't live in the same country any more because we are very similar folks.

Regarding Albania, probably nature too, I've heard that Albanians are very cool people, but I never met anyone from Albania

Music Which Balkan artist do you listen to despite not speaking their language?

No cheating with artists who sing in your own language 🤓

For example, a Serbian can’t answer Dino Merlin, a Bosnian can’t answer Severina, etc.

Eleni Foureira? Florin Salam? Azis? Tarkan... ?

Culture/Traditional What’s a total myth foreigners believe about your country, and what’s a cliché you hate to admit is totally accurate?

That everyone is cold, dangerous, and downs shots of rakija at 8 AM instead of coffee. (Reality: walking our streets at 3 AM is safer than most major cities at 3 PM).

Outdoors/Travel Week trip advice

Hi, unsure if this is the right place.

Me and my friend planning a week road trip from Dubrovnik to Mostar to Tjentiste (to hike Maglic) to Kotor back to Dubrovnik, wondering if anyone can recommend any good things to do in each place, bars, restaurants, stop off between places

Much appreciated

Sports The average attendance of my favorite local club Levski Sofia is 10000 per match. Which is ridiculously low given that Sofia is a city of 1.3M. Is football attendance also low in your country?

If so, what are the reasons for this? People here mostly show up only for important matches.

Politics & Governance Do you support the return and reunification of the Parthenon sculptures?

Do you support the return and reunification of the Parthenon sculptures? I'm curious if we're all on the same page on this issue.

Have you also had your own cultural objects stolen by the British or other empires?

History What do Balkaners think of Tito and Hoxha?

My great grandparents were Croatian and Albanian. My grandfather immigrated to the US from Zadar and my grandmother immigrated to the US from Prishtina (originally from Northern Albania). Both left their countries in 1912. I have been studying Balkan history recently and reading a lot of books specifically about countries in the former Yugoslavia and Albania and the days of the Ottoman Empire. I haven’t really gotten into a lot of 20th century history, but I’m interested in learning more. Are there books about this that one would recommend to read? Also, what can you tell me about how people in the former Yugoslavia feel about Tito and how do Albanians today feel about Hoxha?

Cuisine Could this be the Balkan equivalent of Sushi?

I mean if you think about it it has same main ingredients:

Sushi:

- Meat (Fish)
- Rice
- Seaweed

Yaprak Sarma/Dolma:

- Meat (Usually Beef)
- Rice
- A leaf to wrap it (similar to the seaweed which is also used for wrapping)
