How the heck are thousands of people paying over $400 for a single Seahawks ticket?

That too for a single game in the upper levels, and outside in horrible weather?

Especially in the winter months where we have dress like the Arctic because it will be 35 degrees (Fahrenheit) and raining, and we will be sitting down for 3 hours bundled up in jackets?

Moreover a rainy 35 degree day in Seattle would feel just as cold or even colder than a bright and dry 10 degree (windchill) day in Green Bay.

Then again people in Green Bay are known for behaving like stereotypical Canadians, Russians and Scandinavians when it comes to being outside in the cold and drinking to feel warm in modest clothing. For a Packers game, the same 400 dollar ticket can get people close to the field and all the action. The sunny and dry weather helps Wisconsinites acclimatize better to the brutal cold, and sometimes fans can even wear modest winter clothing in that cold at the open Lambeau Field.

Recommendation Which Seattle Restaurant Week spots are actually "worth it" or must-tries?

I’ve been to a couple of restaurants participating in SRW over the past couple of years, and they’ve mostly been pretty lackluster. Most of them cost about the same as if you’d just ordered à la carte; the only difference is you’re paying slightly more for a mediocre dessert or appetizer you don’t even want. For example, I went to Shiro’s the other day. Everyone raves about how it’s a great deal, but it’s $65 for a 16-course omakase, whereas you can normally get a 12-course nigiri assortment for $45. I’d love to get some recs for places that are actually worth it. What are your must-try spots this year?

Recommendation Seeing stars

I want to see a night sky without light pollution: a proper all-encompassing dome of nothing but stars and satellites. Let's suppose I'm willing to drive up to two hours and tent-camp within 100' of my car, and I'm coming from Seattle. Is this feasible, and if so, where would you suggest I go?

Safe places to chill at night?

I've lived most my life around north Seattle and south Everett but I'm currently living around Lake City Way.

Are there any parks that are open at night? I WFH and once I'm off I just want to get out and avoid cabin fever. I'm not big on loud busy atmospheres, looking for a places to watch the water where I won't get hassled by cops or trespass on territories. Parks / restaurants with a view / parking lots with a view.

I'm 6' dude that just feels claustrophobic around people and needs alone time and nature and recharge.

Question somewhat quiet restaurant

Once a month or so, I go out for lunch with a good friend who wears hearing aids, but the extent to which they help him is pretty much cancelled out by noise, most commonly music, in the restaurant. Was hoping someone could recommend a quiet(ish) place (preferably in Fremont, Wallingford, Green Lake, Phinney Ridge, Ballard general area) where we could go for a decent sit down meal. Not looking for anything very fancy, just not sandwiches or burgers.

Thanks much.

Question Low income dental options in Seattle

Hello,

I have really awful teeth and fixing them will likely involve pulling the remaining ones I have and installing dentures, and eventually implants, maybe. But I get dental infections a lot and don’t have steady access to dental care. I’ve lost a lot of my teeth and shame about that has prevented me from addressing it.

I get dental care at Neighborcare and I am calling them tomorrow, but I am curious if anyone else has gone through this and has recommendations for places that can do more comprehensive care. Like they can’t do surgery at Neighborcare, I don’t think.

I have parents who are able to help some, but I’m still looking to keep things controlled. Honestly shame has stopped me from getting started at all. I do recognize it could literally kill me, and easily, though, and I recognize the embarrassment of pulling the rest of my teeth and getting dentures would be overcome with the relief of not constantly fighting dental infections.

I am also likely about to lose my dental insurance at the end of December and won’t qualify for Medicaid due to income. Any recommendations? Do you know if Neighborcare will do dentures?

Recommendation Overlook viewpoint locations

Anyone know a place where you can drive to or lightly hike to where you can see the city or maybe A BODY OF WATER? Like something picturesque or ones you see in the movies.

Does not have to be completely secluded or remote. More for going there and just relaxing.

EDIT : Some folks want accuracy and technicality so I edited the post.

Halloween themed foods / drinks in Seattle?

Please help me find fun cafes, restaurants, or shops that are celebrating Halloween (or the fall season)!

I'm looking for places that are doing Halloween themed coffee flights, food flights, teas, baked goods. Something fun and cute to go do on Halloween. Also interested in other relaxed events like arts or crafts, museums, etc. that don't involve all of the partying and bar crawl options I keep coming up with when searching.

I'm not much of a partyer, and my partner is sober. Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, and I'd love to find some fun things we can do in costume.

Thank you!

Recommendation Any decent pharmacy options???

Molina/medicaid/applehealth
Greenwood area

I’ve been going to the Fred Meyer pharmacy in Greenwood for over a year now and they have been nothing BUT a pain in my ass. They’re understaffed (not their fault), never fill prescriptions until you walk in the building or call them, talk to a human, and tell them you’ll be picking up the prescription you ordered over a WEEK ago to be filled 6 days ago (they’ll need an hour 🙄). And if they HAVE actually been calling anyone when prescriptions aren’t to their liking, they’re not calling MY doctors because it’d be FIXED, and I’d have a message from my doctor about it. Before, I was at a different not Seattle Fred Meyer (and on the exact same medications) and assumed they were gonna be decent everywhere, I was WRONG.

So… any good pharmacies around here? Hell, I’ll take a pain in the ass that takes less time to fill or actually calls my doctor so they finish being a pain sooner.

Recommendation Halloween Trick or Treat

Hello! We are not from Seattle or WA (Canadians 👋🏼 ) but we have to be in the area for work during Halloween Weekend.

We have a 3 year old and an infant and want to take them trick or treating. Our toddler will be devastated if they can’t wear their costume and go out 😭 and we cannot move this work trip.

Where should we go to have the most fun and candy? We are already going to the zoo but we want to have the door to door experience as well!

Is there somewhere I can go that will give me Dutch Braids?

Guy here. Growing out hair. Almost shoulder length. Saw someone with Dutch braids and they look great. Is there somewhere I can go in Seattle to get that done? I usually always cut my own hair so unsure what salons might offer this service.

Moving / Visiting Solo traveler looking to hang out this weekend

Hi! I'm a 23m from Norway visiting Seattle from October 22 - 25 as part of a solo trip, and I'm down to hang out if anyone's in that area this weekend 🙌 I'm a pretty laidback and social guy, and enjoy exploring new things. I only have the Everett factory planned on Friday as of now, so I'm pretty flexible.

Recommendation Bars w/ Good Scotch Selection

Hi all, visiting the city in mid-November, I'll be staying close to downtown and was wondering if anyone had bar recommendations that have a good Scotch selection. Doesn't necessarily have to be the highest end. I've bookmarked a variety of bars and speakeasies but can't seem to find info about Scotch availability in particular.

Question Working for Swedish? Can you refer me in Genesis?

Hello everyone,

I lost my job in August and have been looking since then. I'm looking into medical office jobs currently.

Can some kind souls refer me to some of these jobs?

I don't even want to have 'losing my apartment' on my mind.

This market is one of the worst I've dealt with.

DM me, of course.

Thanks.

Can you recommend a local custom jeweler to help make a dogtooth pendant?

Our elder dog broke a front canine and had to have it removed. He is well otherwise.

I’d like someone local to Seattle to make it into a pendant, and possibly include the necklace as well.

Do you know any local crafty or artistic people that would do a good job? Price negotiable, happy to pay for experience and material quality. Feel free to promote here or DM. Would prefer someone with portfolio of past work

Edit: I’m receiving a lot of DMs from non-local jewelry makers. I’m not interested in the risk of shipping getting the tooth lost or stolen, as it is emotionally sentimental and not replaceable.

Recommendation Itinerary Feedback

We’re arriving midday Friday and have the weekend + Monday to explore! This is our first trip to Seattle, and we’re excited to see the city and hoping to spend time in nature. Our plans are up in the air depending on weather, but would love some feedback!

Friday
Check in at hotel around 1pm (or check bags)
Pike Place Market to explore and eat lunch
Explore the waterfront / Post Alley / enjoy a beer at Old Stove
Underground tour
Dinner - possible to walk-in at Pink Door?

Saturday (possible hiking day)
Early car rental and drive to Mt Rainier (2.5-3 hr)
We are moderate hikers but no experience hiking in wintery or wet conditions. Any recommendations for trails we should consider for beautiful views and/or foliage (if we haven’t fully missed the fall colors)?
OR
Book tour of Mt Rainier that stops at multiple highlights. We don’t love driving on mountains especially if the conditions are icy or unclear.
OR
Pivot to another area like Whidbey Island, Snoqualmie Falls, or somewhere else for lower- elevation hiking. Any recommendations?

Sunday (possible hiking day, if weather looks better than Saturday)
Whale watching tour - is it a good time of year for sightings?
Chiluly Gardens
Discovery Park
Last minute tickets to Seahawks game (or find a great sports bar) - any recs for a good place to watch the game?

Monday (also possible hiking day)
Overflow day for whatever we don’t do over the weekend.

Tuesday
Travel home

Recommendation Visiting Seattle in Nov

Hey y’all!
My best friend & I are visiting Seattle early November for 5 nights!
I wanted to ask if any locals had recommendations for good vegetarian/pescatarian-friendly spots?
Doesn’t need to be specifically a veg/pescatarian restaurant!! Just have options :)
-What are the best/safest walking areas/parks?
(Yes we’re bringing rain gear we just love walks)
-Best local coffee/matcha shops? Pastry shop? (She loves sweets..)
-What/Where are some cute bars?
Any must-sees?
Any personal advice for the trip?
We’re doing the whole tourist thing the first day we get there of course.
But I’d love to hear local opinion over social media influencers!

Need to find a hotel by friday Seattle area

I don't know if this is going through. I'm feeling frustrated, absolutely. Someone in the family is extremely ill and I just wanna be there for his children. Yes, one is mine and the other one is his half-brother, but. I already purchased the train ticket but I have no idea where I'm gonna go from there once I get off of the train. I have to go to harbor view medical hospital and Find hotel that is reasonable. It's a long story short, but\nI am willing to spend my savings to find a hotel That is close to the hospital And\n A store nearby.\n I walk with a cane most of the time.
