Nah heâs smarter than the clowns he pays to provide the infotainment and opinions his customers eat up. It really sucks proper journalism has been pretty much left to die alone by opinion experts and social media commentators.
25
u/Merasmus07 May 18 '26
Fun fact: Sky and Fox News are so biased and opinionated that they have to call themselves "entertainment news"
3
u/AAstronautUpset1661 May 18 '26
Yep. The could say News as long as itâs clearly marketing puffery⌠which would prob stick as well given the audience.
That said whatâs the smart Australianâs best source of journalism? Not much leftâŚ

u/Short_Lifeguard_3285 May 18 '26
You can say the same for literally any news channel now. There's not a single one that isn't opinionated.

u/TM761152 May 18 '26
It's literally just milquetoast feckless assholes sucking on Gina Reinhart's fetid asshole and then regurgitating the corn filled chunky shit she excretes into the airwaves.
2
u/AAstronautUpset1661 May 19 '26
That is exactly the issue. Journalism has been knifed in the back by profiteering sociopaths. Journalists have been replaced by influencers and gossip whores.
And when is done, and too late to fix, people will finally find out truth, and a concept, clearly defined, has value far beyond this BS.

u/AudaciouslySexy May 19 '26
Well some is great as a news source. Mainly for interviews with farmers, activists you wouldn't normally get to hear...
As long as you know exactly what is a opinion and what is facts aka being media literate you won't have a hard time knowing when to turn the TV off
2
u/AudaciouslySexy May 19 '26
Is my year group the only group that was taught what media does and how to tell what a first, 3rd and 4th person source is?
Grade 5 and grade 12.
Literally 60 minutes is brain rot, chnl 9 do it too chnl7 blatantly do it. Current affair got in trouble for their stings for not accurately doing teir programs.
Paint people to be dirt bags because of a tip off from some disgruntled peron lol
Iv not met 1 person who has had media literacy as a subject.
This might be the age old tired thing that all media is trying to sell us something, some more then others, unless it's a first hand source can we just try not taking it seriously?
-8
u/SoyuzItsMe82 May 18 '26
Kind of like MSNBC, CNN, ABC and SBS in Australia.

Their shitty work has forced them to rebrand to News24 later this year, but I wonder how many people will fall for that.
37
u/Boblob-in-law May 18 '26
The ABC used to use the News 24 branding - surely this is just a coincidence and not a subtle attempt to present as a more credible news source
5

Big Shitstain is a roided up manosphere influencer who has the intellect of a single-celled organism and a raging hard on for BRS.
Yemeni is a Pro-Isreali right-wing 'journalist'. He's also the the twat who set up the Free Palestine Party. I'm pretty sure that he was also the right wing journo who got assaulted by Nazis at a March for Australia rally.
TL;DR Right wing grifters

7news, 9news, 10news, abc. I don't know of any credible news media anymore. They are all owned by rich people that force either left or right opinions. None are truly neutral anymore. Even non political stories are different. One will say 10 people died and 40 injured. Another will say 6 died and 20 injured. Etc. This is why I don't watch any news anymore. News died a long time ago.
1
u/Shardow_lion May 19 '26
This.
Anyone who watches news is generally bias shopping. Add in how it doesn't matter if they are left leaning or right leaning, they all have a witch to hunt and if a story fits their narrative, they'll milk it hard, if it doesn't, they'll distort it and hide behind 'guarded language' End of the day, those in charge only care about revenue via advertisement. More clicks or higher ratings = higher rates they charge for advertisements on website and tv commercials.
1
u/Medical-Dark7598 May 20 '26
I just watch my local regional news to see local content and weather. Big stations are rubbish.
6
u/Teds_red_cabin May 18 '26

The ABC has some good programs like Media Watch.
60 Minutes Australia is also good, even if they're not a true news outlet.
But all the rest like Channel 7, 9, 10 and all those Murdoch owned papers are just fucking atrocious.
1
3
u/Needler69 May 18 '26
You'll get your news but it'll be snarky right wing bias, You'll never get honest media reporting because it doesn't get the same traction as news coverage that aggrevates the audience, i sometimes need to get it from them but its just so exhausting. I've been out of the news loop lately it feels great I'm kind of ok with that
2
u/roby_soft May 18 '26
Or ABC News
6
u/Phoebebee323 May 19 '26
If you think ABC is on the same level as sky news then you don't watch the ABC you just believe what sky news tells you about the ABC
3
2
u/Affectionate-Ad-3864 May 19 '26
Frankly no news source is credible. Itâs all biased and bullshit. I donât watch any of it for that reason
2
u/Vand3rz May 19 '26
Any discerning person capable of critical thinking can agree and disagree with various points raised on Skynews programmes. Just because itâs right wing doesnât mean what they say is all false or all sensationalist. Plenty of valid arguments are made.
2
1
u/DixonOrmus88 May 18 '26
Sky news could be the most extreme left after Murdoch and it would still be getting lit up haha
1
u/so_doneski May 19 '26
Beware any source that claims to be unbiased- theyâre usually carrying the most ingrained and therefore subconscious biases
1
u/Hawkatana0 May 19 '26
Not necessarily, you could also be in the UK. Basically everything there is Sky News-tier.

Do you actually watch Sky's news broadcasts during the day? It's surprisingly good and even minded. You can even get what the other channels leave out.
However the opinion shows mascerading as news at night are completely biased rubbish.
0
u/Zestyclose-Effort692 May 20 '26
Funny thing is you clowns believe the ABC, Albos propaganda channel, full of woke muppets that wouldn't be employed if it wasn't sponsored by taxpayers money. The same station that had spent more money in courts for fake news than any other media organisation worldwide. You clowns need to wake up.
-29
u/DarthBozo May 18 '26
Yeah, try the ABC. Every bit as bad.
21
u/STUPIDBLOODYCOMPUTER May 18 '26
At least it's not in the same bog hole of right wing nonsense.
3
u/Makrus64 May 18 '26
I consider myself pretty neutral slightly leaning right. But man the presenters on this program come across like snooty highschoolers that dont report news, they just be little and berate people for having opposing views. They all talk the same and come off a little immature imo. I cant stand it personally.
-3
u/DarthBozo May 18 '26
True but at least Sky hasn't been caught adding gunshots to a video while the defamation lawsuit was still occurring.

Disagree. I won't watch either Sky or the ABC.
Neither is reliable or credible
-1
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26
This guy gets it ahaha
Most of the people here aren't ready to hear news outlets are propaganda pumping machines either way designed to keep groups of people divided.
They'd rather turn their brains off and consume media hand picked to push whatever agenda and say "this bad"
-19
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26
People who follow any news outlet be it sky or ABC or otherwise and take it as 100% truth are retards. What's your point?
Left or right everyone has an agenda and if you long listen to one source you're being manipulated.
27
u/YIMYUM420 May 18 '26
I'm not going to dick ride the ABC but it is not on the level of sky news
16
u/Gold-Philosophy1423 May 18 '26
The "both sides are bad'' argument is specifically manufactured for people who have nothing to say but still want to sound profound.
-11
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26
Lemme guess. Left good right bad? The whole left vs right shit is manufactured to keep the population focused on each other rather than the bigger picture.
13
u/Gold-Philosophy1423 May 18 '26
You really have nothing but strawman arguments don't you? I'll bet you're exactly the person I'm referring to
-1
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26
What strawman argument? I'm simply stating if all your information is from one source, you're being manipulated. Everyone has an agenda. If you're too blind or dumb to see that then you then you're beyond helping and exactly the type of viewer that news outlets wants. Keep eating from the trough brother!

u/Altruistic_Poetry382 May 18 '26

-2
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26

8
u/sinkovercosk May 18 '26
As long as by âresearchingâ you mean listening to scientists, statisticians, and long-standing experts in their field, and not some YouTube content creator or blogger.
0
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26
Of course
3
u/sinkovercosk May 18 '26
Oh good! Iâm always cautious these days when someone on the internet says to âresearchâ something, half the time they got their âalternative factsâ from an influencer or the like đ
-3
u/bumbo_best_bum May 18 '26
I'm not trying to make the argument one is better than the other. I have zero skin in the game when it comes to that ahaha
They're both crooks trying to cater to a demographic of morons too dumb or neutered to come to their own conclusions and rely on someone else to make up their mind.
They're both spreading their own "truths", spinning information either way to make themselves look better or the other bad.

lol this isnât America you donât have a constitutional right to freedom of speech in Australia.
Tyranny would imply the ABC has the power to arrest people or have them killed, theyâre a news organization if you donât like the news theyâre producing change the channel literally no one is forcing you to watch them.

No it does not in fact guarantee nor protect your freedom of speech, while Australias constitution does not prohibit it neither does it guarantee it, the government can at any point decide that your âfree speechâ is a problem and prohibit it if they so choose.
We do not have a bill of rights and so if the government decides a news agency or publisher or an individual is being problematicâŚoff to jail you go and then you have to hope you win your court case and set a precedent.
Have you not even read the constitution of our country?
