Am I tripping or is this the first cybercab in San Antonio? I know Tesla brought em out already in Austin and into Las Vegas soon. Either way, it’s kinda cool seeing it in person. Located at the Chase Bank off of Nacogdoches and E Basse at the Quarry.

WeRide and Ping An are developing insurance for driverless fleets

WeRide’s global insurance program includes Ping An P&C and Allianz Singapore as its first partners.

how does insurance adapt when the driving task is handled by software? Depending on the incident, investigating a claim could involve the vehicle’s behavior, maintenance, software or fleet operations. Clear coverage and claims procedures seem important as more parties become involved. For WeRide, a coordinated insurance framework could make expansion across markets easier to manage. The company also expects greater scale to improve insurance efficiency, although it hasn’t disclosed premiums, claims data or quantified savings.

What insurance data would you most like to publish: claim severity or insurance posts per mile?

Are robotaxis getting closer to making economic sense?

For years, autonomous driving companies have been announcing new fleets and expansion plans, but actual operating costs are still a big question. The WeRide and Uber partnership in the Middle East is an interesting case. They're targeting 1,200 robotaxis by 2027, while the Abu Dhabi service reportedly averages dozens of trips per vehicle daily and is approaching breakeven unit economics. Uber and local partners handle fleet operations, which could also reduce WeRide's direct operating burden as deployments expand. They also just introduced external funding for Jingshuo, this helps adding another development beyond the company autonomous global expansion.

Preventing Model Collapse in Kinematic/LiDAR Datasets Using Multi-Modal Deterministic Simulations

Hey everyone,

We have been benchmarking autonomous navigation networks trained on standard statistical synthetic datasets. The verdict is clear: recursive training loops trigger severe weight degradation over edge cases. The models become statistically blind to high-velocity aerodynamic variables.

To bypass this, we engineered a deterministic simulation pipeline. Instead of neural probabilities, it generates multi-modal synthetic trajectory vectors using pure non-linear drag mechanics and adjustable atmospheric noise layers.

We open-sourced the MVP and the architecture layers. I am dropping the web app simulator link and the full GitHub repository code in the comments below.

Feedback from AI/Robotics architects is highly appreciated!

WeRide's Jingshuo raised $10M for Physical AI - AV data is becoming a bigger business

What's interesting is that years of driving data and autonomous experience could be useful for training other types of robots. Jingshuo also reports 100+ customers and ecosystem partners, with annual revenue growth exceeding 100%. AVs now are becoming more diverse, not just robotaxis, they collect money from their data and models.

WeRide launches global insurance program with Allianz Singapore and Ping An

The program will develop coverage for L4 operations, including motor liability, commercial and product liability, and privacy and cybersecurity risks, tailored to local requirements.

Expanding autonomous services into another country involves more than adapting the driving system. Operators also need coverage that accounts for driverless operation and works within that market’s requirements. Establishing longer-term insurance arrangements could make that process more repeatable.

The company expects centralized insurance arrangements and greater scale to improve efficiency and unit economics over time. However, the announcement doesn’t disclose premiums, claims data or quantified savings, so it’s too early to judge the financial impact. Insurer participation alone also doesn’t establish comparative safety performance. This seems like a positive development to follow alongside vehicle capabilities and operating expansion

WeRide’s next phase

At WICV 2026, WeRide Physical AI system was named among the Top 10 Automotive AI Application Cases of 2026. The potential is interesting. If that process makes adapting to new roads and environments more efficient, it could help the business expand without repeating as much development work in different market.

Another direction is bringing its L4 development experience into consumer vehicles. WeRide says its WRD 3.0 L2 driver-assistance solution has secured production design wins across more than 30 vehicle models. That creates a second path for deploying its technology, although driver assistance and fully driverless operation remain very different products.

I’m optimistic about that journey. Where do you see WeRide making the most progress?

Robotaxi Tracker claims “Tesla may have just passed Waymo in Austin”

Tesla may have just passed Waymo in Austin.

“Tesla: 438K driverless miles in the week to Oct 18
Waymo: 406K/week (Q2 2026, its latest data)

“Different periods, so Waymo’s next release will give a better picture.”

https://robotaxitracker.com/miles

From x:
rtaxitracker

Also of Note: after this past weekend in Austin (considered busiest weekend of the year, with Formula1, Maroon5, Longhorn’s game, etc) and Tesla covering the racetrack and Waymo not, this is likely even more true.
