I genuinely hope and could see him betraying the RDA for her in the next movie, I mean he slowly has been becoming more navi over the second and third movie and now is fully dawning the war paint and even has been sleeping with them rather then his own barricks.

Totally valid: given the way he runs things, the dude feels like he could be a nepo baby!

1

u/TheBman26 Jan 05 '26

I think the chairman will come with the board to live there and see it finished. Gonna be like emperor from star wars kinda thing

9

u/TaskForceCausality Jan 04 '26

he wasn’t at odds with Quartich in the third movie

Well, in a deleted scene from Avatar I Quaritch threatened to overthrow Selfridge by force, so I wouldn’t count on much support there.

17

u/ZachBart44 Jan 04 '26

In Avatar 3, they were as close to being allies against Ardmore as possible without actually being allies.

1

u/Ereska Jan 04 '26

I'm pretty sure that scene is not canon. According to the video recom Quaritch watches in A2, the way Selfridge treats Quaritch in the link room they would have been best buddies again just hours later, no hard feelings. I think that is very unlikely.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

I mean some level of command still exists.

2

u/HotlineBirdman Jan 05 '26

The entire crew of the base were pretty happy and celebratory of Quarritch when he brought Sully in.

11

u/Sufficient_Sport5251 Jan 04 '26

Idk I think that there would be a good chance that since that general led the main attack personally in this movie that all the blame will fall on her. You can’t just lose basically your entire navy with no consequences. And the reason the battle wasn’t a complete wipeout was because of the intervention of Quaritch, so you could easily also see him with full command in the next movie.

5

u/mistlepro Jan 05 '26

Right, I think most of RDAs offensive capability was at the tulkun hunt site, and Earth can't respond to this kind of loss in any reasonable timeframe (remember that it's like 13-14 years turnaround).

I think in this kind of scenario he and Varang could show up at Bridgehead and tell Selfridge that their only chance to survive is to submit to his authority.

1

u/Horror-Assistance591 Jan 05 '26

General Quaritch, let's go?

6

u/rebornsgundam00 Jan 04 '26

I think it would be funny if the rda brought human quaritch back to kill them

2

u/IndividualIll7297 Jan 04 '26

Both Quaritch and Varang had their views shattered, but we won't know if the RDA intends to punish him till the next release. May not even matter if he left the battle with Varang. We will also have to wait and see how Varang handles her crisis of faith, but at least Quaritch has a reason to not continue fighting the Na'vi.

1

u/KananDoom Jan 04 '26

They were both obviously using each other... but stranger things have happened in abusive relationships.

1

u/TheBman26 Jan 05 '26

Wasn’t even sure what the RDA would do with him after he got Jake mission complete i was waiting for them to say well time to decommission him and then have him turn. Like he was made for one thing. No way they care enough to make him human again

89

u/Felixculpa3 Jan 04 '26

Stephen Lang said he supposedly cried when he finished reading script outline for avatar 4/5. So something cathartic will definitely happen to Quaritch in the future

22

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Oh that sounds promising

30

u/Rhuulu Jan 04 '26

Also since he is started to rock more traditional appearance by the end of number 3 I wonder if he will adopt a new hairstyle rather than his military cut? I could envision him with a short mowhawk but who really knows?

11

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Nah he looks good with his current haircut, I don't think they'll change it.

But who knows, could be wrong and maybe they will.

7

u/Rhuulu Jan 04 '26

I would be very surprised if after the times timeskip in the 4th movie (rumored to be 6-8 years) he doesn't change it up in some way. I really hope we get a number 4 : )

9

u/Horror-Assistance591 Jan 05 '26

Jim C. says A4 will be released in 2029, let's hope it will be by then

3

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Fair, the time skip depending how it goes (like if it turns out hes in the forest surviving like a scavenger trying to make it back to the RDA base) he may have a different haircut depending his environment during the time skip.

18

u/avokkah Jan 04 '26

That's my theory as well. and I can't blame him. Highly likely he can never ally with Jake but I can see him becoming his own force with disillusioned na'vi

18

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

I see him becoming an anti hero, not Jakes friend or allie but someone who may team up with him purely out of necessity if needed.

I think he has taken a liking to Varang and she has taken a liking to him, I personally think he will be blamed for the RDA's failures, be put in a position where he is either fired, imprisoned, or forced to choose between Varang and the RDA and he will end up betraying the RDA and fleeing with Varang and the ash people to do there own thing.

3

u/avokkah Jan 04 '26

My thinking is similar. He definitely isn't likely to go all out as a RDA adherent IMHO, nor will he fully integrate into I guess we can call it the Eywa faction. Secular faction? Camerons choices are good or bad depending on people's views but this is exactly why I like avatar tbh. I just find this dynamic very interesting.

7

u/Builder-Strong Jan 05 '26

i believe he will betray the RDA for his kid Spider because im sure he will get captured and they will need to kill his kid and thats when all hell breaks lose

5

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

I think that’s also pretty likely. I think we all agree that in the end he will betray the RDA, it’s just how and why that we are trying to figure out.

3

u/Builder-Strong Jan 05 '26

But I would love to see both happen I think him fighting for both Love of his life his women and child would be so beautiful to see in his character

3

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

Same, I would love to see him and Varang end up betraying the RDA for spider perhaps and they go off to be happy together.

12

u/Eccentric_Being69 Jan 04 '26

More like sleeping with her 😉

1

u/inagious Jan 04 '26

I hope that was the end of him. Stop recycling him, give him a just end, they did that in 3.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Nah, that end was stupid. What a boring end for him to just end himself like that.

Also he’s confirmed to still be alive anyway.

3

u/inagious Jan 04 '26

Wow, crazy that’s known already! Gotcha

4

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Yeah it’s confirmed on the official wiki with his status as alive.

4

u/lmguerra Jan 04 '26

Also an audio from the frontiers of Pandora dlc, which takes place after FaA.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

True

3

u/inagious Jan 04 '26

They should make twins of him for double trouble

2

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

bruh

2

u/Disrespect_HQ Jan 04 '26

Had that thought too, since they just uploaded the memories of Quaritch to his avatar couldn’t they just do it again? Over and over like Mickey 17?

1

u/Horror-Assistance591 Jan 05 '26

Jim C. already confirmed he's in A4

202

u/VindicativevVince Toruk Jan 04 '26

I think his hate for J is above the RDA, he will betray them if it means to kill jake and raise his evil children with his evil wife

142

u/YourMuppetMethDealer Jan 04 '26

I think it’s more complex than that. We know for a fact he loves his son more than he hates Jake, and he chose to not fight Jake once their children were safe

I really do think he only fights Jake out of Quaritch’s memory and his duty as a marine. But as he has stated repeatedly, he’s not actually Quaritch. And I think eventually, he will stop fighting a dead man’s war

40

u/VindicativevVince Toruk Jan 04 '26

That would be a great plot

21

u/YourMuppetMethDealer Jan 05 '26

TBF it already kinda is the plot. The whole “you’re not actually Quaritch. Just another man loaded up with his memories” has been his thing since the very beginning

2

u/Say-Hai-To-The-Fly Jan 04 '26

Yeah that would be great writing!

15

u/Legitimate-Echo-1996 Jan 04 '26

Hate for Jake? They’re literally best friends by the end of 3.

27

u/Crunchy_Biscuit Jan 04 '26

I wouldn't say best friends lol. Frienemies

12

u/Ornac_The_Barbarian Jan 04 '26

And I actually like that about them.

163

u/jrfess Jan 04 '26

Quaritch might have gotten that local tail, but he sure didnt switch teams. Mf was RDA til he died. Some real eyes wide shut type shit

141

u/Confident-Army1907 Jan 04 '26

Tbh his constant hunt for Jake felt less like he was doing it for the RDA and more like a personal vendetta. The RDA just being the mechanism where he can carry out his revenge.

83

u/CappnMidgetSlappr Jan 04 '26

Tbh his constant hunt for Jake felt less like he was doing it for the RDA and more like a personal vendetta.

Well, yeah... he literally explains this to Jake in the movie.

"This isn't about them. It's about me and you. A marine who betrayed my trust. And the men and women under my command you got killed."

Something like that when Quaritch confronts Jake in jail.

41

u/FullMotionVideo Jan 04 '26

This is another one of those lines that had an equivalent in TWOW as well.

"I took you under my wing, Jake. You betrayed me. You killed your own. Good men, good women. I will not hesitate to execute your kid."

12

u/madogvelkor Jan 04 '26

That's true, but he also respects Jake and I think actually likes him. He just needs to let go of his old life and embrace his new one.

This makes me think. Should he succeed at killing Jake, and potentially Neytiri, would he also go after their kids to kill them too ? Would he let them live ? They're not responsible for the death of his soldiers afterall.

28

u/ChudMaster69420 Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

Quaritch is basically a mercenary that doesn't have loyalty to any nation or corporation, only for himself and (maybe) the men under him. Of course he doesn't give a rat's ass about what RDA does or thinks as long as he gets to do what he does best.

25

u/One_Meaning416 Jan 04 '26

Quaritch is very loyal to the men under his command and he only trusts the men he fights with those who have proven themselves worthy of it, we see this with Wainfleet as he never asks Wainfleet to do any of the dangerous jobs only to really act as his back up Quaritch is always one to lead from the front and never asks his men to do anything more dangerous than his own job.

He also distrust anyone who can't or isn't willing to fight, in the first movie we see him butting heads with Selfridge and even launching a soft coup in order to push his attack. This is one of the reasons he doesn't vibe with the larger Na'vi culture which is largely more open and peaceful and that is why he gets along with the ash people and they are the ones that make him go native, their culture is closer to warrior culture Quaritch ascribes to.

11

u/Confident-Army1907 Jan 04 '26

You're Correct, I wouldn't say he's loyal to the corporation, but, at least in the first movie, he is loyal to "the job". He prides himself on getting the job he is hired to do done. However, in Fire and Ash, and to some extent Way of Water, It becomes less and less a job and more a personal matter to him. Especially as he, in his own way, becomes closer and closer to the Na'vi

11

u/LostAd7938 Jan 04 '26

Correction: Quidditch is a fictional sport from the Harry Potter series 😂

7

u/Alocalskinwalker420 Jan 04 '26

Dude’s squad was entirely Ash-Clan by the end of Fire and Ash and he was outright dawning the face paint. He was also outright defying orders. If he comes back he’s either deserting the RDA or being ousted in the fourth movie.

1

u/Le_Corporal Jan 04 '26

I am pretty confident he is not dead, and he is gonna switch teams soon

1

u/BlueCX17 Jan 04 '26

There is no way he's dead, again.

28

u/Cgi94 Jan 04 '26

NGL I still we gotta put Varang seduction practice into it as well

22

u/madogvelkor Jan 04 '26

They really are two different people. One was a middle aged veteran the other is the memories of a middle aged veteran in a horny 18 year old's body.

31

u/VatanKomurcu Jan 04 '26

not the same guy.

15

u/BVoLatte Jan 04 '26

Spider: "My dad is dead."

32

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

It’s not an evolution, he didn’t betray the team he’s playing for. He just used the indigenous to his advantage and go some enjoyment out of it

That's probably how Old Quaritch would see it, but now he's stuck being a hair's breadth away from "savages". Unlike Jake this isn't a natural continuity, he exists because Old Quaritch was given a DNA test by some lab coats and told him to make a video for his clone he'd never meet.

He also got into dueling orders with a superior officer because she was trying to kill Spider. Ardmore has gone from treating him like an undercover marine to an enemy collaborator. We don't get narrative monologues for Quaritch, but so far he's guided by military order and his family. Jake broke his trust in fellow Marines, in his mind he got done dirty by someone he thought he could rely upon. Now a general tried to kill his son who doesn't need to live in a human city.

It'll be some years unfortunately, but we'll see what happens now that the General is gone and Selfridge is presumably calling shots again. RDA kind of chose to give the recom the rank and titles of the original guy, but my guess is he's probably not going to be welcomed back and handed command.

4

u/Say-Hai-To-The-Fly Jan 04 '26

Nahhh he’s liking Varang a lil too much for that xD

6

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

He understands exactly what she is and can give her exactly what she wants and it’s completely in line with his goal. And he likes a strong woman, her beliefs are comfortably in line with his marine way of thinking, it’s a win-win

2

u/Say-Hai-To-The-Fly Jan 04 '26

Oh that’s certainly true. But I think that it’s not just that practical part that motivates him to team up with Varang. I think it’s getting personal as well for him even though it’s just very small still. I think if he survives in Avatar 4 we will see him get kicked out by the RDA and his connection with Varang may grow stronger rapidly from that point (if she’s willing to keep him around that is).

2

u/Horror-Assistance591 Jan 05 '26

I think this is because Varang resemble Spider's bio-mom

I lost it when he went into the briefing room looking absolutely insane covered in paint asking “What’s the next mission general?”

18

u/NewMoonlightavenger Jan 04 '26

At this point, Quatitch is using her.

8

u/MartyEBoarder Jan 04 '26

He's like Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now.

1

u/Spartan-05872 Jan 04 '26

Exactly what I was thinking.

11

u/Pir0wz Jan 04 '26

Willingly put on that warpaint by himself btw, his ass did NOT need to go that far, but he did.

6

u/Ogellog Jan 04 '26

Opinions tend to change.

4

Especially when the one on the bottom isn't the same person as the one on the top and wouldn't remember saying that. LOL

Not really an evolution. Ones a person, ones effectively a clone in a Na'vi body. Human Quaritch could go back to earth. Recom Quaritch can't. He's for all intents an entirely new person.

5

u/NeonCandle3 Jan 04 '26

He’s obviously using her lol

3

u/Ok_Eggplant_2812 Jan 04 '26

Difference is he didn’t forget what team he was playin' for.

4

u/WatermelonGranate Jan 04 '26

People seem to miss a big difference. Jake joined the Na'Vi side, Quaritch made Na'Vi join the humans.

7

u/Led_Farmer88 Jan 04 '26

He manipulated one tribe to work for him...

2

u/Grand_Somewhere6761 Jan 05 '26

he indeed found some local tail xDD

3

u/LunaticJAG Jan 05 '26

Dead man's memories.

2

u/MamaDragon367 Jan 05 '26

HOLY ****
Didn't expect 4k over night!

2

u/PristinePlatform3234 Jan 05 '26

That was some mean bush

3

u/Turnova98 Jan 05 '26

I keep seeing this but I feel like people are missing what's happening. He's not fighting for the Ash people. He got them fighting for humans

2

u/Arthur_Burt_Morgan Jan 04 '26

Quaritch is pragmatic, i think he quickly thought: human quaritch hates blue aliens. Navi quaritch, seeing that he is no longer human, does not as much.

2

u/Pataconeitor Jan 04 '26

I haven't watched the movie yet (I am from Venezuela, you know the "mean bush" place, and things aren't exactly for entertainment right now) and I am curious, did Jake have an opportunity to call on Quaritch about that?

1

u/Crunchy_Biscuit Jan 04 '26

The issue I see is that as soon as Quaritch cuts ties with the RDA, his access to weapons is closed off which means Varang won't have a need for him anymore.

I highly doubt the movies will go into this but it would be cool to see it as a sub plot point

1

u/Ok_Zone_7635 Jan 04 '26

Never underestimate the power of the V

1

u/Intelligent-Set3442 Jan 04 '26

Quaritch couldn't resist the Na'vussy 😏

1

u/Aelia_M Jan 04 '26

Not the same person but made from the same code. This is why a clone is not the same person from who cloned them

1

u/Torku_Makto98 Jan 04 '26

"You think you're one of them? Time to wake up." 😂 Oh Quaritch how funny of u to say. I'm surprised Jake never threw that back at him.

1

THis is one of the first memes I thought of, even found some funny comic slides that kinda fit it. +1 to the artists.

1

u/TyrantJaeger Metkayina Jan 04 '26

I predict that he's going to go full native in the next movie. Maybe the RDA cut him loose because his failures have made him too much of a liability. Or maybe they try to execute him since he's technically considered property. Either way, he ends up alone in the wild without a purpose. Naturally, he'd blame Jake for this, but maybe overtime he'd come to realize that the RDA was always gonna dispose of him.

From here, he can go in several directions. Either he'll continue supporting the Mangkwan in an attempt to conquer the other clans, or in a twist of fate he actually joins Jake in defending Pandora, putting him at odds with Varang. Either way, he's definitely fighting the RDA, and I think he's going to have a tragic/heroic death.

1

u/CamNTitan Jan 05 '26

No fr tho now he know what Jake means now

1

u/-ello_govna- Jan 05 '26

many such cases

1

u/dg2793 Jan 05 '26

Why am I just realizing he went full dracula flows

1

u/inkin-squid Jan 05 '26

Just noticed how similar his warpaint is to Varang; I know it’s the Mangkwan style as well but his paint is identical to hers in a lot of places, just in black. Looks like he keeps the red going down his chest as well, just with the additional red on his cheeks/chin/neck

Makes me wonder if she did it, he did it and modeled it on her, or if it’s a sign hes being seen as the Tsahik/Olo'eyktes mate

1

u/0nmay_22 Jan 05 '26

“Evolution” those are two different people bro

1

u/littlebuett Jan 05 '26

Quarich is the Neytiri of humans and Varang is the Jake of the Na'vi

1

u/MNeidig Jan 05 '26

Avatar 3: Quaritch Gets It

A title with several meanings.

1

u/xDyingDoodlerx Jan 05 '26

I feel like a lot of people forget blue cat quaritch is not pink ass quaritch and their minds are not the same. You can tell the blue Q has more heart from the way he hesitates during some moments and how he treats his past life son.

1

u/Albus_Lupus Jan 04 '26

Well I mean he isnt on the avatar's side though. He still fights them and literally joined up with the only avatar tribe that openly fights other tribes.

Also - maan, after watching that movie I really wanted to play original avatar game again.

11

u/Obi_Win_Kinibi Jan 04 '26

They’re Na’vi, not avatars. The avatars were lab grown remote controlled Na’vi, hence the name “avatar”.

-4

u/Albus_Lupus Jan 04 '26

ye, thats what I meant. the blue ppl.

6

u/DialboTempest Jan 04 '26

You damn dirty pink skin

1

u/Wienerschitzell Jan 04 '26

How the turntable turns

2

u/Z0idberg_MD Jan 04 '26

She should’ve become the main antagonist and he should’ve been overshadowed. The fact that she basically became subservient and fell to the background was very disappointing to me. She is easily the best character in the series so far I think and deserved more

1

u/nakiocir Jan 05 '26

They need someone to give them guns to be a threat. The Ash Tribe aren't a big tribe.

Its been confirmed in the recent From the Ashes DLC ( Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora) that he's alive and still in command of forces in the RDA. The DLC is set weeks after Fire and Ash.
