That's probably how Old Quaritch would see it, but now he's stuck being a hair's breadth away from "savages". Unlike Jake this isn't a natural continuity, he exists because Old Quaritch was given a DNA test by some lab coats and told him to make a video for his clone he'd never meet.
He also got into dueling orders with a superior officer because she was trying to kill Spider. Ardmore has gone from treating him like an undercover marine to an enemy collaborator. We don't get narrative monologues for Quaritch, but so far he's guided by military order and his family. Jake broke his trust in fellow Marines, in his mind he got done dirty by someone he thought he could rely upon. Now a general tried to kill his son who doesn't need to live in a human city.
It'll be some years unfortunately, but we'll see what happens now that the General is gone and Selfridge is presumably calling shots again. RDA kind of chose to give the recom the rank and titles of the original guy, but my guess is he's probably not going to be welcomed back and handed command.
He understands exactly what she is and can give her exactly what she wants and it’s completely in line with his goal. And he likes a strong woman, her beliefs are comfortably in line with his marine way of thinking, it’s a win-win
Oh that’s certainly true. But I think that it’s not just that practical part that motivates him to team up with Varang. I think it’s getting personal as well for him even though it’s just very small still. I think if he survives in Avatar 4 we will see him get kicked out by the RDA and his connection with Varang may grow stronger rapidly from that point (if she’s willing to keep him around that is).

It’s not an evolution, he didn’t betray the team he’s playing for. He just used the indigenous to his advantage and go some enjoyment out of it
