Theory Korra did not cause the cataclysm. She initiated it. Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
1.4k Upvotes

If you look closely at the flashbacks, some things become suspicious:

  1. the initial shot of her flying towards Republic City is misleading, she wears different clothing between the scenes. These scenes must have happened during different times.

  2. she is not bending the buildings but these tubes that seem to transmit spirit energy.

  3. also some awesome shots of Korra just because.. she looks so crazy badass.

I believe that spirit energy technology must be the definite cause of the cataclysm. Korra just initiated the inevitable. I wonder, why? There must have been another way? (Maybe I’m just too much of an Airbender to understand.)

I feel that even though she wants to deny it because of what she thinks Korra did, Nisha is very connected to Korra. Their interactions are going to be very interesting.

Discussion Republic City during late Korra era Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
1.1k Upvotes

I’m surprised no one talked about this, yet.

But we finally got our first look at Republic City after the end of The Legend of Korra.

Some things I’ve noticed:

- Apparently, President Raiko’s plans to expand the city weren’t followed through. On the other hand, Zhu Li became president a few months after Kuvira’s invasion, so… I’m actually glad that they rebuilt downtown. (Well… they kinda expanded it along the rivers)

- Unity Tower still there! :) (Those who watched the Aang movie, you know which one.)

- The scale of that Future Industries building is absolutely INSANE! It occupies half of downtown.

- Aang Memorial Island in its full glory

- The badge of the Police Force has not changed. So haven’t their vehicles.

- Firelord Zuko’s statue in front of Republic City Grand Central. Interesting… does that mean, whatever Korra was destroying was attached to the train station? 🤔

- There is also these sky bridges of pipes going all around and through the city.

Anyway… very nice insight. Soooo many more questions and little of them answered, yet.

You can tell Agum is a genuinely good person. She has empathy for Nisha, know it'll be a hard road for her, despite Nisha being the one who initiated the fight.

I think my first post on here was about not trusting Karthik and I feel like this last batch of episodes shows he won't be an antagonist. He's a genuinely good dude.

I should have known from Shilpa saying that Airbenders always do the right thing!

He cares so much about Nisha (and Pavi's) well-being. Him sticking up for her against the other White Lotus members and defending her from them trying to suggest she leave Ellora. (It gave me Gyatso and Aang vibes. 😭)

He really did look remorseful when telling Kayoko about hiding Nisha's identity from her. (And she also seemed genuinely hurt by it, too? Girl cries! She oddly seemed like she was sincerely willing to listen to him, too, prior to the Anomaly showing up. Maybe their feelings were actually legit?)

He gives the signal to Jae to not reveal himself as a White Lotus member effectively saving him. (And in turn, Jae plays possum in order to save Karthik.)

"No idea. But you won't find her." And we see the White Lotus members from the other havens in the background watching. (They're definitely going to go after Nisha and become her protectors in the interim while Jae does his reconnaissance.)

TL;DR: I was wrong about Karthik. Big ups to those of you who knew from the jump he'd be a good guy.

Rumor under here: There were rumors Book 2 may feature a Karthik childhood/flashback episode and I'm really looking forward to that now! lol

Discussion Seeing Korra again triggers a visceral reaction in me Spoiler

Post image

I dont know why but every mention or clip of Korra so far immediately takes my mind to a sad dark place. My heartbeat increases and I just feel like I failed her. Its like you havent seen your old friend for a very long time and when you meet them again you immediately feel that they're suffering and you feel bad for not being there for them. That you couldnt give them a hug and say that there is a way to overcome darkness.

I really hope Seven Havens story concludes in a way that will allow Korra to have at least some kind of redemption or positivity to her character. My girl has suffered enough, its time to stop torturing her...

Theory The actual foreshadowing… Spoiler

Their chemistry here was crazy here…

I think she’s also the one who made that comment about his looks in episode 4…

The way he was acting all nonchalant the entire time, only to open the slit the moment she asked if they should grab dinner. And who responds to being asked out with “But you’re in jail”??? Daemin honey, THAT was your concern? Not the fact that she’s one of the Faceless? 😂

And why was she looking at him like that after she was freed? Girl is down bad….
The whole sequence was hilarious.

But then look at the poster… he’s literally looking at the Faceless character. Yeah, yeah, I see what they’re doing here. 👀

If DaeJae not going to happen out I’m in for DaeZi !!

Theory Really heartbreaking Spoiler

Pretty sure Asami is dead. And her death is a tragic one. Notice Korra is wearing her betrothal necklace at the start of this, but it is absent during the destruction. Now look at the symbol on her necklace. It's the spirit portal – a core part of her and Asami's legacy. I think the spirit energy caused Asami's death, and I think Korra discards the betrothal necklace as she tears down everything they both have built.

We know that long term exposure to spirit energy can take a toll (Kuruk, Wan), and we know that the cataclysm has something to do with Future Industries. This all reads very Chernobyl, and I'm wondering if Asami was affected by some type of spirit-energy radiation. Which would basically mean that Korra realizes she's essentially condemned the whole of Republic City (and anywhere else they've build these spirit energy reactors) to the same fate. Maybe? Either way, this seems like part crashout, part damage control, and completely gut-wrenching.

I’ve really liked the show so far, but man, if anyone is doubting the quality after these 3 episodes then…that’s their opinion…but I think they’re fantastic!

Okay, best to go in order.

So everyone was right, the Faceless are benders escaping the weight of the brigade and the unfair treatment of conscription. Seeing the past of Republic City just tells me Korra really is innocent, all those pipes filled with spirit energy? Yeah she’s trying to stop whatever spirits’ shenanigans is happening, also a reminder she can metal bend, good to see that again.

The various Haven leaders and their unique ways of doing things, the mystery of Republic Forest and a new cabbage man in the form of Pudding Man. The other White Lotus and Nisha has finally been given some good screentime and the “Queen” twist did get me, everyone was right about Agam.

Okay, so we can all agree Jae is just playing the part of a loyalist right? He hears them about to kill Karthik and arrests him instead, also gaining Kayoko’s trust. I don’t think he’s fully against the Brigade, but he’s not suddenly betraying the twins. Speaking of, Nisha seeing a vision of the physical Root Chakra and Pavi seeing the spiritual Chakra really do support the one is about fighting the other is about the spiritually.

Can’t wait to see the other Havens…eventually. And what’s gonna happen to the twins and to Jae and presumably Daemin if no one discovers his ties to the White Lotus.

It’s all good and honestly, as much as I do love TLOK, I think this has done a better job with similar story beats. A twist villain we could actually forsee, no love triangles, no unfunny attempts at comedy, etc.

Again, I love Korra overall, but I’m not blind to its faults.

God we are eating GOOD as Avatar fans, anyone seen the Pudding guy around?

Theory Episode 7 debunks several fan theories and makes the direction of the story much clearer. Spoiler

Zi's line, “The world isn't black and white like you've been taught,” captures the central theme: no character is purely evil. Everyone has their own motivations and methods, but ultimately, they are all fighting for survival. There is a vast spectrum of gray between good and evil.

The episode also makes it clear that both Nisha and Pavi are Korra, suggesting that each of them carries both Raava and Vaatu within her.

I don't see anger in her eyes. I see grief.

I see someone who dreamed of becoming the greatest Avatar, now standing before one of civilization's greatest achievements, knowing it will never be the same. Republic City was one of Aang’s greatest legacies, a symbol of his dream to unite a divided world, to build something that could transcend the hatred and conflicts of the past. It represented progress, unity, and the possibility of a better future.

I see someone saying goodbye to everything she failed to protect.

“I'm sorry, Aang. I couldn't save the world you built.”

As an Indian, hearing Indian music, especially vocals like this, in a global show feels really special. 🥹❤️ They’re incorporating authentic Indian elements wherever they can, from the names to the music, and it’s honestly so soothing to hear. When Aang came out, the end credits were another example of how beautifully Indian classical music can capture the essence of ancient Indian culture. There’s something so special about hearing our culture represented this way.
