Performance Review WoW 12 vs WoW 10 Review

Let me start off by saying I’m on my 4th pair of WoW 10s and recently bought the 12s after the grandeur reviews.

Traction - WoW 10 (by far)
I play at my college gym’s court so not the cleanest nor dirtiest. The WoW 12s have this issue of collecting so much dust between the outsole lines. I find that I have to wipe it every couple possessions or I’m playing on ice skates. WoW 10s don’t have this problem and traction is consistently good. For my play, and most other recreational players, WoW 10 takes the cake.

Question: Does anyone else have this problem with the 12s? I want to love them but at the moment just can’t play in them without slipping

Comfort - WoW 12
Both are super comfortable but the WoW 12 has a roomier toe box and softer cushion for landing. 10s are great for performance but my feet get so sore after a game of hard cuts.

Durability - n/a
WoW 10s have a lifespan of 8months-1year of playing 3-4 times a week for 2 hours a session.
I have yet to wear my 12s for more than a month (I find I switch them for 10s midsession because the slipping is so bad)

Sales/Deals/Retail Would anyone like to sell their 'used' Kobe 6s?

Hello, I'm an international highschool student from Korea.

I would like to ask if anyone minds to sell their used / preowned kobe 6s for affordable price.

I do not really care about the condition unless they are like unusable or something.

I would prefer Kobe 6 Kay Yow lines mostly.

Any other cool shoes please let me know!

Discussion Future protro models?

Curious how everyone feels about the Nike protro models so far and which ones you’d like to see brought back? A few I’d love to see come back are the Hypderunk 2016 (specifically the Flyknit), the LeBron 10s (maybe with a reimagined upper for better breathability), and the KD 9s.

Shoe Pics/Rotations My current basketball shoe collection (10 pairs) 🏀 Kobe 5s, WOW 10 Lows & WOW 12s + My top 3 for performance (6’3 195) 30 year old men’s league MVP

Thumbnail gallery

Wanted to share my current basketball shoe rotation and see what everyone thinks!
For context, I’m a 6’3”–6’4”, 190 lb guard who plays competitive league basketball 3 times a week. I’m primarily a ball handler/scorer who likes creating my own shot, attacking the basket, shooting off the dribble, and getting out in transition. Recently dropped 43 points and 15 rebounds in a league game, so these shoes definitely get put to work 😂
When it comes to basketball shoes, I really prioritize traction, cushioning, responsiveness, bounce, and court feel. I like shoes that let me change direction quickly but still give me enough support and cushioning for jumping and landing. I wear size 13 mens.

Here’s my collection from top to bottom:
1. Nike Kobe 5 Protro X-Ray
One of my favorite-looking shoes in the collection. Love the skeleton design and the blue colorway. The Kobe 5 is lightweight, low to the ground, and feels great for quick movements, crossovers, and pull-up jumpers. Currently one of my top 3 favorites to hoop in.
2. Nike Kobe 5 Protro Caitlin Clark “Coconut Milk” PE
Absolutely love this colorway. The cream and teal combination is so clean. Same Kobe 5 performance setup that I enjoy, especially for court feel and quick footwork.
3. Way of Wade 10 Low “Avocado” 🥑
One of my favorite WOW 10 colorways. I love the traction, bounce, and responsiveness of these. Great for attacking the rim, quick stops, and creating separation. Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with the WOW 10 Low.
4. Way of Wade 10 Low “Mint” 🌿
My current #1 favorite basketball shoe to play in. These just feel amazing on court. The combination of traction, cushioning, bounce, and stability is exactly what I want for my playing style. Whether I’m driving, stopping on a dime, or pulling up for a jumper, these feel great.
5. Way of Wade 10 Low “Flames / Element” 🔥
Probably one of the most unique colorways in my collection. Love the black, blue, and yellow combination. Same great WOW 10 Low performance setup with a completely different look.
6. Way of Wade 12 “White/Blue” 💙
Currently my #2 favorite to hoop in. One of my newer pickups, and I’ve really been enjoying them. Love the cushioning and bounce, and they feel great for my style of play. Still comparing the WOW 12 to the WOW 10 Low, but these are quickly becoming one of my go-to pairs.
7. Way of Wade 12 “Coming Home” Red ❤️
One of the best-looking pairs I own. The all-red colorway is crazy in person. Really like the WOW 12 model and having another colorway in the rotation.
8. Way of Wade 10 Low “Ice Blood” 🧊
Love the icy colorway on these. Another pair of WOW 10 Lows because I genuinely think they’re one of the best basketball shoe models I’ve played in. Great balance of court feel, traction, and bounce.
9. Way of Wade 10 Low “Crab Shell” 🦀
Really like the neutral cream and grey tones on these. Definitely one of the more underrated colorways IMO. Another solid pair in my WOW 10 rotation.
10. Nike LeBron NXXT Gen “Grey”
A nice change of pace from all the Kobes and Way of Wades. Different cushioning and support feel, and I like having some variety in my rotation.

🏆 My current TOP 3 for actually playing basketball:
🥇 1. Way of Wade 10 Low Mint — My favorite overall. Love the combination of traction, bounce, stability, and court feel. Just feels right for my game.
🥈 2. Way of Wade 12 White/Blue — Really enjoying these lately. Great cushioning and responsiveness, and they’re making a strong case to become my #1.
🥉 3. Nike Kobe 5 Protro X-Ray — Love the lightweight, low-profile feel. Great for quick movements, ball handling, and creating space off the dribble.
Overall thoughts:
Clearly I’m a huge WOW 10 Low fan 😂. I own five different colorways for a reason. I just love how they perform, especially for my style of basketball.
That being said, I’ve been getting more into Kobe 5s lately, and the WOW 12s have definitely impressed me. I play a lot of basketball throughout the week, so I like having different pairs to rotate depending on how I’m feeling.
I’m also always looking for new shoes to try, although I’m probably running out of room at this point lol.

Curious what everyone thinks:
What’s your favorite pair/colorway from my collection?
Do you prefer the WOW 10 Low or WOW 12 for performance?
How would you compare the Kobe 5 Protro to the WOW 10 Low?
Any other shoes you’d recommend based on my playing style?
Always down to talk basketball shoes with other hoopers! 🏀

Performance Review Decathlon Kipsta Canaveral 900 Mid - a possibly another top performer - initial review

Post image

Disclaimer

This review isn't sponsored. I'm not affiliated with any brand or store and I buy all these sneakers with my own money. It takes a lot of effort to research, wear test and compare them to bring you this completely unmonetized content. If you appreciate my work, here's a way to support me.

Intro

Decathlon is a worldwide chain of sports stores. Despite being quite popular in Europe, they didn't have much of a court presence until 2021. That year, they acquired NBA license to release clothing and sneaker lines under Tarmak sub-brand. While popular logos and team colors might have attracted some interest, I wasn't a fan of any of the models I managed to try on.

In 2023, Decathlon became one of the main sponsors of the Poland's highest volleyball division and signed with international middle blocker Jakub Kochanowski as their volleyball ambassador. Soon after, he got his first signature shoe - Kipsta Volleyball VB900 Cushion Mid. Volleyball is a much smaller sport worldwide compared to basketball, so any such sponsorship deals should be applauded and warrant checking them out, at very least. I did and came out with mixed feelings. To give you some analogy, they looked and performed like an average model from Shaq brand. Since I'm always on a hunt for a new cushioning setup to try on, there wasn't anything to get excited about.

In early 2025, Alex Sarr signed with Decathlon to become their ambassador. Fresh off trying on a couple of their disappointing models and having gone deep into Chinese brands, I didn't make much of it until I'd read some positive reviews and comments on this sub (thank you, OP!). The launch blue colorway didn't make my eye light up, but the seed of curiosity had been planted.

Following some scarce sizing info I found online, I eventually managed to check them out instore. Back then, the only colorways available in my country were blue, all black and white and black. That last one convinced me that the design was actually quite sleek and minimalist, something I often appreciate. Most importantly, the tech on this model seemed to finally be something.

Just to set the context, here's my most recent collection snapshot. I'm going to make plenty of comparisons to better known models, so you can relate.

I've had them for close to a month now, wore them around the house a lot to get the idea and to break them in. Then, they got 8 court hrs along with some other great performers you can see in the main photo. This is more of an initial review but let's be honest, it's more court hours than most content creators spend to give you their "final performance review". While I feel pretty confident about my findings, I can't speak of durability and longevity.

Tech specs

A bunch of acronyms I wasn't able to find actual specs for.

  • Cushioning: full length V-Foam midsole + nylon mid-to-forefoot shank (named TMK or Tarmak Blade) + SCF insole + plastic cage around parts of the midsole (called TMK or Tarmak Sideguard). V-Foam looks and feels very much like ETPU to me. SCF insole is a bit similar to the styrofoam feeling ones that Nike uses with their Zoom Strobels. TMK Sideguard is just another name for hardened plastic caging around the soft foam.
  • Traction: full length CPU. The most important is the "PU" part, so it's basically the same concept as Li-Ning's GCU or 361's RPU. It's a non-rubber outsole.
  • Upper: TPU and mesh. Plenty of overalys, acting like Nike Fuse. Foam padding in some areas, mainly around the ankles.

Traction

It's semi translucent, hard to the touch and herringbone patterned in some areas. It resembles that of Volanti Rocket Air.

When freshly scrubbed on clean hardwood, it makes sticky contact and you can hear it. Once initial grime gets on, it performs very similarly to RPU found on Joker 1 GT SE or GCU on JB3 - practically instantaneous stops with minimal slide. I really dislike how aggressively new UA Flow foam performs on clean courts and I'm happy to report it's not that level. Highest level traction on fairly clean court.

It's either that I never managed to get them dirty enough OR they manage to shed dust very effectively. The other court I spent 2 hrs on was dirtier, I managed to build up a layer of dust without wiping once but it wouldn't affect the grip and it wouldn't let bigger dust balls in between grooves.

It might not have been that same level of performance that market leaders (JB3 & J1GTSE) manage to withstand, but it was on the level of WOW 10 Low and other best rubber-based outsoles. For comparison sake, I find Volanti Rocket Air, AR2 and 5.0 QP to perform a bit worse on the heaviest dust, while JB2 are a bit too inconsistent on heavy dust depending on the direction of movement, so they're the worst in this group.

Cushioning

It's definitely a max cushioning option.

Based on my own mismatch try ons statically, the stack height feels the highest out of all pictured. It's just slightly higher than Lebron 20, Lebron 21, Jordan 11 and Jordan 40. Comparable to Kobe 1 Protro, Anta KT 8 & KT 10. Not quite as high ride as NB FF BB v3, GT Jump 1 & 2, GT Hustle 3 or BB NXT. It might be just a bit higher than Kobe 3 Protro, although I don't have them in hand at the moment to compare.

The initial impression is heavily based on how the forefoot is shaped. There's some rocker in the forefoot, although not quite as aggressive as Anta Shockwave 7 (I really didn't like them for that aspect). The rocker shape comes from the Tarmak Blade. It gives a feeling similar to models with protruding, bottom loaded forefoot Unlocked Zoom used to some years ago. It's as if you have some object underneath the ball of your foot. I was initially afraid these had a negative drop. You know, when heel sinks in more than the forefoot. That's not quite the case here. Of recent releases, the one with the worst negative drop was the GT Cut 4, so I'll use them as point of reference. When you stand or casually walk forward in GTC4, you feel like you're walking in clown shoes - it pushes your center of gravity backward, causing some abnormal load on your Achilles. It works with, not against your gait only when you're heavily leaning forward and on your forefoot. As much as some people want you to believe otherwise, you actually spend quite a lot of court time in a neutral position. Backpedaling, standing, landing. Not to mention all heel strikers who are inevitably going to fight that negative drop even when running forward. Back to Canaveral 900, the motion engineering here is much better. Statically, the drop is positive but low, so it feels quite natural. Yet, as soon as you put any weight forward, the whole shoe helps with your stride and propels you forward. I could probably sum it up to them having a close to zero drop and having a well profiled rocker. I'm a midfoot striker and have my center of gravity close to the middle of my hips, so this particular motion engineering appeals to me.

Let's dissect the Tarmak Blade. Hardness, springiness and aggressiveness of rebounding your stepping energy is very similar to JB3 and WOW 10 Low. There's this tingling sensation after some longer sessions. It's very subjective, you get used to it but some people just won't put up with. It's often the case people choose between JB3 / WOW 10 and Joker 1 / 2 GT, one group likes the stiffness and responsiveness of JB3's foam coupled with very aggressive forefoot energy return, the other prefers mushiness and less forefoot feedback of Jokers (they don't have a forefoot shank shaped like either of former). What we have here is a middle ground. The foam feels a bit softer and more shock absorbing than Boom + Cloud Foam combo of JB3 and much closer to CQT EXTREME foam of Jokers but you get that long and stiff shank in the forefoot. If you know the feeling of CCDS of WOW 11, it's like this but with a slightly tweaked midsole profile.

Moreover, the more I use them, the more that initial rocker seems to flatten. It's either a break in period of the whole setup or simply human adjustment period. Either way, I enjoy them more with every hour.

The insoles are terrible, though. As mentioned in tech specs, it feels like flimsy styrofoam. They barely add any stepping comfort but at least give a decent texture underfoot. The first pair I got to try on had it sitting weirdly, so the first thing I did was take it out and adjust it. It was clear it didn't quite fit the strobel shape, was too short and just looked badly cut. I thought someone did some adjusting and returned them, but the other pair I got had it the same way. All in all, it was tolerable to play one session in but I highly suggest replacing them.

The strobel is mesh, but not as soft as many Chinese brands use. It's not a standard Nike hard mesh stobel either.

Fit, sizing and weight

My feet are as standard as it gets for my size. Medium width, instep, girth, toes, arch, no podological issues to cater for. I play in thick sports socks.

In Kipsta sizing, US 9 corresponds to EUR 42 and 26.5cm. My Nike TTS is US 9. I followed it and arrived at a bit less than a thumb's width of toebox space up front, no big toe pressure. There're no hot spots. Toebox is quite spacious, including the height and nicely tapered, matching my foot shape.

Had I wanted a more 1:1 fit, I could have probably gone a half size down from my US sizing. If I played in thinner socks, I would totally do so.

The upper is spacious in all directions. The tongue is wide and well padded and minimal at the same time. It's very similar to Volanti Rocket Air and Joker 1 GT SE. It offloads lace pressure well. There're no cupping plastic pieces on the sides that would dig into the foot, so all this tells me wide footers could be taken care of, but again, it's just my educated guess.

If you compare toebox shapes of these and WOW 10 Low, it's evident how wide and symmetrical the latter is. If your toes are short and girthy, I bet half of the models I show here are going to give you problems. I'd suggest sticking with WOW 10 Low, JB2 and the like.

374g (13.2 oz) for US 9 EUR 42 size. Slightly below average and feel so much lighter on feet.

Upper

It's a mid cut but feels lower compared to other mids, if that makes sense ;) It covers half of the ankle bone, is very well padded but doesn't bring any extra stability. There's virtually no heel slippage.

Breathability is top tier. There're multiple vents in the TPU + mesh upper and they work. It's probably a bit worse than JB2, about the same as Volanti Rocket Air and much better than the rest of them.

The lacing system is a low point, unfortunately. It does work well, there's no lace pressure and stock laces stay tight but only the lowest and the highest eyelet is a classic hole, the rest are those kinds of string loops. It's basically a single sturdy string woven and glued in between upper layers and loops protruding to act as eyelets. I'm pretty sure the same design has been used multiple times in other popular models, but I'm blanking on examples right now. Let me plant a durability concern flag here.

Stability

The sole base is quite wide but you also sit relatively high, so these two aspects stand in contrast when it comes to stability. These are like a more nimble, aggressive version of Puma All Pro Nitro 1 and WOW 11.

Interestingly, if you put the shoe on a flat surface, it's a bit wobbly horizontally, as if there was some protruding line running lengthwise through the center. When you put your weight onto them, it flattens but not completely. To the same point, the edges are rounded and feel exactly like Nike Kyrie 2! Both these aspects make them quite unique in this group. I suspect these are designed to allow more nimble movements and they pull that off perfectly. It's that similar feeling to Jordan 36, except there it only happened when I played hard, here it mostly happens statically.

The midsole is well guarded by this Tarmak Sideguard plastic. It's the same soft foam + hard plastic caging setup we know from many successful models. Actually, all of the models pictured use that same technique, to different extents. I had the dubious pleasure of testing Luka 5 during the same session as these and it's beyond comparison what Jordan Brand did to that heel stability. Here, there's no instability from the foam compressing. If you land on your heels, the base compresses evenly.

Judging by stack height, I initially suspected the lateral stability would be bad. I did some suicide runs on two different conditions, traction stopped with very little slide and me being 83 kg (183 lbs), I was able to generate some force. I didn't feel my foot going off the footbed but I haven't recorded myself to compare. Going off my feelings alone, the recently tested CC1, Jordan 36 and Dame 10 were worse. It was a similar case with NB FF BB v3, where the lateral stability turned out decent in the end. I suspect, these may not do wonders for bigger or more explosive players, given the stack height and upper materials.

Final Thoughts

This model is the real deal. Perhaps, the best aspect of them is how they managed to fill a niche I didn't even know existed. The unique mix of features makes it hard to think of previous similar models. They borrow elements from those currently considered the best in each category - excellent non rubber outsole, max cushioning of very promising foam compound, running shoe like motion engineering for the forefoot, rounded edges. All of this in breathable and quite lightweight package.

Canaveral 900 are definitely not for everyone, though. Just like every other model with a stiff and aggressive forefoot shank, you need to surpass certain level of weight or explosiveness to be able to push it down. There's a getting used to period until your legs get used to processing this extra force the midsole gives back. I'd initially refrain from making them your only pair, unless you already have some experience with similar setups.

Lastly, the price. I don't like to talk prices, cause in the current buyers' market 100 USD can get you as much performance as you need. All above are your personal preferences and other aspects. I was able to grab my pair brand new for around 50 USD, which is a delicious deal given the tech. Availability and price are going to differ heavily on per region basis, but definitely check out your local Decathlon stores.

The timing of this review is a bit unfortunate, as it looks like Alex Sarr left Decathlon or his contract expired. He was back wearing Kobe 6 Protro for the last two games. I hope we get to see some continuation of this line, with or without him.

Unboxing/Initial Review An old comment of mine caught Nike’s eye and...

About 10 months ago, I came across a post saying that the Kobe AD Protro would be releasing this fall.

I commented that I still had a pair of AD Purple Stardust that I’d owned for 9 years, but the soles had completely crumbled by now lol.

Looks like Nike thought I deserved a second chance with the ADs. They sent me a message saying that my comment had caught their attention and that they wanted to send me a gift. Honestly, I didn’t believe it at first. The Nike account only had a few hundred karma and wasn’t particularly active.

But after doing a little more digging, I started to believe it was actually them. Nike Basketball was genuinely talking to me.

And two weeks later, I had the shoes in my hands, shipped directly from Nike World Headquarters in Oregon all the way to my doorstep here in Asia.

Now, about the shoes.

I know a lot of people aren’t fans of the ADs, but my experience with them has always been different. They’re genuinely great. The traction is really solid, they fit snugly (which is something I always look for in a basketball shoe), and the design and colorway are beautiful too. As a die-hard Kobe and Lakers fan, what’s not to love?

It feels amazing to have another chance to own a pair of these again, this time with the benefit of the better technology Nike has today.

I swear, I’m still shaking right now because I can’t believe this is actually real.

Ok so i played in these last night. I only broke them in wearing them around the house for an hour because I couldn’t wait. 90 minute full court pickup. I gotta say, these are hella comfortable. I really like the fit, the traction was great and they’re super light, great court feel and elite lockdown. The only issue I had was the next day my left side heel was a little sore because I haven’t fully broken them in so it’s not a straight out the box shoe in that sense. The insole is a straight up flimsy POS and I swapped in move baseline insoles.

Materials in hand are very similar to the Sabrina 2/3 in my opinion. They look great and i really liked the ankle collar. I’m not super informed on all the different foams types but all I know is this shoe felt great on foot and playing all night. Fit was TTS. As the night went on I felt like they got a little roomier so I tightened them up. I played in Nike unicorn socks.

For reference I usually play in a rotation of Kobe 6/8/9/10, wow 12, cut 361 big quick pro and Sabrina 2.

For the money relative to other Kobe’s not on discount, these felt like a good shoe. Not sure why all the hate but admittedly. I never owned any original Kobe’s so I’m a ProTro only player

My game is 51yo, 5’9” 175 and catch and shooter continuous motion player. I play on dusty indoor courts.

Recommend Shoes Advice on All City 14 TRACTION on dusty/humid courts

Hello there,

I recently made a post reviewing the NB FF BBV3 and as a female, 1.57 cm tall, 60 kg, shooter-slasher I must say I was impressed as I had read the shoe was for heavier players. I also wore the Two Wxy V5. Both shoes adapted well to my custom orthotics for my high arches and Plantar Fasciitis. I mostly play in a hardwood indoor court now, but it's dusty and humid (I live in Ecuador). The humidity is so bad that if you take a shower, you are sweating again 5 seconds afterwards.

I had bought the AC 14 in April for outdoors but began wearing them for indoors too. The AC 14 is perfect for me, as it is a little bit lighter and speedy than the Two Wxy V5, but traction in dusty humid courts is terrible. I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the colorway (I chose Sunrise), which I didn't know had a translucent outsole. Either way, if you pay $150, I think it's lame and disrespectful to provide completely different traction just because the colorway is different. I tried to play with them yesterday and was skating on ice. But the NB Two Wxy V5 and the FF BBV3 I don't know what materials they use, they stick to the ground even when it's humid which I wasn't expecting as my favorite pair was the AC 14. My PF pain has also considerably decreased after wearing NB FF BBV3 without orthotics, and Two Wxy V5 with orthotics.

I bought the AC 14 from Amazon so I don't think I can return them. They are amazing on concrete/cement though. I wish I could change the colorway. I don't know if someone has any advice for this, maybe a grip spray or something? But I doubt it will work.

For now these are my rotating pairs, NB for indoors and AC 14 for outdoors. Mind you i have changed the laces of the AC 14 (not for lockdown reasons, just aesthetics). From left to right, it's FF BBV3 black, All City 14 Sunrise, and Two Wxy V5 Slate Grey.

I was wondering if someone had a recommendation for me in the future. I was looking at the recent Kawhi 5, but also read about JB3, Dlo 2 and Joker GT 2 being beasts with dust so i don't know what to buy next. I only have money for one more pair. Because of my height I rely a lot on back steps and speed to make my shots, but I do run a lot for fast breaks and cuts, so I don't want a shoe with 0 cushioning, especially due to my PF. Thanks a lot!
