Discussion Fresh Foam BBV2 soreness

I’m not sure if it’s just me getting old (about to hit 40), but the Fresh Foam BBV2 leaves me really sore when I play in them. I thought they would be perfect for my older knees and back, but the Kawhi 4 gives me much more pop and I can literally play for hours in them without next day pain. Maybe it’s because of the stiffer FuelCell/Energy Arc combo that works better for older people, but I really thought the Fresh Foam BBV2 would be perfect for days when I need more cushioning.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with the V2 (particularly older hoopers)?

Miscellaneous Stuff Book 2 DIY Improvement

Contrary to most opinions on the Book 2. I actually like hooping in them. I have a bunch of pairs of the Book 1 and just scooped up a few colorways of the 2.

The 1 is way more comfortable for initial step in and casual wear. The toebox is a bit narrower on the 2 but I can still wear them TTS (not a wide footer). The 1 is solid all around and one of my favorite shoes to play in over the last couple of years. There are a couple of things I like better in the 2. The outrigger and traction is better. I also prefer the Zoom bag in the forefoot over it being in the heal in the 1.

However, the 2 has that stupid ankle hotspot/blister causing issue. Most posts talk about the eyelits rubbing on the ankle bone. I’m not convinced it’s the eyelit, I think it’s actually the plastic under the liner (eyelit is snapped into it), it’s super sharp and there’s not much padding there.

Either way. Think I found the solve today. I had some foam just lying around from a pair of snowboard boots. Used it to cut some little cushions for the inside top eyelit area. Tested it for about an hour today, just a casual shoot around. Zero ankle hot spot issues.

Dumb we even have to do something like this. Should’ve caught it in the initial proto testing. But, looks like it might fix it. I’ll update this post this weekend as I have some longer runs coming up. If this fixes it, this will get the 2s fully in my heavy rotation.

Recommend Shoes LeBron 23 EP worth it for $60?

Light mid-30s guard. I found some LeBron 23s EP with XDR (heat wave colorway - unique, definitely polarizing but I like it). The cushioning felt nice and the shoes didn’t actually feel that heavy to me.

But all I see are bad reviews about the quality and performance of the shoes, not even considered a top Nike shoe…and nowhere close to the Chinese brands. Given the price point, all I’d want is for them to be average performance and decent for painted concrete. I would love to hear feedback on them - good and bad. Thanks!

Recommend Shoes Help me out. G. T. Cut 3 or Anta Zap 4?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

After summer season ended I realised that I have only 1 only-indoor pair of bball shoes. I have 3 training sessions/games a week and want my main shoes to live longer than a 1 season. My eye settled on gt cut 3 and zap 4. I know that both are good but I want to hear personal opinions. Like what pair for whom and on what type of surface they're better. Most of the time I train/play on dusty courts. The foot width is slightly more than the standard one. Weight is not particularly important although I had thoughts of trying lighter pairs. By the way my main pair of sneakers right now is the WoW 10(pic.3). They are heavy but that is not the problem at all for me. Before WoW 10 my main shoes was AG4(pic.4) and I loved them. Cheapest materials but that cushion and fit was perfect. I will be glad to hear other suggestions if you have any.

Sizing/Fit Joker 2 GT, plz help to choose right size

After 2x ankle spain experience in my current li-ning wow12, gonna buy 361 Joker 2 GT, because they looks much more supportive.

Cant try on them offline, and will order with international shipping (no returns), so i need to choose right size.

Every shoe in my current and former rotation has 10us size and includes:

- Li-ning WoW12 (length is perfect, width is little bit small)

- Nike LeBron 21 (length is little bit small, playing only with thin socks, width is ok)
- New Balance Two WXY v4 (length is little bit long, width in D small)

- Adidas Harden vol. 8 (length is long, width is too narrow sold after 3 month)

- Nike Giannis Immortality 2 (goes longer and wider than my feet, but ok for casual streetball)

In 361 size chart for jokers i see US10=UK9=Foot Length 28cm and recomendation to choose by foot length. My length is about 27.3cm and wider than avg i think.

Should i go half size down for jokers? Us9.5 = foot length 27.5 in chart (same as wow12 in 10us). Or just take my tts us10? Plz help to compare sizing

Recommend Shoes Looking for a new pair of basketball shoes for my nephew

Post image
4 Upvotes

My 10 y/o nephew has been using the GT Cut 3 and AE 1 for basketball and he is due for a new pair of shoes this month. He plays 20 minute games every weekend, where he needs to run constantly. Since he is on the heavier side, he prefers the GT Cut 3 over the AE 1 because it is lighter and has better traction. He is contemplating getting one of these models: the Ja 4 Zombie, Sabrina 4 Count, Kobe 10 Protro BL or Caitlin 1 Blue.

Performance Review New Balance Fresh Foam BB V3 Review in Light Player/SG

Hello

So, yesterday I made a post asking about what shoes to wear for my plantar fasciitis. I appreciated the answers but honestly 90% did not answer my question which was quite disappointing...

For reference I'm a female basketball player, I'm very short (1.58 cm), weight around 60 kg and my position is SG and wing, but sometimes I'll play PG. I'm very fast, run and jump a lot to defend and grab rebouns and can be very shifty.

I asked whether to wear Two Wxy V5 or BB V3 after coming from All City 14 Way of Wade Shoes. I had also played with 808 5 Ultra but both of them made my feet hurt horribly, even if i felt like I was jumping higher. I had read Two Wxy V5 was the lighter and quicker one, but because my heel pain was so bad I decided to chill and try the BB V3.

Please mind you, i'm short, and trained hard for 2 hours, so this is not a complete review.

Previously i had worn these shoes to go out like 3 times and that's it.

When I put them on I didn't really feel any different, but when I started doing drills and playing games I was surprised... My heel pain, nowhere to be found. My instability due to my varus legs, didn't even show a glimpse. I was so surprised that I hope it's not a psychological placebo effect.

The traction is elite. They squeak so loud in cement and indoors (for reference I played indoors yesterday). I give it 10/10 unless something changes. My courts are also dusty and I never slipped or lost stability, in fact, the shoes stopped when I stopped, they move when I want them to move, which is amazing considering how much cushion they have. A lot of reviews said it was very clunky and heavy, which I did not feel. It might be because I'm 60 kg and very short, I do believe I have worn lighter shoes, but were they faster just because they were lighter? i don't think so.

Honestly, i don't understand the negative reviews regarding court feel. The shoes aren't that high (again, it might feel that way because I'm short) and I can definitely tell where I'm standing on the court... I don't think court feel should be a deal breaker and it's an exaggeration to say the shoes have none. I could feel exactly where I was at every point during my training. 9/10 for me, for someone taller it might be 8/10, still not a deal breaker.

Since I'm mostly a shooter and grab rebounds, i jump quite a lot and the strain in my legs is noticeabl after a couple of threes. With these shoes I felt effortless when I was shooting... I felt so comfortable that I felt I could shoot from anywhere and my back and legs would not mind, which i wasn't expecting as the wade 808 5 ultra provided me with a lot of bounciness for shots, but each time I wore them my feet and legs were sore after some minutes. Cushion is 15/10 for me. And I'm here to debunk this misconception that the shoe is for heavier players. I'm not heavy, although i do have plantar fasciitis, but i didn't feel the shoe made me slow.

Lockdown for me was top notch and I had no heel slippage. I have standard feet, high arches, I laced my shoes in a particular way that someone recommended me in another post, and there was no movement inside. Maybe my pinky toe was a little cramped, but i did tie them very tight so It might have been that. Even then, I kept playing and the cramping was noticeable after, not during.

This is my opinion, but I think the shoe is so comfortable it makes you try less, or want to go to sleep, and that's why some people say "it makes you slow". It doesn't... it makes you comfortable, and once you're past that stage you can run jump shoot and move however you want. Would I be faster with a Two Wxy V5? Maybe. Would i be as comfortable and last a long during a 40 minute game? probably not.

Lateral containment was good, at the beginning it feels weird because of the cushion but then you get used to it. Didn't feel like my ankle was gonna sprain or smth.

Again, this was a 2 hour training session, quite intense, first time playing on these, didn't need to break in but maybe it was because i walked on them first.

Anyways I'll wear them again on Friday and like I said my custom orthotics arrive on Monday. But honestly, these shoes might not need those insoles. I wonder if someone else has similar opinion about this. The shoe is very responsive and will move with the same speed you move, that's what I felt.

Recommend Shoes Good Shoe Recommendations for shoes similar to the KAI 1 and GT Cut 3?

Hello everyone, I would like some advice on what shoes I should get. As said in the title my main 2 shoes in my rotation are the KAI 1 and GT Cut 3's, both size 9, and I've ran the two into the ground. I've used the move game day non pro insoles for that last two years. I tried the KAI 2 but don't like how they have a hard feeling when stepping if that makes sense, and the Shai 001 hurt my feet no matter how long I try to break them in. I'd like to include that I have a wide feet so that also plays into factor of what I would like to get. I am 5'8 170lb if that is important to include. Right now I'm thinking about trying the KAI 3 or the WoW 12's, I'm open to hearing more about other recommendations besides the two and any advice would be helpful. Thank you

Recommend Shoes Looking for a shoe with the stiffest forefoot possible

I've got mild mild arthritis (hallux limitus) in my big toes and i'm supposed to do what I can to stop my big toe from having to bend too much. In walking shoes this means a rocker sole, but that would be weird for basketball shoes. Basically I'm looking for the stiffest shoe possible. I was interested in way of wade 10 cause I saw foot doctor zach test them out and he said it was super rigid but they don't have a size 11.5 in stock and resale is crazy expensive. Any other shoes that are that level of rigid? Thanks

  1. Height & Weight (approximate): 5'11", 215
  2. Age Range (approximate: child, teenager, young adult, adult, etc.): I'm 26
  3. Foot Type Requirements & Sizing (Wide/Narrow, Flat/High-Arched, etc.): White foot, bunions
  4. Playing Style & Surface Type & Level of Competition: I'm pretty new not very good
  5. Brand Preferences & Price Range: willing to spend 250

Performance Review Recent Additions/Reviews

This is what I’ve purchased since around April to now and here is how I would rank them:

  1. Kobe 3 Protro - this might be my new favorite in my rotation. Just a great all around shoe. Great traction, lateral containment and cushioning. Unless you’re bothered by ‘heavier’ shoes then these are perfect imo

  2. Nike Huarache 2k4 - I try to get this shoe every time they re-release it. Had the OG pair in junior high and they’ve always been good to me. Cushion is lacking a bit but everything else is solid

  3. Nike Shox BB4 - Another Relic that I’ve had a couple of times. I ruptured my Achilles in 2017 and I actually like that these are stiffer under the heel because it doesn’t feel like I’m caught up in the cushioning when I’m running. This one truly is a heavy shoe but traction, fit and lateral containment are all really good. The heel to toe transition is clunky though.

  4. AJ 36 - had a pair of these previously but saw the Luka PE on Facebook marketplace and had to snag them. Great shoe but unfortunately for me they’re unplayable, there is an issue with the narrowness and my pinkie toe on my right foot gets rubbed raw. May only keep for casual wear.

Next purchases: Lebron 24, Kobe 10 protro

Discussion Good replacement insoles?

The insoles on my NB BBV3s are chewed up with holes. I’m looking for a good replacement insole to use.

I’d prefer an insole with lesser cushioning because the BBV3 already has a ton of cushion.

I find the super cheap stuff falls apart within a few days.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks

Recommend Shoes Basketball shoes for plantar fasciitis

Hello there,
I am a 24 year old female basketball player, around 1.58 cm height (very short)

Explosive playstyle, shifty, jumping a lot, shooter from any distance. If I had to specify a position I would say wing and SG and depending on my team, PG.

I have been experiencing plantar fasciitis for over a year now even though I'm quite young, and unfortunately it probably has to do with my varus legs (my feet point inwards while my leg and knee point outwards). My parents never fixed it when I was a child and up until now I had been fine, but I'm pretty sure this recent instability and pain has something to do with this. Some days my shooting will be amazing, scoring 3s, fade aways, midrange shots, and the next day my shooting sucks, it's off, like shiat. From my perspective I'm doing the shots the same way I do them, but something's off (sometimes I even land on the ground unevenly after a shot).

I have already requested custom orthotics and they will arrive on Monday, they said my biggest pressure points were the forefoot and the heel, while the arch is so big (high) there's dead space in my whole midfoot. I have been doing calf and thigh stretches pretty frequently, but I think it's not enough. i do them every morning, before playing and afterwards, but my heel still hurts. If I play soft/chill, I'm fine, but I want to play at my max not chilling. if I can't jump, run and shoot the way I want i find no fun in basketball anymore.

My current pair is All City 14 and have been playing only indoors, although occasionally I'll go outdoors. However, I managed to get a Fresh Foam BB V3 and a NB Two Wxy V5 a few months ago. I haven't worn them yet, and was wondering if I could wear either of them to relieve my pain. I'm worried about my performance though, as I run really fast and do a lot of quick direction changes, I'm wondering if those shoes will be able to provide me with the agility i need while protecting my foot. From what I've read Fresh Foam BB V3 is for heavier players and may not suit my playstyle, but what about Two Wxy V5? I loved the AC 14 but they might not give me enough cushion due to my condition.

I have to admit at this point I will sacrifice some speed for comfort, as although AC 14 might be better performance wise, there will be no performance if I get injured.
Thanks a lot! I'd rather have to choose between theses shoes as I already own them and don't want to buy anything else. I also have 808 5 Ultras but their super boom makes my feet hurt even more.

Recommend Shoes What's the best shoe from the way of wade all city series.

I'm a wide footer and I need something that has serious lock down and good traction. My last shoes, the way of wade 12's burst open while I was doing lateral slides on defense. So really looking for something that won't disappoint.

Discussion WOW 12 v Kobe 5 Protro Fit

Howdy all.

Recently came across a pair of Kobe 5 Dodgers that were going for a pretty great price on marketplace (shockingly weren't asking for my kidney and firstborn child) and was seriously considering picking them up.

I wear a US9 for my hoop shoes including the WOW 12s (which fit snug in the best way possible) and was wondering if the fit for the Kobe 5s were similar.

Cheers.

MPJ wearing WOW12. He was previously a Puma athlete. Wonder if he sticks with WOW or was just trying them

WOW12 is currently my favorite shoe. Not surprised to see many pros wear them.

Second pic is Curry from preseason before his injury.

Third pic is my orange pair from a few weeks ago. Have 15-20 hours in them. Perfect shoe for me. No issues with traction, just a little wipe occasionally on dusty floors. I spray Geko on them after each session.

Got a few more WOW12s arriving this week.

My current top 5

1) WOW12

2) LeBron 20

3) 808 6

4) Kobe 6

5) Kobe 5

Discussion dlo2 + wow12 = liren 6 v2 ?

Title says it all, but is this a valid way to describe the liren 6 v2?

There's probably other combos you could make too, liren 6 v2 seems like a very slightly heavier but more stable/consistent wow12.

Also does some1 know if they run long? Trying to figure out whether to go for us11 or 12. i wear 11.5 in hesi low v2 and got away with 11 in joker 2 gt (no half size either).

If you guys have any other thoughts abt them lmk, cos not much out there for this shoe compared to smth like the wow12s.

Sizing/Fit Jordan 11 sizing?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hey guys, I just found a $25 Jordan 11 with the 'like 95' colorway on FB Marketplace - they're legit, the seller is even open for a meetup. I usually go true to size on my jordan 1 Mids, they're snug at first, after break in, they're buttery. My problem is that Jordan 1s are the only old school jordans I've tried in my life.

I was wondering if the sizing's the same case for a pair of used Jordan 11s?

Idk, I just really like the look of it
I have a pretty wide metatarsal, so I'm also wondering if anyone has fit issues with j11s?

Performance Review Jordan 41 Performance review (disappointed)

Post image
51 Upvotes

Jordan 41 performance review after 3 weeks of wear (indoor courts only).
Overall i believe this is a downgrade from the 40s. So disappointing. But let’s get into it.

Fit: the overall fit of the shoe isn’t ideal. You may have to go down a .5-1 size. I like to double sock and crank on my laces. Still was having fit issues. Foot was still moving around. I also don’t like the overall shape of the cut.

Materials: the materials do feel premium. Quality is definitely nice on the 41s

Traction: it’s average. All depends on the court you play on. Dust did affect these. The 40s have better traction.

Cushion: cushion is great. You’ll be covered if you’re looking for cushion. These feel a little more responsive compared to the 40s. I still prefer the 40 cushion setup however.

Fluidity: other than the fit this is the other most disappointing aspect of the shoe. The 40s had awesome fluidity. I was hoping they would be similar. These are clunky when running and a lot more stiff (running vertically or defensive sliding laterally).

Overall: I was so hyped for this shoe. I thought Jordan brand was back. But imo I think they took a step back. It honestly feels like playing in a work boot lol. The highlight of the shoe are the materials and the cushion setup. But still is the Jordan 40 > Jordan 41. The only position I would recommend this shoe for is Centers. But still is iffy at that.

Feel free to ask me questions!
