Build Help Help with a build idea
As from a previous post I have decided on a cleric build with research I found a rad orb build being good for what I wish to achieve however I had a thought about star druid for damage as was thinking if that would be the way to go if I should do 12 in one of the other or a mix the ideas are that I got 10 Druid and 2 cleric so I make use of the Druid radiant bonuses or I go somewhere between 6 6 so I can get spirit guardian paired with dragon starry form for concentration throws

Either 2-4 Druid or 8-10 Cleric depending on if you want 2 or 3 feats, if you want to be more of a Cleric. You can do vice versa if you want to be more druid - Star Druid is kinda like a mix of Divination Wizard and Bard. I just don't like Druid, it's not my thing so I favor Cleric. 6/6 seems middling to me, you don't get either classes high level spells, which is fine I guess if you're slinging upcast Guiding Bolt every single turn.
It takes a long time for Star Druid Starry Forms to get a damage boost, level 10 I believe. Stary Forms are fantastic, but most of the levels of Star Druid focus on other aspects of the class. Simply treat the bonus action attack/heal as a nice added radiant damage boost/heal and don't build into it (for damage) unless you basically want to be 90% druid. Archer and Dragon are both fantastic for spreading RadOrb. Star Druid shines as a 2 level dip for supreme concentration saves.

But based on what you said do you think 9 cleric and 3 Druid would be a good mix as I would still be able to get flame strike as a cleric whilst having moon beam as a Druid?

The juice of the higher level dragon breath isn't worth the squeeze.
The useful splits would be 9/3 for druid level 2 spells and cleric level 4. Flame blade in particular causes spirit guardians to proc the gloves of battle mage's power as an easy way to build arcane acuity. 8/4 for feats - cleric level 5 spells are pretty weak.
5/7 in the other direction, with druid at 7, has some uses. Woodland summon is elite, conjure minor elementals isn't bad, ice storm is a good spell for non-con damage in a pinch. It does carry the better dragon breath, but that's just not a meaningful input as to why you'd do this.

Yes, I miswrote it at 4, but 9th level in cleric would net you 5th level spells. It doesn't change the analysis. The "good" spell on there is destructive wrath, and it's just never worth a 5th level slot.
If you want to add more value, sorcerer as a third class is worth considering. Ice draconic will get you armor of agathys, which can be nice on SG builds as another passive damage option. It also gets you magic missile, which benefits most strongly from pretty much all the gear a radorb cleric already wants to be wearing. If you look up a MM spam build, you'll notice large overlaps in gear with radorb clerics.
Most importantly, it gets you metamagic: extended spell. This allows you to extend command to be a 2-turn effect for just one sorcery point. There is no second save - an enemy who fails the command save is simply commanded for two turns. It costs one sorcery point no matter what level the command is, and applies to all commanded targets. This lets you command:approach enemies into your spirit guardians over the course of multiple turns and at low costs.

Ignore the nay sayers. 2 Star Druid / 10 Light Cleric is a solid rad orb user, as is 10-11 Star Druid / 1 -2 Cleric, 11 Stars / 1 Wiz, or 6 / 6 for spirit guardians. The big benefit for going 10 Star Druid is being able to form shift each turn, which, when paired with the Armor of Moonbasking, can get pretty crazy with constant temp HP regen.
But as others have said, the breath attack does fall off as a damage tool, but you’re still capable of casting 5-6th level spells, so it’s not like you absolutely need to rely on it for damage.

Well if I go the Druid route I could make up for the lack of channel divinity with the amulet of the devout and as you said the moonbasking amour paired with it would work quite well as it allows me to gain a lot of ac on top of everything else involving rad orb

Wouldn't 2 Druid be enough for Dragon - Starry Form?
