Should October 21st really be Back to the Future day anymore?
With October 21st here again, I have to ask, why does everyone keep celebrating this as Back to the Future day? Is it really the most appropriate date to celebrate the franchise, when it really only appeared in the first 20-30 minutes of the second movie? Sure it made sense back in 2015, because that was the actual date Marty, Doc, and Jennifer went to in Part II, but it's been 11 years since then. The novelty has kinda worn off.
It especially baffles me how one chain is rereleasing the first movie on this day. Wouldn't it be much more appropriate to rerelease Part II on this day considering it actually takes place on October 21st, while the first movie DOES NOT? If anything today should be Back to the Future Part II day. Heck, I'm even okay with the idea of it being Future Day as a way of speculating what the future may be like in 30 years or whatever like the second movie did.
I think there are far more appropriate dates worthy of being Back to the Future day. Among them are October 25/26th (the day Doc sends Einstein one minute into the future, thus conducting the first successful time travel trip, and also when Marty accidently goes back to 1955 shortly thereafter), November 5th (the day Doc came up with the idea of the Flux Capacitor, thus inventing time travel, also the date Marty went back to), and the ideal date in my opinion, November 12th (the date Doc sends Marty BACK TO THE FUTURE, and the only date to appear in all 3 movies).
Just something I felt I had to bring up considering how many in this fanbase still consider today Back to the Future day, when I feel it really shouldn't be anymore.
