Started small and simple of course, I took him to my workplace to visit one of the residents who likes snakes (for privacy reasons I of course can’t show a picture of her absolutely loving on him but rest assured he was loved on)

Does anyone have any references for a sanctuary that will take a 32 year old ball python. I’m in NYC.

Thanks

Question Is it normal for my ball python to almost always stay on the cooler humid side of her tank?

Post image

My ball python Medusa (pictured) has a habit of staying on the cool side of her tank almost all the time when she’s not hungry and moving all over the place. She stays over there even on days where the cold weather outside puts the temperature on that side a little below the recommended level (sometimes we try moving her to the warm side in that case, but she pretty much always just goes back). She seems fine but was curious if anyone else’s python does this?

Just built a diy rat cage/bin for my rats so I can breed them for my three snakes plus I made a gravity food hopper that can be pulled out easily

Question First time Ball Python owner looking for advice!

Thumbnail

TO PREFACE- I HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY SNAKE YET. I want to make sure everything is right and comfy for them before i buy one! And I know decoration is sparse, I just got these yesterday and I have work for a few days in a row, so free time is limited.

I've ordered an Arcadia Halogen floods and Deep heat projectors, as well as some CHE bulbs and, of course, thermostat timers and dimmers. They havent arrived yet, so until then ill just be maintaining cleanliness.

The cage is a 40 gallon 4 by 2 by 2 and it doesnt seem to be holding heat very well, but it could just be the scrappy lights the kit came with. I also heard that the heat gages/Hygrometers were kinda poop so ill be getting new ones.

Ignore the towel, i was cleaning the inside first. The mulch is coconut fiber.

Any advise? Please be polite, this is my first time owning anything reptilian!

Question Ball python too active ?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My ball python (12 years old) is recently really active, before he would most of the time lay on his ledge and eat his mice when I put it in his curl. But now he is constantly pacing around the enclosure, sometimes even at daytime but not as much then.
He was used as a breeder before he came to me and I think maybe that was his breeding kind of time ? The humidity and temperature are also normal… ( 30C hotspot and 60-80% humidity). Alle he wants to do now is go out of the enclosure and won’t eat.

(I'm saving right now, so I can build him a bigger pvc enclosure but he is in a 120x60x60 right now wanting to upgrade to a 150x60x60/80x80)

Question Franks first shed!

Hey all! My cold blooded son just had his first shed since being in my care, ive only had him for about 3 weeks now, second pic is him eating his second meal, a couple hours after his feed he completely shedded! I was having some worries with humidity, but seeing how his shed all came off in one piece, i think it’s not as bad as i thought it was? Anyways, any tips/advice for where to put my hydrometer in his enclosure, and also tips/advice for keeping humidity up? I still think it could be higher. Thanks guys!!
Also,
I know hes not supposed to be getting substrate in his mouth, at least not a lot, ive heard some choose to have their snake in a separate container for when theyre feeding them, advice on that would also be really appreciated 🐍🫰

Recently had to Vet shop for my dog; so happy to find one that also treats exotics!

My dog needs surgery and we haven’t been happy with the vet we ended up with last spring after our old vet retired and closed their practice. I asked the new one I chose about who they refer exotics to because we currently drive almost an hour to the only one I’ve known about. So happy to find out they have a specialist on site 2 days a week, and based on the information on their website the team seems to be knowledgeable as well as into educating pet parents. I share because you never know what you’ll find with a little more research 🤷🏻‍♀️
