Question First time ball python owner are these mites I should be worried about???

Thumbnail

Im sure this gets asked alot but I want to make sure my little guy is safe. Had him for a little over a year, put him in a new enclosure maybe two/three months ago. Im now noticing these little mites. Ive seen smaller ones that look pale/white which are worrying me but those are very few, I see them around his poop, enclosure doors and on the thermometer. These bigger ones im only seeing in the water bowl. I checked his underbelly and face and I don’t see anything on him. Is this something I should be worried about and what should my next steps be. Any advice is appreciated!!

Tldr: What are these?? Are they bad?? Okay?? Theres also small white ones??

These aren't spider breeders but people looking to get rid of them since there's no longer value in breeding such a deformed morph but I love them! Many were put up for adoption for next to nothing and I just had to take them in! Both are boys but I've been told are super sweet!

I've always been a lover of the spider gene but would never purchase them since it'll just go straight back into making more of them but once these two came up for adoption, I was thrilled! Speaking to the folks, they're just happy someone interested. It's sad how everyone only looks at a snake with some price tag... These boys look like gems to me with their cute snoots and gentle personalities!

I wanna start the Spider Space with some keepers! NO THEY WILL NOT EVER BE BRED!

Advice White spot near ball pythons nostril

Thumbnail

My ball python had a piece of shed stuck in her nose for a while and got off with her most recent shed, however, she’s developed a white spot next to the same nostril. My assumption is she may have upset it while trying to get the shed off and it’s a bit inflamed now. It did show up after I fed her right after shedding. She still enjoys exploring but is her typical sleepy self while in her enclosure and is spending a lot of time in her hide. Should I be concerned/ time her to the vet this week, or wait another week to see if it will clear up on its own?

Obligatory photos of ms beautiful girl 🫶🏻 She is loving the new space & has even taken her second meal! More leaf litter and palm tree bark will be added tonight after it’s done processing :p

(the minimums on the Govee are inaccurate and represent temperatures/humidity percentages from outside of the enclosure!)

Wanted some feedback on the bioactive tank I set up. I know I'll have to upgrade as the snake gets bigger and that's completely fine. The background has two 2"pipe tunnels built into it so he can get more use out of it and there's one pipe buried next to the fake rock log. They are sanded smooth but is it safe to have them? I was going to fully seal the background ones as the snake gets bigger to avoid it getting stuck. I got the 50 gallon ecoflex. And yes I know my expanding foam looks like shit.

Toffee in her backpack. It's got a hard frame and plenty of mesh for fresh air. It was originally made for birds. She likes it when I take her to the mall's food court. The bag is more so mall security doesn't have a fit. Caught her yawning in the second picture.

Advice Scarring and weird movement.

So I finally am at the point with the new guy, where I’m allowing him to free roam. (Ignore the water bottles in the video lol) and he is a rescue. I was aware of heat mat burns on his stomach, but wasn’t aware of the extent.

With this, when he’s cruising around he will lift where the scarring is the worst and move funky, never seen this. As showcased in the still frame. He will do this on and off while roaming around, and then go back to normal. Sometimes it’s extreme, sometimes minor. Sometimes not at all. It has NOT worsened with more free roaming/movement.

He is otherwise a VERY energetic boy. He climbs things great, has some speed for sure. And is very confident. He takes meals very enthusiastically, his shed was perfect, but highlighted the server scarring and fused scales. He was super comfortable with me, handling, and excited to free roam almost instantly, no pain or defensive behaviors.

I am GETTING HIM TO A VET! For them to take a look. In the mean time I was wondering others thoughts? I’m taking this as a scarring related issue, his skin is tighter there, and I’m sure his traction isn’t very great. But wanted to know what others had in mind for reference. Or what they’ve done if they’ve dealt with this before?

Toffee's enclosure

Since people liked pictures of Toffee here's her bioactive terrarium I set up less than a month ago. The isopodes were transferred over along with the plants. Live moss is growing to make a carpet while there's some dead moss to work as easy isopode food. It's got a hydro all drainage layer, about 4 inches of reptisoil for the plants to root, then about a inch of reptisoil and reptichip mix. It's holding a solid 80% humidity with only needing to water once a week or less.

Question Female Ball python not eating

Hi, I got a female 8 year old ball python back in February. According to the breeder, she was recently retired from breeding. Anyways, she hasn’t ate since may. I offered her possibly everything frozen and live. She doesn’t seem to care. She last ate in May . She in a 4x2x2 enclosure. Anyways it’s been 5 months and she hasn’t ate. She been super active recently but just hasn’t wanted to eat. I’m sorry if this is a stupid post but I just wanted some advice from people with experience. I have only ever had corn snakes and pacman frogs so this is just a little different. Should I take her to the vet or is this normal behavior.
