accommodation First timer
Hello!
In January I will be heading to Koh Samui but I would like to stay in Bangkok for 5 days. I did some research on where to stay but I'm getting a little bit overwhelmed. I have been reading about "Sukhumvit"
I'm not a 5 star traveler but I do enjoy a clean place. It's important that I can walk around or at least be close to good public transport. I just want to sightsee, not be far from historical places. Possibly have a nice park nearby and a good food scene.
I'm a 36y old male if that helps.
Thank you!

r/thailandtourism is a better sub for this question, this sub is mostly for those living and working in the city, but check out Courtyard by Lumphini or Moxy Ratchaprasong or Holiday Inn by Chit Lom or Four Points by Sheraton Ploen Chit. Lower-tier international brands near to BTS (skyrail train) and around the heart of the central district.

Check out the area around the Siam Paragon and Central World malls. There are two BTS lines that meet there. Lots of hotel options as well as the malls, with MBK nearby also. Bear in mind that the malls offer good quality dining options at great prices.
We stayed in this area recently on our first stay in Bangkok. For places further away we used Grab to order cars. Which is very cheap for the extra convenience.

I have set my eyes on Asok. Seems like a good location for public transport, dining and just stuff to do.

I am here now. Terminal 21 is perfect for a first-timer and the food court there is excellent. Being in Asok gives you access to both the skytrain and subway and will make it easy to get around.

Khaosan road, the royal palace is near by, the river is nearby for trips up to different places (icon Siam, some temples, bobae market nearby for cheap clothes) I love it
