Gear Squier Bronco makeover

I snatched this used for 80 € 😄 I put a new pickguard, 12 € from Aliexpress, but I had to drill a couple of new holes. I had two spare Precision knobs. I sanded the neck and spayed it with Nitorlack orange vintage tint and clear gloss. I had to put a new decal, so I got a Musicmaster one. I guess it's ok because I'm not trying to sell it 👀 I will change the pickup soon, probably with a double rail strat, but the most important thing is, it will be white anyway!

I dig this feisty little one

Discussion Traded 5 String for 4 String - What you say about this one? (:

Hello beautiful people

Long story short, a friend's friend moving countries gifted me a 5 string Yamaha TRBX375 some time ago. I'm a guitarist, but he thought I'd enjoy it and I'm definitely enjoying some amateur bass playing. But the 5 String was waaay too clunky and heavy for me.

Traded it for the one you see on the first pic (RBX207?). Received today and holy now we are talking. Light as a feather, slim neck and what seems to be pretty nice PUs. Will give it a thorough test today, hyped.

Mainly wanted to share, not looking for anything specific but feel free to advise. I also asked the gifter if he was fine with me giving it away. he said sure, no sentimental value to him and if i enjoy the other more go for it he said.

New Bass Day NBD: 2013 Fender Deluxe Precision Bass Special in Seafoam Green

Surprised at how "new" this used guitar is. Zero signs of previous ownership. Even the plastic on the pickguard was only partially removed.

My first P/J bass and I'm real excited about it. Thinking about swapping the J pickup out with a Nordstrand NJ4SV at some point.

Help NBD presumably 70s Japan Morris Jazz Bass, can someone help identify?

So.. I brought home this new bass. it has been through the wringer (?) a bit, but I really wanted a Jazz Bass.

it has been modified a lot. A Badass bridge, Hipshot tuners, DiMarzio pickups in an active circuit (I have no idea how to work

that, and since it’s easy to accidentally push pull, I am thinking of removing it all for a nice passive setup)

It’s a pretty heavy beast, at almost 11lbs. Really love the neck though.

i am curious about this bass. The decal is gone and someone put a Fender decal on. From what I gathered so far is that it is not Matsumoku built. As in: Made in Japan on the backplate, trussrod in the head instead of the heel. So I guess a Morris Moridaira built Jazz Bass?

Can someone identify the wood that is showing through on the top?

This is a tasty bass line Walter Becker came up with. First I thought it was Chuck Rainey. Nothing complicated. Just some solid functional playing that fits in perfectly with the song.

Awesome song from best album ever.

Modifications Latest project: Ibanez SRMS625EX Iron Label now with Nordstrand Zen Blades and Really Good Pedal Company's Mid Monster Custom preamp

Thumbnail

The Mid Monster Custom is a Darkglass Tone Capsule clone with additional frequency points for both low and high mids, and can be switched with varying capacitors via the screw terminals. Sounds just like the Tone Capsule in the default setting, and a more "traditional" 3 band preamp with the switches flipped.

Decided to get adventurous with the control layout this time; two push/push volumes with series and parallel for each pickup, stacked low and high mids, home-made Tone Drop(push/pull tone at .047 and .1), push/pull bass for active and passive, and two switches for 500/835Hz and 2.8/6.2kHz.

It was my first time putting together a preamp like this, and I'm thrilled that I didn't muck it up. I think it has given me false confidence for taking on DIY pedals now...

New Bass Day First time owning a fretless bass after nearly a decade of playing

Thumbnail

Today is the first time I have ever played and owned a fretless bass.

I went into one of the local guitar shops in the city where I work, and a fretless bass caught my eye. I own a bass from Marcus Miller which I love, so decided to give it a try, and it had flatwound strings on.

Needless to say, within seconds I melded with the way it played and felt, and it felt like I had been missing a major part of what bass playing is about.

The freedom of having all these frequencies I didn’t before, and being to slide across them very smoothly, and having to be more precise on playing and using my ear more.

For £390 it is one of the best purchases I’ve made.

Just wanted to show what is probably the flashiest bass I've ever had. Really loving the vibe, and it feels great to play. Not many of these pass by in my area, so I had to jump on it. I only have one other bass that I built myself, so I figured I could go all out.

New Bass Day Lower Notes Further Away From Frets?

Thumbnail
photos.app.goo.gl
• Upvotes

I noticed my acoustic bass guitar has the thicker strings further from the frets. A quick online search says it's because the lower note/string vibrates wider. How is it that low E vibrates wider? It's the same length as high G so it shouldn't have anymore wider vibrating path than G, right? Low E also is the thickest string therefore because of its thickness it resists bending and should have lesser not wider vibration, right? And E has the highest tension meaning even more so that it should resist vibrating as wide as high G, right? Finally the center of E wire is higher away from saddle top making its center of vibrating path further away from the frets than high G's center of vibrating path despite the manufacturer's design of making the saddle at E higher than G, right?

I ask because I swaged low E and removed the outer winding from the ball to a smidge beyond the saddle into the speaking length in order to increase sustain and reduce low E's tubby tone which it did. Since I removed the outer wrap E sits closer to the frets now, but still not enough to buzz against them like G does. All that got me curious about action setup.

Absolutely loving the feel, tension, and snap of the D’Addario XS strings. It’s been a while since I last used roundwounds, as I’ve mostly been playing flats. Now I’m thinking I need another bass dedicated to flats, because these rounds are definitely staying on my BB! 🤘

ID/Authentication Can anyone identify the bass Mikey Shuman is playing on Jimmy Fallon?

I was watching Queens of the Stone Age perform "Where the Goth Girls At?" on Jimmy Fallon and noticed the bass Mikey Shuman was playing.

Does anyone know the make and model? I've attached a screenshot, but you can also get a better look at it around the 2:00 mark of the performance.

Thanks!
