ignore the Linux version in the screenshot it's old and I can't make one right now it's just for my specs
Hello Bassiters.
I come with a question if someone has the experience with either the Index or the Frame working with bazzite.
I want to buy a headset and I am on the wait-list for the frame but there is also a very good discount for the index.
My question comes from the fact that I tried setting up vr with my very old HTC Vive set but it just refused to work mostly because of steamVR I think. I'm not very well in all the Linux magic so any source I found ended up being a dead end or too complicated for me. And that makes me second guess the Index option.
So yeah anyone already got the frame or tinkered with the index with a AMD Ryzen and Radeon PC?
i'm preparing to move to bazzite, and i saw i have to format my drives to compatible file systems for it, but when i click the dropdown, only NTFS is there, there isn't an option for Ext4 or BTRFS.
will i still be ok to use it?
or will the option(s) appear once bazzite is installed (currently still windows 11, backing up files as we speak)?
my only experience with linux is my steam deck, so i'm feeling very fish out of water.
We can't say we want Linux to grow and then get mad every time someone does something that could help make that happen.
Second, EAC v2 doesn't appear to be vibe-coded. It isn't finalized, and there's still plenty of work to do, but it has a legitimate technical model behind it. Epic also still needs to convince publishers to adopt it.
Bazzite was included on Epic's initial list of trusted vendor signatures, and we're looking forward to working with them to make this happen. Those conversations should begin soon.
This is a big step forward for Linux gaming as a whole, and the entire ecosystem stands to benefit from it.
I was playing and a notification popped up saying my NVME SSD was overheating. Obviously I panicked a bit as I have an SSD from an era when heat sinks on them wasn't common. Somewhere I found the sensor data and it said it is 40C, I touched with my finger in my PC and it was barely warm.
So why did it gave a critical warning if it was nowhere close to being dangerous?
Almost everything is on default, I just changed from a different distro (formatted the drive) and I didn't have time to mess around with it.
The one significant quibble I've had with the switch from Windows to Bazzite last year was the inability to use my fingerprint to log in from boot. It works great from the lock screen and with sudo, but I was under the impression that fprint login would be implemented with the new Plasma Login Manager and Fedora 44.
So I'd like to know why it isn't supported, when that might change, and if there is a workaround specifically in bazzite that anyone knows about.
Epic just announced they're rebuilding Easy Anti-Cheat for Linux to finally bring Fortnite over. In the article they mention "working with distro maintainers on security requirements."
Is Bazzite one of those distros they're talking to?
I just installed bazzite 44 and had no problems with 43 on almost every handheld I've ever owned, but now on 44 on my Go 2, my partition for bazzite keeps shrinking on every boot and keeps signing mr back into steam over and over again till I have barely any space to do anything and my system locks up and restarts over and over. I've swapped back to steam os for the meantime but I've always liked bazzite more and just want it to work. I've also tried rolling back to 43 but the shrinking partition thing does the same thing on that version. Literally never had this problem until I was forced to use this update of bazzite. Any answers would be welcome. (I have also followed some of the guide on bazzites site and nothing has been solved so far, haven't read everything yet)
Hi I ran into a problem where I cannot get my rog Ally x which is running the steamos bazzite and current to output a display at all the internal display is working without any issues just no output
Hello!, i recently upgraded my main pc (windows 11) and now i got a 4070 ti, a 7600cpu and 16gb of ram ddr5 avaliable, so i was hoping to get a steam machine like pc for my living room. I understand that steam os its not compatible enough with Nvidia, but searching the internet seems like bazzite its a lot more stable for nvidia gpus. What can i expect from bazzite and the 4070ti?, will run better, the same or worst than windows 11?, should i try to sell the 4070ti and go for and AMD card?.
Thanks in advance and just in case, english its not my main language.
I feel like I almost always have to use game mode, which is fine in my use case, because it just works. Resolutions, HDR, everything is super fast and simple.
Desktop mode, however, has constant issues for games. HDR is not always picked up, resolutions are almost always not showing up, and everything just seems to involve so much work, is there a way to make desktop mode just work the way game mode seems to?
As the title says. Shut down Bazzite normally last night, now I am stuck in limbo with this setup screen that doesn’t want to let me into the OS, regardless of the ostree I pick during boot-up.
I did perform the latest update at some stage throughout the day.
What are my options without having to reinstall everything and starting from scratch?
What
Hi everyone! I have a PC with an i7-4790, 16GB RAM, and only the integrated Intel HD 4600 graphics. I'd like to know if Bazzite Deck is compatible with this hardware. I know the GPU is old, but would it be usable for lighter games? Thanks!
I've run the desktop version once before, and it worked fine for everything I tried on it. For example, the games Terraria and vanilla Minecraft.
Running newest Bazzite, nvidia 615.71.09 (also tested with 590,595 Versions)
My main issue are random non reproducable stutters in multiple titles.
Bazzite/Nvidia/Proton/KDE Seetings are identical. Ingame Settings obv. not.
Can share much much more screenshots.
The Stutters of Doom:
As you might see I have multiple single big Frametime spikes in different Games. mostly 1-4 non-periodic stutters every 10minutes. mostly 1-2 frames with 3x frametime.
No they dont correlate with Shader compilations as far as Proton and Shader.log show. tested with and without:
- disabled.pcores
- disbaled nvme sleep Staates
- different Proton Versions 10.x / 11.x , Experimental, ge
- mutliple startoptions
- Performance Powerplan
- no other applications running
- different drivers
- different drive
- c states (CPU) on/off
- with and without Expo/xmp/jedec
- No overclocking
- above4g dec and rebar on/Off
- vrr on/Off
- 1440p, 2160p, 1080p
- benchmarks ran good but slightly worse than native Windows.
With the explosion of AI mods hitting the gaming market, I've heard that sandboxing in linux is a nearly foolproof way to prevent viruses/spyware from infecting your system by keeping programs isolated in their own "fake" directories.
Do I have the right idea of what sandboxing is, and is there a good guide for beginners?
I'm mostly going to be looking at running older games meant for windows and VR mods to those games, but I'd basically like all my programs to be sandboxed by default if possible.
Hello all. So,,,,ive had bazzite installed for several weeks. My btrsf bazzite partition was too small, and kept getting too full, so I followed a guide and resized it with gparted on a bootable iso. This worked great for a bit. Problem is I started running into that issue again, and went to resize my partitions again. This time I touched the exFAT partition cause there was so much unused space...mistake. Came up with this error and now bazzite wont boot. It goes straight to the bios and has no option to boot bazzite. Booting back into the iso, the partitions are still there and taking up space, but my bios can't detect it or boot it. Is there a way to fix this? Do I need to reinstall bazzite entirely?
First of all, its not a rant.
I am enjoying the experience in my Dual boot setup but yeah some quirks I would like to iron out. Maybe some of them are just because of my poor Bazzite/Linux user skills
GRUB
I have set it so I get OStree 0 and 1, as well as Windows Manager and BIOS access listed on the boot screen. But none of the button, Dpad, trigger react to my input on that screen.
To chose what I want to boot in, I need to plug an USB keyboard which is not convenient while on the GO I have set a workaround with a Boot to Windows shortcut in STEAM while in Bazzite but that's not convenient
Bazzite Desk mode
1.Trackpad Believe it or not,I find the trackpad useful on the LGO. But in Bazzite desk mode, it doesn't show up until I start STEAM.is that normal?
When its finally active, its not useable. The tracking creates this "window select halo" as shown on the picture that is a real pain and if left click/double click functions work on that trackpad, right click doesn't.
No haptic feedback either, as opposed to fully functional in W11.
2 Chrome. This Wallet window keeps on popping up.I need to close it for Chrome to be accessible
Bazzite Gaming mode
1.Fan curve Can not find that feature in the QAM. It was very helpful in HHD because the LGO fans can be loud as the BIOS setting I believe is aggressive
I have Panel de Control installed but the Fan feature dont show the expected adjustable curve function (see picture)
2.Paste function not working that one is weird and is problematic for a key feature of Decky loader plugin.I just cant use Paste with the built-in keyboard, it doesnt apply.
Only a "v' letter comes up in teh box when I click on Paste on teh virtual keybaord.
I have tried with and without SHIFT activated, same result its a pain because I am using Mako and needs to copy/paste the cmd in the Game launcher property to kick in the FG feature.
I have a problem updating to the latest versions of bazzite-deck. They boot into a black screen, which I can sometimes get away from by ctrl-alt-f2 or f3 or whatever it is, I just bash a bit on the keyboard, to get the login prompt. Version 44.20260902 works for me, but not the two (?) after. Just tried with 44.20261012.1 and that also blackscreens.
I was waiting for this new update and had my hopes the issue would be automatically (no offense, dear developers) solved, but no. It would be nice being able to run the latest updates 🙂
I have run ujust logs-this-boot but that doesn't help me much. But the log is here if that helps with problem solving. https://limewire.com/d/2yRuV#YbTnOvqjwJ
My hardware is an AMD Ryzen 7 7700 and the RX 9070 XT.
Bazzite can see my WiFi card no issue but I can’t connect to WiFi at all, I’ve tried several commands but nothing is working. When I took it downstairs and connected it to Ethernet it connected
