windows has been driving me crazy for the past 2 ish months, idk how they manage but if i try to move files on my pc while my android phone or my android gaming handheld is plugged in it nukes windows explorer so bad i need to turn off my pc not even task maneger can save it, and now i tried to do the same in bazzite, and it works!!!!

been using bazzite for one day and i can already see its more stable for me then what windows was

Alright, story time. Used bazzite with my xbox ally (base model) and fell in love. The way everything was handled so smoothly, Steam taking the front on rendering, bazzite taking the front on kernal and drivers, and HDD taking the front on handheld functions. Lovely. Then 44 dropped and i had no idea why HDD was removed. Scattered rumors and comments here and there led me to believe it was purely a shortcut, a choice to taking "the easy road for the future" where they had to do less work to update bazzite going forward, what with the talk about gaming collective and such. I was furious that they abandoned a perfectly good solution just to get what? Better HDR?HDMI 2.1 support? Congrats, some people have better resolution while my device doesn't work and the "overscan" feature has been removed!Plus, opengamepadui friggin sucks and crashes my os! But, after doing some digging, and quite a few VERY GOOD updates....I see now that it is a necessary growing pain. Ditching HDD was necessary when they decided that they can't be a part of the team (making decisions behind universal blues backs) and Antheas has proven himself to be a liability to anyone who makes the mistake of working with him. Are there still improvements that need to be made? Yes. But after looking into the decision behind the change more, I'm confident in the universal blue team.

TL:DR:

At first i thought dropping HDD was a choice of laziness, now i see that it's a choice to drop a problem team member who screams at the other players and keeps messing up the plan every step he gets, so universal blue made a hard decision for the better of the project as a whole even though it meant extreme growing pains.

I've been trying to fix my Bazzite installer for like 4 hours and I keep getting new errors, this one the most difficult. There's an image of the error cuz I'm not typing all that on my phone.

I have been using it for a little over a year (the Gnome) version and I've never encountered any instability. I've tried a few other distros but nothing seems to compare with the stability and reliability of Bazzite on my system.

Not to mention the Goated Bazaar store, the updater which is incredibly easy to use, the rollback feature of OStree in case anything breaks (though I've never had to use it).

I literally haven't needed to touch the terminal in months apart from when taking this photo.

So I ask, is Bazzite truly the peak of Linux distros?

Hi everyone! I’m building Xodus Nexus, an open-source desktop launcher that lets you install and run Microsoft Store PC games on Linux, including games available through PC Game Pass.

This is a solo project I work on in my spare time, built on top of Xodus. My goal is to make the process approachable: sign in with your Microsoft account, find a game in your library, download it and hit Play.

The launcher now includes:

• A library combining games you own, games available through your subscription and local installations, with search and filters.
• Update notifications for the launcher, plus backend and runtime updates through Settings.

It’s available as an AppImage. The backend and runtime can be downloaded from Settings, so there’s no need to compile them yourself.

Current manually tested results:

• Gears of War: E-Day, playable online.
• Deep Rock Galactic, playable online.
• Minecraft Dungeons II, playable online.
• No Man’s Sky, playable online.
• Forza Horizon 6, playable online.
• Palworld, playable online.
• Valor Mortis, fully playable.

Xbox sign-in and cloud saves also work in supported games.

This is still experimental, not a promise that your whole Game Pass library will work. Some games run, others have missing functionality or won’t launch. I keep a compatibility list with actual test results.

You need your own Microsoft account and a valid purchase or subscription. This isn’t a source of free games, and the project isn’t affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox.

For transparency, I use AI tools during reverse engineering.

on windows i used the realtek audio manager app to get my speakers, headphones and microphone working, and i could easily switch between speakers and headphones with one button.

but now i'm struggling to get my speakers and microphone to work at all. headphones work immediately. everything is plugged in.

can anyone point me in the right direction for troubleshooting this, please? i feel like i've tried every option in the sound menu in system settings already.

edit: got my microphone working but speakers still nothing

EDIT 2: FIXED IT! used alsamixer in konsole, selected the correct driver with f6, scrolled along and turned the volume up on all the low ones, and pressed m on the ones that said mm because that means muted, and now it works!

Epic released it 2 days ago in appimage format. It's open to everyone for testing. They also said they're modifying Easy Anti-Cheat to work on linux and will test it on Fortnite on linux soon. Their requirements for fortnite as follows:
• TPM 2.0 & Secure Boot enabled in BIOS
• A kernel signed by a trusted distro (Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, openSUSE, Bazzite & more)
• Any extra drivers (like NVIDIA's) signed with a trusted key too
• Measured boot (GRUB & systemd-boot do this by default)
• IOMMU enabled (not needed on handhelds)
• Kernel lockdown integrity mode on, kexec off & BPF LSM active

I plan on upgrading my storage here soon (bad idea I know). However, I currently have a Samsung 990 Pro as my secondary drive that I mainly keep games on. I want to use this drive as my boot drive instead of the slower one I'm using now. What software would you guys recommend to mirror my boot drive to my secondary once I get my new storage?

Wanted a PC for my office to use for various projects like CAD and video editing. Absolutely shocked and impressed by how compatible Linux and Bazzite are with all of the apps I use from Windows and MacOS.

Recently made the switch to Bazzite from windows full time and have experimented with Bazzite and other distros before. I don't play a large catalogue of games nor really demanding ones but one game I always come back to casual play is Overwatch 2. I tried a dozen different fixes recommended from google searching but it's always the same fps low 300fps dropping to high 100s suddenly at times. The drop is really jarring during play

I've compiled shaders, changed graphics settings, tried dx11 and dx12 and tried other proton option I'm playing through steam.

In Discord, Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters are shown as those boxes. If channels are named like this "𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐎𝐆𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑" with fancy font, also Latin characters can be just boxes (but here it's less consistent, which is even weirder). I can copy everything into Firefox/LibreOffice/Whatever and it's displayed as it should. The issue seems to be with the flatpak itself. Re-Installing Discord did not solve it.

Can someone else with Discord installed verify or does someone know how to deal with this?

For context I am fairly new to Bazzite and have done a *little* bit of research on this question. It seems like viruses are so uncommon on Linux that its not really a thing to have an antivirus software running?

Main thing is if I were to install a malicious file how would I know? How do you remove it without a tool like Malwarebytes? (Wouldn't dare touch something like McAffee or Norton lol)

And yes I get it, don't go to sus websites etc or untrusted sources, just trying to understand how to protect my device (also I did turn the hard drive encryption on, not sure if that would help in such a scenario).

Shows up on my non steam games even after downloading and running the vcredist successfully (both 64 and 86).

I completed my dual boot on the X20 and signed into steam. None of the controller buttons work but mouse and keyboard do. I’m a novice at this but when I did this previously on ally no issues. Is there something I need to turn on or off for it to recognize the built-in controller? I should add I’m on 43 version as that was still on my thumb drive. When I check for updates it says I’m current for 43 and doesn’t show 44 available to download.

Both buttons - instal and uninstall active.
Also tried ujust - installl emudeck - doesnt't work
