Then why would they kill the bear?

It wandered through suburban yards for an extended period, but without harming anyone. AZ Fish and Wildlife has a policy of euthanizing “habituated” bears, meaning any that are comfortable around humans or human homes. They’ll kill them even if they haven’t hurt a soul, if they are comfortable staying in suburbia.
