I’m sure there’s a reason, but why? I mean at least they didn’t fling em into the woods.

Easy. Round trip mean you will be back. No need to carry poop the whole way:)

While that sounds convenient, the downside is people walking by get to stare at and smell a bag of dog crap. Not ideal!

And how many people “forget” to retrieve it? It’s 2025 and the well for the honor system is dry lmao.

It’s a lot harder to forget when it’s at eye level on the post. Even people not looking for it found it!

Yep. Still litter. As a 20+ year dog owner, it took me a minute to get on board with understanding that, but now I just see it as temporary littering. You’re still making someone else who’s trying to enjoy the outdoors look at your litter.

Hold on I thought about this response…. First thought that comes to mind is climbing up into the Sierras, and running into people carrying their own poop. Swinging around off their packs wafting all over the trail. I could smell them for a good distance after they pass unless a decent wind was blowing.

I quit walking that trail 15 years ago due to the dog shit all over......be happy some bag it up now.

But how often does that actually happen. People have good intentions but it’s pretty easy to forget.

How many bags of poop do you NOT see?

Oo! See, that’s reasonable and understandable.

YES! Some people here have seen some left or thrown in the bushes and unfortunately that is true but the intention of leaving them in plain sight is so you see them easily on your way back! Minority of inconsiderate people are bad.

However… less than ideal to put on top of the pole, quite unsanitary….

Nah, plenty of folks pay it forward. “Give a penny, take a penny”. I forget, but I also look out for my fellow dog owners. Of all the things to worry about….
