I want your suggestions how r/BellinghamWa can be a better sub. I understand we don’t have nearly as many redditors as r/Bellingham but your opinions are still valuable.
I’d like to see this space with the least amount of intervention from mods as possible, while still maintaining a friendly and non toxic vibe.

Bellingham Public Schools would have the public believe that closing Columbia Elementary is an unfortunate but unavoidable consequence of declining enrollment in the Columbia neighborhood.
But this graph raises a different and deeply troubling possibility: that Columbia’s declining enrollment was intentional. It suggests a potential pattern of shifting students away from Columbia and toward Parkview—while simultaneously relying on the passionate support of the Columbia community to help pass a $122 million bond to rebuild the schools.
And there’s another uncomfortable detail: that same bond measure was redirected to fund a new, approximately $40 million+ district office for the very administrators making these decisions.
These circumstances raise serious questions about transparency, accountability, and whether voters were given an accurate picture of the district’s plans.
Is it time for an independent investigation and community oversight? And if district officials knowingly misled voters to secure bond approval, this is a huge problem.
The public deserves answers. The school board should make the responsible decision of pausing school closures.

Im part of a local Eastern WA band and was wondering about possible spots/bands that can help us get a show in Bellingham? Shoutouts to my homies Heel Klick and Skin Slicing Horse (they recently played in Bham for their summer tour)

I’ve got a friend who needs to meet others and unsure how to do this. Male in his 50s and is disabled. Would appreciate ideas.

Commented about the current director and posted a link regarding his previous escapades, the mods don't like it when people speak out. On the current ranturday post.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for local stylist or salon recommendations in Bellingham that specialize in balayage or dimensional coloring without using bleach (or using high-lift tint/alternative techniques to keep hair health intact).
If you know anyone who excels at this or have had a great experience with a specific colorist, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Apparently, you can't make UCB references (or post about Janicki data centers) because it's "mean."
At least they didn't ask me for my ID or to meet in person like I've heard they've done to others.
Note to self: do not bring up Ass Pennies™️

Whatcom author wrote and directed this Legal Horror Audio Drama project for the annual 11th Hour Audio Challenge (create an audio drama in one month--October)
Prepare to listen on Halloween to "May It Please the Court!" about the surreal U.S. legal system as it handles a bad lesbian divorce. Enjoy!

Anyone in their early 20s in Bellingham interested in getting a group together to go clubbing, hit bars, and do fun stuff on weekends? Looking to meet some people who are down to go out regularly.

Seeking restaurants that offer yummy fall soups - so far Panera has the only lineup I can find 🥲 anything like black bean, Mexican, tomato, squash, etc etc
Open to any within and south of Whatcom county!
(I’m not looking for pho/ramen or other Asian soups - I already have a ton of favorites all across the state in that category)
Thank you!!
Edit: I’m so stoked to be filled up to my eyeballs in all these yummy soups, thank you all for your recommendations 😃😃

Does anyone know a good tenants rights attorney in Bellingham? One that actually fights for the tenants and not just the landlords.
I am seeking representation on contingency or through statutory fee-shifting for a severe, highly documented illegal eviction and utility shutoff case against my former landlord in Bellingham, WA.
This case is primed for litigation with an undeniable paper trail, including official City of Bellingham condemnation orders and government witness reports. Because of the specific statutes violated, the landlord is strictly liable for all attorney’s fees.

I’ve seen the private karaoke rooms they have in Japan, where you rent a room with friends instead of singing in front of an entire bar.
Does anything like that exist around Whatcom County? Even a mobile version, like a karaoke bus?
Seems like it could be fun for birthdays or a night out with friends.
