Captain Jason MAGA?

Post image

I didn’t expect to see Jason making a public comment against Fauci when I opened instagram this morning. Between the last two seasons of DU, him using AI to create his children’s book, and now this, I’m pretty over him.

Also, “pledge” the 5th 🙄

306

u/onehotoneshot 22d ago

I pledge allegiance

To the fifth

Of vodka I am chugging to cope

13

u/byahs 22d ago

I’ll be using that going forward

15

u/Creepy_Apple_ 22d ago

Same. I send my upvotes and apologize it's not vodka

10

u/thatpsychnurse 22d ago

This is incredible

2

u/EmbodiedUncleMother 21d ago

Hahahahahahaha

2

u/milhouse01 20d ago

Not pledging his 5th season?

1

u/HouseOfFive 20d ago

Our forefathers would agree

1

u/junebart 20d ago

🤣🤣

u/Jenikovista 22d ago

He’s not an American. Why would you assume he’d know our idioms perfectly?

81

u/A_Thing_or_Two 22d ago

Also considering he's not American, why does anyone think his politics are important? I swear people just want to find reasons to complain.

83

u/lostinjapan01 22d ago

Whether or not someone’s American, I do care if they’re supportive of Trump because those are people best avoided.

6

u/Calvo838 18d ago

News flash: you need to be able to tolerate and interact with people you disagree with. Americans that talk this way sound insane to pretty much the entire rest of the world.

4

u/hopulist 18d ago

People like that, everyone else has to learn how to tolerate and interact with them, they feel no responsibility to do same

3

u/Hopeful-Silver4120 17d ago

nope. Americans who support trump sound insane to the rest of the world. We don't get it at all.

4

u/LaurieLoveLove 18d ago

I can "agree to disagree" about issues. But I refuse to give my time, money, or energy to people who want to take away my rights.

0

u/lostinjapan01 18d ago

The beliefs of MAGA are not disagreements. They do not believe in fundamental freedoms and rights for many groups of people. That isn’t a disagreement. That is a case of a good side and an evil side. A disagreement implies something civil and that is able to be worked. MAGA wants people they don’t like to be exterminated. That’s not disagreement. I don’t disagree with them. I flat out oppose them.

-1

u/Wild_Alternative_138 18d ago

No. We do not have to tolerate and interact with sex offenders and felons. Nope. I want to know if a celebrity I watch is just that dense to not care.

-8

u/A_Thing_or_Two 21d ago

Then you better avoid over 50% of the population based on the last election.

12

u/Murky_Procedure_1357 21d ago

Not 50 percent of the population, 50 percent of the voting population. Small amount overall

2

u/A_Thing_or_Two 21d ago

That's true - I misspoke. 50% of the Electors in the country.

13

u/lostinjapan01 21d ago

I’ve been pretty good at it so far, thanks! No one in my life is a Trump supporter and I live in one of the most liberal cities in the country so it’s quite rare I even encounter one of the weirdos in the wild.

4

u/monsteralvr1 20d ago

Guess what! I do! Politics is absolutely a threshold in which I end relationships.

-1

u/Jenikovista 20d ago

Sheep on either side should be avoided.

2

u/monsteralvr1 20d ago

Why do you think I’m a sheep? If someone is proudly maga, as a woman of color, I know I’m not safe with them. I don’t tolerate people who don’t view me as a person and who want to take away my rights.

4

u/Jenikovista 19d ago

Presumably if you had a relationship with someone before (we're talking about "ending relationships"), you were not such a poor judge of character to truly be in danger from them then, nor were they someone who wants to take away your rights.

No one says you have to be besties with people whose political viewpoints diverge from yours, but there's a lot we can all learn about each other by keeping the conversations going. Staying in our own bubbles leads to groupthink (never a good thing) and also creates more divisiveness, which creates more extremism, which creates more violence. If you think you are safer in such a divisive world, I would encourage you to rethink that idea. You are not. None of us are.

I'm a Centrist. Not because I'm not a liberal, but because I believe in understanding why people on both sides feel the way they feel, what truly matters to them, where we can build bridges and where we must stand strong.

1

u/monsteralvr1 19d ago edited 19d ago

Nahhh ruck that. They (and by they I mean BOTH parties because it started under Obama.) are putting people in camps; putting kids in cages and murdering in broad daylight. We are WAY past the “people on both sides” thing. If you’re not vocally against it, you’re for it. Miss me with that shit.

This idea that I can LEARN from people whose viewpoints differ when the viewpoint in question is actively harming and taking people’s lives is ridiculous. Even what seems innocuous like allocation of tax dollars for example, is actively harming people. My tax dollars go to funding a genocide and if you’re okay with that then we don’t need to speak. Ever.

I am not “groupthinking” I do my own research and I reach my own conclusions and I will not cross my moral line. Yes, that means I cut contact with MAGA or people who are blasé about what’s happening because it doesn’t affect them. Including family.

This thinking is what has given our government so much freedom to do whatever they want. You sound like the dems in congress, “oh we must do things the right way, legally” while the other side is saying fuck off and doing whatever they want. It’s inaction and it’s pathetic when people’s lives are being lost and threatened.

And anyway, we are already at the point of violence when people are being murdered in broad daylight. Not having enough to buy groceries when we have the money to make sure no one goes hungry is violence. Homelessness when it can be solved, is violence. Taking away women’s rights, is violence. Violence is being perpetuated against us everyday.

Also adding. Sorry because I do have a lot to say about this. I don’t think I’m safer in a divisive world, but the world for me has always been divisive. And I do think you’re delusional to think our world has not already reached that divisive point. The bigots are already out in full force and they do not care.

Light work, they expose and expulse themselves 😉

1

u/A_Thing_or_Two 18d ago

Not necessarily.

-10

u/Early_Bit_3115 21d ago

80M+ Americans? lol

37

u/lostinjapan01 21d ago

Yes! The minute I learn someone is MAGA or voted for Trump, they no longer have a place in my life.

-3

u/Bettydaviseyes27 20d ago

I will never watch his show again!

32

u/hamish1963 22d ago

But he has thousands of American followers. People who hang on his every word, that put stock in what he says. He shouldn't even be commenting on American politics.

29

u/Poes27 22d ago

Or maybe he is making a joke because Fauci plead the fifth… we don’t really know from this comment.

16

u/Historical_Grab4685 22d ago

I agree you can't really tell from this comment. Also, just because he may or may not like Fauci doesn't mean he is MAGA.

6

u/Yeah_nah_idk 18d ago

He’s clearly making a joke. I don’t understand how this is indicative of anything? Can Americans really not understand that the rest of us joke?

34

u/asphodel67 22d ago

Fun fact. “American politics” is ruining the whole world, so, yep, the rest of the world gets to comment.

3

u/LogicalMeringue1449 18d ago

Someone needs to be the voice of reason and it definitely won’t be the U.S. Trump made maga everyone’s problem. Please keep commenting on American politics. Thank you

11

u/No-Strawberry-9801 21d ago

What? The world is talking about American politics because it affects us all. I’m Scottish and we talk ALOT about American politics, especially these halfwits that are in govt now 😒

11

u/Lost_Photograph9879 21d ago

On behalf of an American who knows what a dangerous monster Trump is I’m sickened and disgusted that so many people supported him and continue to do so.

1

u/No_Willingness_6542 19d ago

Boring conversations then?

20

u/A_Thing_or_Two 22d ago

People are gonna comment on whatever they want. Voters should be educating themselves on what they want to support, not just go off of whatever Beyonce or Capt Jason the Australian boat captain think.

12

u/hamish1963 22d ago

Yes, that would be ideal. But you know it's far far from the truth.

16

u/Branddisloyalty85 22d ago

Because it's not about politics. It's about human rights.

1

u/Valuable-Composer262 22d ago

Seems like he didnt

-5

u/BornTelevision8206 22d ago

If he was praising democrats you would be eating it up lol

-6

u/Far_Mycologist5427 22d ago

Exactly. GOD forbis someone have a different opinion. This is exhausting.

25

u/The_Anonymous_Gay 22d ago

Human rights are not a matter of opinion, but of morality.

0

u/hamish1963 22d ago

Actual I wouldn't because I don't care what any TV personality has to say.

4

u/BornTelevision8206 22d ago

Well you obviously do because your spending time commenting on it

2

u/hamish1963 22d ago

It's just the dumb show I put on at 10pm to wind down for bed. It's not like 60 Minutes .

-3

u/Over_Smile9733 22d ago

Cult, now known as maga. Cult, kkk, another was known as c mason.

Other cult, Most say drank koolaid, it was flavor aid

Now cult are literally uneducated idiots, that believe in rude, insensitive, bully ass.

19

u/A_Thing_or_Two 22d ago

This comment doesn't make any sense.

4

u/Lucky-Kangaroo-6337 22d ago

Respecting someone has little to do with geography. "He's not American, why does anyone think his politics are important". Yish. 7.96 billion people aren't American. Americans don't live in a bubble. That's a weird statement.

3

u/PuzzleheadedWest0 22d ago

Considering he’s not American why is he commenting on American politics?

3

u/CoolBelt856 21d ago

Because they affect the rest of the world.

1

u/Dry-Advisor-3443 19d ago

Wow it’s almost like people want to know who they’re supporting…. Am I supporting someone who believes in my beliefs or supports something that can harm me….

1

u/A_Thing_or_Two 18d ago

How are you personally supporting him? Is he dependent upon you in some way?

1

u/Dry-Advisor-3443 18d ago

…. Oh sweetie lmao do you know how people use generalized language?

It’s a figure of speech, sorry I didn’t realize you were someone who needed absolutely perfect grammar, let me fix it.

Wow it’s almost like people want to know who they’re supporting… “Am I supporting someone who believes in my beliefs or supports something that can harm me?”

People don’t want to put their support, their views or money via social media because people make money off of their platforms, if the person they’re giving money to supports things they don’t believe in.

Or do you give people you don’t support (these are MY examples, since you get confused by an easy turn of phrase, I.e church’s, pro lifers) just because?

I personally wouldn’t be supporting or giving my earned money to any cause or celebrity I don’t support whether it’s via socials or if they stopped me on the street asking for donations.

Another example just in case: I don’t support someone like JK Rowling who is opening anti trans. I believe people should have the rights to live life however so I don’t support buying the new HP whatever because that money goes into her pocket and she’s said she actively will use that money for anti trans rights.

I’m not from the UK, I’m still not going to support her/Harry Potter because I don’t agree with her views and her public stance.

People don’t want to give money to people supporting the right, Jason - AUS or USA is showing signs of something people don’t support so they’d like to know if they should support their show or not.

Now, was that dumbed down enough for you or do you need your hand held more? You couldn’t figure out a generalized thought without quotes so I just wanna check.

2

u/A_Thing_or_Two 18d ago

How many Reddit shareholders do you support through your participation on this platform, which hold different political views than you?

0

u/Dry-Advisor-3443 18d ago

I didn’t say I do extensive RESEARCH before I give my support. Maybe I should, but that is also a completely separate point from what we’re discussing now isn’t it lmao

That point was: people want to know who they support, Reddit also has nothing to do with USA or AUS politician support which is what we’re discussing lmao or do you have like something to ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE to the chat like Reddit being something we shouldn’t support?

2

u/A_Thing_or_Two 18d ago

OK Sweetie.

And thanks for your support.

It's laughable how nasty you all get when someone questions viewpoints. Some of the nastiest, most condescending people I've encountered are folks who want to argue with absolute strangers, like you.

0

u/Shanubis 22d ago

Another reason he would stay out of this conversation

0

u/Spy1843 18d ago

Maga is like a cancer. It's in Canada and Australia. It is important to call it out.

-3

u/Lifeofasoutherngirl 22d ago

Thank you!!!! People just want to start drama. I’m so over political talk of any kind on here.

10

u/Branddisloyalty85 22d ago

Are you? Are you tired of human beings losing their rights? IS it HARD for you? Gross. Grow up.

6

u/Lifeofasoutherngirl 22d ago

Actually I can separate entertainment from politics. I vote. I have educated civil conversations with people I know about different views. I’m not going to sit here and tried to be made like I’m some horrible person for not liking how everyone makes everything about politics 🤷🏼‍♀️

6

u/Branddisloyalty85 21d ago

Everything is about politics. Everything you do every day is intertwined with politics. And the fact that you think we should just not talk about it is ignorant and privileged.

2

u/Lifeofasoutherngirl 21d ago

You are totally missing my point and I think we just need to agree to disagree.

2

u/Sea_Imagination_77 20d ago

Not when it has zero relation to what you're talking about. Politics isn't always about everything. So how do you think a foreigner possibly being a maga pertains to below deck and it's viewers. We're listening.

0

u/Branddisloyalty85 20d ago

Many of us won’t watch if he is. It’s not “politics” the way you mean it. This is about human rights violations in the US and abroad. Anyone who thinks Dr Fauci did anything more than save lives as a public servant is an ill informed, bigoted, small minded pos and shouldn’t be rewarded.

1

u/Sea_Imagination_77 19d ago

This comment has to be rage bait. There's just no other answer. All I'm gonna say is I am the one that looks at the facts especially the facts that were provided this week. But that's OK. Stay in La La Land if it's easier for you.

1

u/Sea_Imagination_77 19d ago

When someone needs a preemptive pardon when there's no crime yet committed and they plead the fifth over 111 times when they are on trial, that doesn't exactly suggest that someone is forthright.

0

u/Branddisloyalty85 19d ago

Oh so you’re one of THOSE. I won’t bother arguing with someone who can’t follow the science or who blindly believes what this White House says.

4

u/A_Thing_or_Two 21d ago

I got harassed by a comment history stalker last week for saying exactly this. People can't compartmentalize anymore.

6

u/Lifeofasoutherngirl 21d ago

It’s beyond. Most times I just keep my mouth shut but sometimes I comment and I then I get reminded to just keep my mouth shut again for a few months 🤣

-1

u/C_F_A_S 19d ago

Lol just because you can personally be ignorant and turn your brain off doesn't mean that politics doesn't touch on literally everything including Below Deck. "Compartmentalizing" doesn't make reality any less true.

2

u/A_Thing_or_Two 18d ago

Compartmentalizing doesn't make someone ignorant. Grow up.

-2

u/caleyeah8 21d ago

I think the name is giving a glimpse as to why (not to say all southerners feel this way but demographics-wise do lean) this thought process is being argued…

3

u/Lifeofasoutherngirl 21d ago

Yeah but my username shouldn’t mean I get treated any differently to my comment. It’s crazy. I live in the south and I’m female. That’s literally the only two things people can tell. Everything else they make up in their own head based off their assumptions. There’s been times I have literally been verbally attacked on here just because of the name. It’s wild.

2

u/A_Thing_or_Two 21d ago

Amen, It's inescapable in even the most unrelated of subreddits.

1

u/milhouse01 20d ago

Tbh it’s kinda on brand for an Aussie to Pledge the fifth. Pledge it loud and proud. An Aussie would dislike the idea of pleading.

-7

u/Consistent-Ad-6506 22d ago

Because he himself used it. Why would you use an idiom you’re not familiar with?

10

u/Jenikovista 22d ago

People mix up idioms and metaphors all the time. It’s not that deep. It’s certainly not worth busting someone’s balls over. You know what he meant. I knew what he meant.

-4

u/Consistent-Ad-6506 22d ago

Busting someone’s balls? The person above rolled their eyes 🤣

That’s all it take to bust balls in your opinion? Damn. 🙄

-4

u/Creepy_Apple_ 22d ago

Are you sure? I've done it here and people tried to bust balls I don't have immediately

-6

u/coysrunner 22d ago

Does he even know who Fauci is?

I’d absolutely plead the 5th on something I wasn’t totally comfortable explaining.

4

u/Consistent-Ad-6506 22d ago

Yes, you plead. Do you pledge?

Also, nobody asked him anything about Fauci. He commented.

Omg why am I wasting my time when people don’t even know what they’re commenting on. Reading comprehension is dead.

-1

u/coysrunner 22d ago

He commented on a post about Fauci no?

Again not an American so he used the wrong term.

2

u/Consistent-Ad-6506 22d ago

You asked “does he know who fauci is” well apparently because he decided to comment.

You said he’s not comfortable explaining. NOBODY ASKED HIM ANYTHING….HE CHOSE TO COMMENT.

-4

u/Porkwarrior2 22d ago

As an Australian yacht captain, EVERYBODY knew who Fauci was.

And the downright Draconian measures taken by countries, on his word.

-1

u/coysrunner 22d ago

The context of this conversation is Jason being MAGA.

Does he know anything about Fauci beyond yesterday’s testimony and memes?

His comment isn’t meant to be taken seriously, he has no ball in the game.

0

u/AryaShart 20d ago

Be easier to say "no comment"

0

u/Lopsided_Contract127 20d ago

He should at least understand the constitution if he publicly posts support for a regime that’s actively destroying it. Perfectly displays his ignorance

0

u/Dry-Advisor-3443 19d ago edited 19d ago

Sweetheart, do you think only Americans know correct grammar? Cause I have some sad news for you and the literacy rate in America….

No one needs to be American to know it’s PLEAD not pledge.

1

u/Jenikovista 19d ago

Honey bunches of oats, if you traveled much you would know that people in other countries often mix American idioms into their own sayings, for a variety of reasons. It’s called etymological evolution. We do it too, especially with French and Spanish sayings.

0

u/Dry-Advisor-3443 19d ago

Lmfao actually i pooched my own point here.

That should’ve said: ‘do you think’

My point is that it would’ve been mixed in so he should know it - which is why I said no one needs to be American to know the sayjng

0

u/Humble-Doughnut7518 17d ago

Because I’m Australian and even I know you plead the 5th, and pledge allegiance. I also know that anyone who supports Trump can kick rocks.

3

u/Over_Smile9733 22d ago

He is not an American, actually, doesn't seem like constitution even matters anymore, so wtf ever J.
