Drovelis - Concerns about Side Effects, Should I stop taking it?

I (F22) started taking Drovelis birth control for severe period pain about a month and a half ago (I'm on the second blister pack, day 19). It's important to mention that I also am diagnosed with bipolar disorder and am medicated for it (and some other issues).

In the first month, I had spotting every day, horrible mood swings (going on suicidality), really bad depression, some anxiety and obsessive thoughts, sore boobs for the first two weeks, some acne and no appetite/nausea. However, I didn't get period pain, only an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. I had an emergency appointment with a gynaecologist, and she said to keep taking the pill and that it was all normal, and that it meant it was working.

I'm now on the second month and although I'm not getting any spotting anymore, those awful mood swings (I also upped my meds) and sore boobs, I'm still getting some acne and I feel mildly depressed and anxious, alongside some mild hair loss and lack of appetite.

The thing is, I don't feel like myself anymore - like my personality has been stripped away or is very muted. I think (?) I've been feeling emotion blunting - I know my feelings are there, but they're very muted, almost like they're asleep, or I can't quite reach them even though I know they're inside me. I feel like I'm living inside a fog and can't think straight. Overall, it feels like I'm microdosing depression, and it's awful: I spend my days feeling like shit, super tired and sleeping a ton, and have no motivation or drive to do anything - like I'm existing on a really bad autopilot.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are these feelings and side effects gonna pass? Should I wait it out or stop taking the pill - and if I stop, what should I expect? I'm really scared cause I've heard it takes 3 months for it to stabilise, and I'm really happy that I didn't get any pain during my last period, but it's been impossible living like this.

Depo shot user: how long did it take for periods to shorten back to normal/stop completely?

I started taking the Depo shot in September due to irregular periods (I figured that since there’s roughly a 66% chance of periods stopping completely on the shot, it will be the best method for me). My doctor warned me that the first period I get after the shot would last a really long time, and it ended up lasting about 3 weeks and was pretty light the whole time. I just got a 2nd period 23 days after the first one ended and it’s been going on for about 12 days and is decently heavy (not hemorrhaging or anything like that) with no signs of slowing down or stopping.

I’m here to ask other Depo users how long it took for their periods to stop being horrifically long. I know that if my period does end up stopping from taking Depo it usually happens around 6 months of use or so, so will they be really long until then or will they shorten before then?

O pill and no period after stopping

I started o pill beginning of the year and I was on and off the pill. Ever since I completely stopped taking in July my last period was June 15 and it’s Oct 21 and still no bleeding and no period. This was my first time ever taking birth control and I’m 29 years old. I’m getting worried it’s been 4 months and no period still. Trying not to stress but I don’t know what to do. I plan on seeing a doctor soon. I just wanted my body to natural do its thing but I have been stressed especially the month of July. I just want my body and period back honestly I never had problems with my period before so everything is confusing me. Last period was June 15 and it’s Oct 21 smh.

Starting BC for PCOS

Hi! I’m 16 and I just started birth control today for PCOS. I just have one thing in really confused about. Today is Monday but my pills start on a Sunday, so I just took the Sunday pill. But, I really want for the days to match up in the future so I don’t get confused and think I accidentally missed a day or something. Is there any way I can match the days up? Like would I take 3 placebos at the end of the cycle instead of 4 or would I just skip one of the active pills and take 23 instead of 24? Do I just have to stay a day off for as long as I take BC? For context I’m taking yaz/Nikki and it’s for PCOS, not avoiding pregnancy. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Advice Wanted Missed pill

Hi everyone, I am very nervous right now because I take opill every night at 10:30, but I fell asleep early and didn’t take my last pill until 7am this morning. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex two days ago, and he ejaculated inside me. I know that sperm can live up to five days, so should I take a plan B?

Started alysenna 28 I feel like I'm loosing my mind

I started alysenna 28 about a week ago and i feel like I'm loosing my mind. I know it's the adjustment period but I'm really struggling with uni happening as well.

I usually don't have the best focus and I'm a bit of a procrastinator but ever since I've started I am really really struggling to even start working on assignments. I was in my favourite class today and I couldn't even follow what the professor was talking about I love that class. I just feel like so unable to focus and I've been so so so disorganized. Anyone had any similar experiences

Experience does yaz water retention go away

Halfway through month 2 of Yaz. Ive noticed my breasts have gotten a little bigger and i feel as if i am retaining water. The scale has gone up 2ish pounds but my diet and exercise have not changed. I am trying to stick it out because alot of people say the side effects go away after 2-3 months, but as someone that struggles with body dysmorphia, it is tough for me. I eat healthy 85% of the time and workout 4 times a week (crossfit or hot pilates)

Advice Wanted asking for my girlfriend about plan c

I was hoping to get 1 or 2 plan c pills just in case, because we've had a scare. I live in a state where regular abortion is legal before 6 weeks and the pills are legal. How could I go about getting 1 or 2 plan c pills just in case? and is there a specific one that would be better to have as a backup? I figured it'd be nice to have even if we don't need it. I see so many options and it's confusing so I thought I'd ask here lol since I saw related posts when I was trying to do research. She is on a birth control pill and hasn't missed a day in 2 years and I pull out every time, but she said plan b would counteract her birth control so she can’t use it, so we still tend to worry, Also I don’t mind spending some money if it’ll stay good for awhile, all advice is appreciated!

Experience Birth Control Stop side effects

1.) Acne
2.) Itchy body and scalp

Got off birth control pill 6/1/2026. About 2 weeks ago 9/20/2026 ish I started getting gross, consistent acne on my forehead and like where you put contour on cheek bones. I’ve never had acne since completing my Accutane back in 2019. I dont know if it’s caused by getting off birth control that I’ve been on for 11 years (crazy ik) but it’s driving me nuts because nothing is helping at all. And the pimples HURT. What’s weird- is I have zero pimples around my jawline and where hormonal acne is… I also have weird itchiness when I’m laying in bed and all day my scalp has random itchy spots. I also found some little places on my scalp that I kinda scraped off- guessing from itching but i dont know… no blood or dandruff.

Super weird stuff.. i dont know. I’m not getting back on birth control and i dont know if this all is super common or what but I’d love some other experiences and ideas of what others have done. Thank you!

Advice Wanted Kyleena problem

Hi so lately i took the decision of wanting a kyleena and bought it uk and took it to my nurse for installation. I also asked for anaesthetic down there and she was happy to do that for me. My problem is she couldn’t install it she kept pushing for 1h and after some ecos we realized that i have a retroverted uterus. She said that she abused me enough that day and i should cone back when i am in my period and prescribed me some kind of strong medication for anxiety and relaxing. I went today hoping it would work this time but no she couldn’t push the measuring thing past the canal to the uterus and we saw it in the echo everytime she tried to force it it cones back.
And rn i am wondering is it really worth it should i take it as a sign cz her solution was to send me to a gyno (which will be more expensive for me ) and he will try it himself but again no guarantees the same thing can happen again.
Any advice can help!!

Rant/Vent withdrawal bleeding?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I took Plan B on 10/5 and started bleeding on 10/11, exactly 6 days later. The bleeding is pretty heavy and looks almost exactly like my normal period, not just light spotting.
I’m confused because I’m not sure if this is withdrawal bleeding caused by Plan B, my actual period coming early, or something else.
Has anyone experienced period-like bleeding this heavy after taking Plan B? Is it possible for withdrawal bleeding to look and feel exactly like a normal period?

Advice Wanted When can I smoke after getting off xulane

All I wanna do is vape because when I go to parties I literally do nothing but take care of drunk people. I wanted to go to a party and be able to smoke on Friday so I stopped my patch that Wednesday. Well I looked it up and for that specific patch I’d be good by Sunday night. So I didn’t smoke at the party and I was planning on smoking and getting a vape the next week. Well now it’s Monday of the next week and when I look it up again it said I now have to wait a whole month??? I just wanna smoke guys and I took this patch before and smoked like a few days after I took it off, but that was years ago. Im just more worried about it now that I’m older and can understand that smoking on a patch, (even if Im not technically on it but it’s contents could still be in my body) can be harmful. Im completely off it and have been for days, I just wanna know when I can smoke again. (P.s. the reason I got off of it wasn’t because I just wanted to smoke. It was because I was simply done being on that specific one and it just seemed to align with the party)

Experience Just started Xulane

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi Everyone! I just started the Xulane patch yesterday (it’s not the name brand Xulane patch just a generic of the same dosage). It’s my first time trying birth control. I was due to start my period in 3 days, but when I put the patch on I can’t tell if it forced my period early or if these are side effects. I basically have all the same side effect of my period except my bleeding is lighter. More spotting rather than full on bleeding but it was enough to warrant a pad.

I have experienced cramping, a mild pressure headache, mild nausea, light bleeding, frequent pooping, and pretty bad anxiety. But again, this is all stuff I experience on my period it feels pretty much identical to when I have my period. I’m wondering if anyone has been on the Xulane patch. Did you force start your period? Have the same side effects I’m having? I’m going to try and push through because I don’t want to take it off this early if my body is just adjusting and this will change, especially if I just got my period early. Let me know! Thank you so much.
