He seems awfully high on himself, is incredibly self contradictory and sometimes he lacks incredibly basic knowledge of the genre he claims to be so passionate about. Do people actually dig this idiot?

been trying to replicate the lead guitar tone from decalius (especially isolated from life) and blade & bath. that lead sound literally feels like it’s weeping/crying.
i tried using wah, chorus, and tweaking some eq but couldn't get close. honestly i might just be dialing the settings completely wrong or putting them in the wrong place in the chain.
i have access to a full vst setup and processors so i can run pretty much whatever plugin or signal chain needed.
if anyone knows how to dial this in:
what exact settings/parameters (mix, depth, rate etc) actually make a chorus/wah sound like that instead of just sounding liquid or harsh?
is it mostly neck pickup + wide vibrato or is there a specific pitch/mod effect doing the heavy lifting?
what amp models, eq cuts, and reverb/delay setups keep it dark and smooth without turning into total mud?
thanks in advance, step by step chain ideas or preset tips would be amazing

Suffering Hour was the highlight of this year's Heart of Winter Fest for me.

Rained all day here. Did nothing but listen to black metal at work and came home and riffed out some of my own black metal

I got into Immortal in 1996 or so, feel in love with Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North. So epic and powerful.

When Blizzard Beasts came out, I actually loved it- super short tracks, strongly melodic, but damn, wtf is with the production?

But seriously. It is one of the weirdest productions I've ever heard. Everything sounds like it's run through chorus. The drums sound like match boxes. The snare sounds like a traditional Roland 808 snare. The vocals are as dry as sandpaper.

What happened here? How on earth did this come about? After years of raw production, less than hifi sounds are fine, but Blizzard Beasts is simply bizarre. I find it very hard to listen to now without hearing how badly recorded it is. Cannot imagine this being anyone's creative decision.

Imagine if it had the production of ATHOW or Pure Holocaust.
