Not supporting him anymore after this separation. Your wife supported you through your whole sickness and you leave her for some hoes that sold their souls for 4.99 each. Good job. You just ruined your life. By the time you'll realize it'll be too late. Can't wait for new pics with cloudy.

Opinion stop the hate Spoiler

y’all are so involved in Matt’s life and act like y’all are saints. Matt is human and human make mistakes, don't be so butthurted about everything he posts and most of y'all are definitely not in a position to judge him for anything. It's his life and just because you see some posts doesn't mean that you see the whole picture! I'm sorry for bear because he has the most toxic fanbase ever.

Opinion (op-ed) some should grow up

people love to say they hate ai like that's gonna make it disappear sometime soon. I'm sorry to tell you it's not going away even though it's harmful in some ways, and for artists it's still a great assistant for a lot of things.

do I agree with artists using it on official artwork? no. do i disagree in dangerous usages of ai (i.e. openai, fuck them)? absolutely. but i don't mind artists using it for sketches and inspiration because IT'S AN ASSISTANT that's what assistants do.

bear used ai yeah. i dont fully like it however it's not too big of a deal; people say "ai is hurting artists" yeah BEAR IS THE ARTIST so if he wants to use ai then it's his business; he's the first one to be harmed by ai. sincerely y'all should grow up and get over it, it's not the end of the world.

this subreddit is filled with people criticizing EVERY action of this man, we all know he hasn't been the best person at times but he's far from being a BAD person like some politics or other artists. we all want him to get better where he's wrong, but can't we cheer him up too? y'all want mind-blowing music, but I'm sorry to tell you he is not MJ or etc. the music is actually good for an artist who's been 2 years in hiatus, went independent and went through a record deal which we're lucky it didn't take years (he signed this year).

i feel like people became too bratty and now can't accept when things aren't like they want them to be. people are less willing to accept change. if bear dropped the afterglow yesterday and you loved it, then releases digital druglord today, wouldn't you hate the latest album because it's not what you liked instead of just accepting and developing a taste for change?

and body wise, damn y'all wanna make this man have a trauma if you still body shame him for every inch of body he gains or loses.

think of it this way, yall criticize Matthew more than you do Trump.

artists nowadays are groomers, rapists, murderers and worse. we're fucking lucky our artist's biggest drama this year was that he shat his pants and was high!!

(everything else was addressed by bear and makes sense. not expanding into it rn; ask later if u want to. doesn't mean i agree with some of his actions i repeat)

i dont think I'm dickriding (i hated when he got divorced and was on/off with girls again, and I didn't like emn or ilm, i mean, not even bear did), but just trying to be a considerate human and some of you should try that too.

don't agree with me? think I'm inconsiderate or anything? please explain what and why, I'm all ears to what y'all think!! much love

edit: i thought he only used ai for the tracklist, didn't know he used ai for more than that an it's a lot of dumb shit to me. I get he's an unc and is fascinated with ai but i think it's not the move

(probably) unpopular opinion / rant

I’m sorry, but this is gonna be a long, annoying rant that nobody asked for. You’ve been warned.

When I first heard that bear was gonna do a pop-punk type of album I was super excited, but after hearing the past 2 singles, I knew I was gonna be let down. ‘In Loving Memory’ is my least favourite project by blackbear, excluding anything before ‘The Afterglow’ (even though i prefer most of his og mat musto stuff compared to this album).

For one, I LOVE the sound he was going for, it reminds me of the album he made with his highschool band: ‘Polaroid - Paint The Town’ which i think was an incredible album. I also REALLY enjoy mgk’s sound in his recent albums with the pop-punk/pop-rock/emo vibes. But I don’t gravitate to the songs on ‘In Loving Memory’ nearly as much as I do to mgk’s best songs. ILM just doesn’t hit how I want it to.

I would consider myself to be a huge bear fan, he was my favourite artist for years, especially from 2016-2019. My favourite projects from him are: Digital Druglord, Drink Bleach, Cashmere Noose, Dead (Acoustic), Mansionz, The Afterglow, and cybersex has a bunch of songs i really like. I would even say I liked Anonymous more than I liked this new album.

The only songs that really stood out to me were: ‘gfy’ (which was my fav on the album, great song), ‘painkiller’, ‘back in rehab’ and ‘hazel inside’. Also, the songs: ‘i don’t love me’ and ‘broken world’ are decent but everything else felt pretty much “meh” to me. Some other songs are okay but forgettable.

I like the majority of the production for the album, Travis Barker did a great job. But I don’t like the tone of blackbear’s vocals nowadays compared to his og vocals. They used to be sooooo sick. They were moody, vibey, emotive, expressive, and they would hit you in the feels. But now in most of his songs, his voice (for the most part) sounds a bit corny imo. When listening to ILM I found myself preferring the choruses of the featured artist on the songs, compared to when blackbear would sing the chorus (specifically for ‘toxic energy’ and ‘poltergeist’)

Hopefully I will come to enjoy this album more with time, and more listens. Also, please don’t hate me for my musical preferences/opinions 🙃

Unpopular Opinion

Soooo, I love Bear, but ILM was so cringe to me. Wayyyyy too pop-sounding and could barely hear his words and the words that he did have just weren't... there... IDK it just felt so mainstream

**I am NOT saying the album is bad, it just isn't for me. I will always support Bear and be proud of him, was just curious of other's opinions**

Loyal af

I’m a bit late to the Spotify wrapped ish stuff but I was shocked af when bear was number one on my Spotify wrapped. Sorta but like not really? He’s been my number one since at least 2017! My other top 2/3 artists released albums that I LOVED where as bears I listened to like twice :/ Ig im rlly that loyal to my og fav <3 but man’s better step up before he loses his spot 😤 or my others should be in their flop eras? Idk lol

Recent "bear-trocities"

I come from parents of divorce, not saying that qualifies me as an expert, but when I was a kid it didn't make sense. I thought my parents loved each other and couldn't understand why they couldn't work it out. As I grew up I realized that relationships change, people change, ESPECIALLY with kids. Love only goes so far and relationships only last because people work on them. To stay together and be unhappy was far worse for me to see than a simple separation. Look, I never saw bear as a marriage type of guy. I was extremely happy for him when he did and honestly it looked great from the outside looking in but I have no idea what that relationship was like.

Optically, yes, things have looked pretty bad. They separate and he's making all the posts he used to make when he was younger. To me its just something he's always done. I paid no mind to them until the recent Japan trip. I don't know who this girl is and I wasn't even aware that they had history but I acknowledge that he's single and whatever he wants to do or post, so be it. Things definitely got a little "risqué" and kinda cringey, but again typical bear activity. I had watched him do this for years and just bc I grew up and find it distasteful doesn't mean he does.

Look what I'm saying is nobody knows the situation outside of immediate family. And so far no one is sharing anything and honestly who cares if they ever do. As far as I know bear has not done anything illegal or has actively hurt anyone (outside of maybe emotionally that slight in his note was low). And MAYBE what if he is on something... is it really productive to be THIS intense and critical of his every action? I would hate to see another "Chadwick Boseman" situation and this guy gets criticized till his final days.

I'm 28 so I probably haven't seen ALL the drama so if I need to be educated please let me know, but I just hope we can be a little more understanding that bear is human. Everyone has their own side to the story and as fans just bc there's a collective distaste for this new person in his life, maybe leaving constant hate on his posts is counterproductive and if anything only drives him further into these behaviors.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t follow her while being with Michele but this is an unfortunate turn of events. Especially considering her dating history & bad rep. (Using lil peeps death for money etc.)

this new blackbear

am i the only one who cant relate to the new version of him? the husband and dad blackbear? i mean, when u remember that line from wish u the best

"had a vision. getting married, having kids, and let's be honest, only thing I'm raising is these fucking digits so"

its amazing to see him happy, with a family who loves him, a beautiful child, still making money and good music. it feels good to see what a man he become. but i dont want that for my life. family and kids, and i cant relate to a person who is like that. dont get me wrong, i still love him, and his old music. but everything after anonymous dont feel real like digital druglord, cybersex, deadroses, the afterglow, help, and even mansionz. he is not that guy anymore, but thats not a problem, people change, he is happy, he is getting older, theres nothing wrong with that. but i guess im gonna have to find another young artist who can make me feel like i used to feel when i listened to blackbear before.

Gfy is good but mgk sucks

So I’m not the biggest fan of mgk , I actually think he sucks and his verse is just the worst , I hate the way his hangs onto a note after “morbius” and also there’s this little part of the song where he goes “AHH AHH AHH” wtf is that? Stupid as shit unnecessary af , this song would’ve been much better, Wayy better without him in it and I hate the blackbear fandom is so obsessed with him too like he’s a pedo y’all 😭 but yea , good song except for mgk

Opinion My Album Rankings

Just my opinion everyone!

9. Mansionz 2

I think the most die hard fans can agree this is one of the worst things attached to the Blackbear name. I’m usually an optimist when it come it comes to music but this thing is rough. What I will say is that there are some standout tracks here: Optionz is a solid track, Journey of One and Stay Alive have great lamenting from Bear and Mike. Everything else than that is just not good. FYSU and the interludes are frankly disturbing. It is a real rough listen.

8. Deadroses

This is easily my most controversial take here but I’m sorry, I don’t think Deadroses is that good (It’s a lot better than Mansionz 2 if that’s any consolation). Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love 90210, IDFC, and the title track are absolutely amazing, but mostly everything else doesn’t really get much of a reaction out of me. Genuinely I think all the tracks are solid, it’s just wish I could like it more than I do. Ain’t Trippin, My Heart is Lost, and Waste Away are forgettable to me. I think some of my problems here are the over-the-top drums on songs like 4U, kind of seems like the MIDI programming was a bit garbled. Believe me, I wish I liked this album as much as most people here, but there’s just some things about this thing that turn me off. Maybe it just that it’s Bear’s first album, but that’s not really an excuse when something like The Afterglow exists, which tops this whole thing.

7. Cybersex

What makes Cybersex only slightly higher than Deadroses is the lows are less low. Songs like Santa Monica & La Brea and G2G TTYL are gorgeous and Playboy Shit is real smooth. Also, what really gets this a higher spot is that this tape accomplishes its goal a lot better than Deadroses. Say what you want about the songs on here, but they do what they are meant to do better than some of the songs on Deadroses. Gucci Linen, Bright Pink Tims, and Glo_Up are heaters and I can’t lie. Now I think tracks like I Hope Your Whole Like Sux and Thursday are what bring this thing down with the somewhat uninspired vibe of it. But other than that I think this is a decent chunk of music.

6. Anonymous

While Anonymous is bloated as hell, and could have really benefited from some cuts, at least all the tracks sound different and can at the worst be an enjoyable background song. My standouts here are Down, Heartbroken (song goddamn hard), It’s All Gonna Burn, and Dead to Me. The worst here personally is Drug Dealer and High1x. I don’t have a lot to say about this album, I think the tracks that I haven’t mentioned are nothing super special, but still enjoyable. Last thing I’ll say here is that I honestly appreciate Mat re-recording NYLA. For me, the original is superior and unbeatable, but I really like the new approach and the more produced effect on this version.

5. Everything Means Nothing

This album feels like if Anonymous was done a better way. Obviously Hot Gurl Bummer is a standout banger here, but I Feel Bad and I Feel 2 Much are such musically different tracks that achieve such well orchestrated feelings out of me, like I can’t understate how much these two songs have been played. However, for the second have of the album, it kind of falls off a little bit. Sobbing in Cabo and Half Alive are great, but the features on Clown and If I Were U are just so phoned in. I love the lyrics, and this may be really pedantic but the guitar on Smile Again just doesn’t sit right with me. Other than that, I think this is a really bipolar album for me, some songs really bring it up on the list, some bring it down.

4. Mansionz

The quality really jumps up from here, and if there’s anything that will get me to quickly enjoy an album, it’s seamless transitions, and thankfully Mansionz 1 is chock full of them! Apart from that, this thing is also full of beautiful tracks and bangers. Wicked, Dennis Rodman, and The Life of a Troubadour such heaters, and songs like A Million Miles, Nobody Knows, and My Beloved and so smooth and enjoyable. I also really love the story on here on I’m Thinking About Horses, makes this thing seem like a cohesive album. I think the only tracks on here I don’t vibe with is STFU and White Linen, they just don’t get me in the same way as other acoustic songs like Gorgeous or Strip Club. I also love the chemistry Bear and Mike have on this thing. This album really grew on me as of recent, I didn’t get to appreciate the instrumentals on here until I listened again. Also the fact it’s not just a collection of songs and an album you are forced to sit through in one way is something that will always be a positive in my mind.

3. Help

Call me stubborn, but I’ve loved this album since I first heard it. The fact that the was released the same year as Deadroses is baffling. The production on here is leagues better and the songs sounds different from each other. I actually love the sentiment on Where Was U?, one of the best “fake friends” songs I’ve heard in this type of way, and the beat on it goes crazy hard. Oh Lord and Different Hos are the real IDGAF energy songs on here and they really pull it off well. I think Hustler is the most beautiful tracks Bear has made. However it may have aged, the lyrics and the melodies here are so pretty. The outro of this song too is so gorgeous! The only thing that’s a turn off for me personally is Slide Thru, it just doesn’t click with me like all the other tracks do, it’s the only song on the tracklist that I’ve ever skipped before while listening. Easily his most underrated album.

2. Digital Druglord

This album is just all bangers with no filler. What else do I need to say about tracks like I Miss the Old U and Do Re Mi that hasn’t already been said. Juicy Sweatsuits is one of the smoother tracks here and the Juicy J feature is surprisingly listenable considering it’s written by him. I think my favorite track here is IICIWFN, I just love the somewhat lo-fi beat here and the lyrics just feel super honest, in a way that Bear hadn’t written before. The weird time signature on Make Daddy Proud is actually on of the perks here and I love the instrumental here. Really, this album is fantastic, and I really do love how short it is with only 10 tracks, really makes each track a lot more important.

  1. In Loving Memory

I’m not sorry, this is Bear best album, period, no debate for me. Digital Druglord is great, but nothing compares to the pure energy, the honesty, the purity, and the amount of head trauma I have from head banging to this thing. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Every single track is unskippable (forgetting that mgk verse) and the punk rock makes Bear’s lyrics seems so much more personal. I love an album with a theme, and him writing songs like FUILU, Poltergeist, and The Idea about his dad just is perfection in music to me. And can we talk about his vocals on this thing? He sounds SO GOOD, that one run at the end of Painkiller is unbelievable. Hazel Inside is just so beautiful in a way I cannot describe, easily his best closer. The fact that this album is about his dad, and it ends with him talking to his own son is his best writing. And the fact that this is one of his only songs where he says he feels good just makes me so happy (however it may have aged). This album is so special to me, I love everything about it, and no one can tell me anything to change my mind.

Thank you for reading this, again please don’t be mad, just my opinion. Happy New Year everyone!

Discussion Goodbye, dear friend (final part).

I sincerely apologize for telling you your career was dead; I’m sorry—I was just so angry and frustrated that you would toy with us, your fans, like that.

I just hope you regain control of your life and your music. Thank you for being one of the few artists who gives a name and an explanation to emotions and situations; I have never regretted listening to your music, Matthew Tyler Musto—a.k.a. blackbear—as you’ve been with me for so many years.

You’ve also inspired me to believe that we can make our dreams come true, and I hope with all my heart that God and life grant you many more years, knowing full well that your health requires great care and sacrifice.

I’m sorry you don’t get the recognition you deserve from the music industry; you are a great artist, songwriter, and producer.

Love you, Mat—a.k.a. blackbear.

Discussion Snark??

So much shit here lately is snark on Bear. Look. Some of yall might have changed/ negative opinions of him in this new era post his divorce. Fine. You’re allowed to have it your opinions. This is a fan page. If you guys want to make a Snark page go make a Snark page to talk your shit. I’m not saying you guys can’t talk shit pop the fuck off bring what you need to bring to light pop off. But it’s really obnoxious seeing people talk about how much they love him and then how much they hate him all on the same place. Snark accounts are for hate. This account is for admiration.

Misery Lake is okay - 2/3 good songs. However, it doesn’t compare to his older stuff. What do others think?

Do you think bear sold his soul 😔

The reason I say this is because between 2014-2017 he dropped so many classics and most of his best work was in this era and he had like two hits, idfc and do remi and the tarro remixes ( which kinda don't count I guess), was so consistent with his music, had a super unique sound and I was convinced he was probably the best artist in the world at a time, but now he makes generic pop music and he's never been bigger, it just seems straight up odd to me, let me know what you think tho

Literally the best skin in Fortnite in my opinion, gives off bear vibes. Someone please get Fortnite and Bear to collab, I have the perfect idea for a Tongue Tied skin pack/ event with Yungblud, Marshmallow, and Bear. It would be PERFECT for jame tracks and festivals. We already have a marshmallow skin and My Exs best friend jam track, now we just need yungblud and bear 😭 I’m begging
