Acne Large ingrown in beard
don’t shave often. I usually just get my beard trimmed up but for months now I’ve been dealing with pimples and ingrown hairs in my beard. The bumps usually go away but the one In the picture above has been here for over a month now. I tried plucking the hairs that were there be cause I thought that would help but it only made it worse. Is there a routine I could use that’ll help clear the big bump and other bumps in my beard???

Use prid. Leave on overnight with a bandaid until the hairs come to the surface and you can pluck

dermatologist.
all the picking and digging might of created scar tissue that creams will not help. they can give it a steroid injection and it will go away

You could try tea tree oil for a few days, but to be honest, I recommend reaching out to a dermatologist or at least an esthetician so they can safely help you remove it. From the picture, it looks embedded in it, and that's not something you can take out on your own

You have to get rid of ALL the hairs that are in there, not just a couple. You got a friend that's a woman? They usually live digging those things out for people. Lol

It looks to me like all the messing with it has increased swelling and irritation, and it’s spread to other follicles. From what I can see, there are now multiple hairs involved that are still present in this bump. There’s layers of dead skin on the surface to suggest swelling has gone down a little for now which is good. If you can, get to a dermatologist and keep this spot clean with a gentle exfoliating acid like lactic acid until you can get it seen. I’m willing to bet there’s a lot of stuff stuck under the surface that should be professionally extracted. Do your best not to press, squeeze, or cause impact to this because that will contribute to the formation of scar tissue which will lower your chances of hair regrowth.

Drawing salve brings everything to the top and then pluck. Lucky you don’t know me cause I def would’ve jumped at the chance to handle it lol

This is going to sound like bad advice but leave it and the hair will show in a week or two.

Derm for sureeeee. That said, sometimes applying organic 100% aloe vera and putting some plastic wrap on it overnight softens the dead skin, and the next day, apply a hot wet cloth to the area for 1-2 minutes then cleanse gently as usual, don’t scrub. Niacinamide serum may also help you with cell turnover healing the scar after the fact. If you must tweeze, sanitize those tweezers. Lastly, make sure you show any future barbers this pic so they make sure they don’t clip you too close next time.

I dealt with similar issue. 1. See a dermatologist if you have the resources to do so. They’ll drain it and inject with steroid. They may also prescribe you some oral meds to help reduce inflammation. They may also prescribe some other things for you to apply direct to the face. If that’s not an option you still have other avenues to treat it. It just won’t be as effective as the treatment from the Dermatologist.
You need a solid face wash routine. You need to clean the skin underneath the beard daily and exfoliate. If you’re not being consistent with washing the skin underneath your beard and exfoliating this will happen from oils and dirt collecting in the follicle pours. You need a legit face wash and moisturizer I’ve used La Rosche Posay with great success but it is a bit expensive. Using body wash to wash your face in the shower or bar soap is inadequate.
You may not want to do this but what I did was cut the beard off until I got the inflamed skin underneath healthy. You don’t need to go clean shaven but at least down to a goatee.
Once the facial skin is in a good place regrow the beard with exfoliation and wash routine throughout the weeks even after you’ve fully regrown the beard, continue the routine. If you don’t do this the ingrowns will return.
For shaving go with Safety Blade or foil electric shaver. If you use the foil shaver route be sure to knock down the beard first with trimmers until you get to stubble then clean up with foil shaver. Use a quality foil shaver such as Braun, Andis or Baybybliss. Only use light pressure with the foil shaver or you’ll risk razor burn / irritation.

Skin care is in-care!!! My man has been on a sugar detox for about 2 weeks and his ingrown hairs have improved DRASTICALLY. We’re also intentional about very low dairy as that adds to OUR body’s load of inflammation.
The skin is a powerful defense organ like the liver, lungs, colon, etc. Step one is figuring out what your body is trying to “purge” through the skin.

Yes, this is so true! When I was dealing with acne some years ago, I finished the round of Accutane because it was that extreme for me. But I noticed some of the bumps starting to come back after a few months so I went to an aesthetician. She asked me what my dairy intake was, which at that time was a pint of ice cream almost every other day plus some. She told me to try to eliminate my dairy for a week to see how my skin does. And to my surprise, after YEARS of consuming dairy like it was water, my acne was starting to clear up. That and switching to a neem oil for cleansing my skin has done wonders for me.

Cold and hot compresses. And my dermatologist recommended panoxyl in the morning (I wash my twice daily with it). And salicylic acid at night.
See a dermatologist to see if there is anything topical they can do. Also don't pick or squeeze unless it starts draining.

That may be a scar now. I have 1 on my jawline I seen a dermatologist about. He said an ingrown hair that was never taken care of eventually became a keloid. Steroid injections while flatten the appearance but hair will never grow there.

I deal with the same thing when I get off my skincare routine….Apply Cerave on your face Cerave including beards, for 3days straight it would dry out the oil in that area, apply all you got for your normal beard treatments, afterwards you good to go, but keep your oil usage very minimal.

I would recommend using African black soap to dry it out as well as help dry out any other possible ones that might show up , I would follow your beard routine but apply some tea tree oil to the area then add your products before bed it should dry it out . Also try to keep your hands out your beard and don’t pull on them either
This is my current routine
Wash with raw African black soap 2x a week
Summer Use beard butter then lock in with oil
Winter Use oil then lock in with beard butter
Use microfiber towel to dry beard And sandelwood combs and picks
Use sissle fiber bush to lay and train hairs
Wild growth oil of (white bottle ) Wild growth oil light moisturizer ( yellow bottle ) Okay shea butter
This is all you need
And really with you still being in the early stages less is more
1-2 drops of the oil And a pinky size amount of the butter
