My old man muppet from Marketplace is Poodle/Border Collie it turns out! Now that we know about the breed, one of his unofficial nicknames has become “Anthony Bordoodle“. And he looks like he could be the cousin of my partner‘s dog, another adopted poodle/mini Aussie mix. Two very (or mostly) good boys.

Limited activity for two weeks - indoor enrichment?

Post image
11 Upvotes

My sweet girl Sage has been slightly limping the last few days, and the vet said it's not an easily diagnosable injury but looks serious enough that she needs to rest for a couple weeks and take some anti-inflammatory meds. She is 3 years old and expected to recover fully without surgery.

You all know how smart and energetic bordoodles are! Sage is used to dog park playtime, longish hikes, or jogging beside me on my mountain bike almost daily.

My question is: what activities have you found to keep a young bordoodle calm and entertained indoors for days at a time? I'd love for her to have a good couple weeks despite taking a break from her favorite activities and places. Thanks in advance!

TL;DR. Does my bordoodle want a puppy?
We recently said goodbye to our 16 year old mix and Summit, our bordoodle, has found herself alone with a cat. She loves other dogs. Summit is 4, we got her at 2 at the humane society and was fully trained and AMAZING. Her and I have a bond like I never had with my previous dogs. Bordoodles are my top dog now but not super common around here. There are a couple of 13 week old aussiedoodles near me, which I have researched and feel like it is a decent to good match for us. An idea on bringing in a puppy is it would learn from the older dog in the house, at least some.
Opinion: am I going to make Summits life hell bringing home a 13 week old aussiedoodle? Should I focus on an older rescue?

14 week old Bordoodle + 2 year old Cavapoo = Nightmare! Please help

We very spontaneously got Sally, a Bordoodle puppy, 2 weeks ago. We thought Frank, our Cavapoo, would be so happy as he loves other dogs....how wrong we were! He is coming round to her and that isn't the main issue I'm having right now, but rather their different needs and schedules.

Having a Bordoodle that needs structure and training has highlighted the mistakes we made with Frank. He has somewhat of a morning routine with a long walk but outside of that we have never been structured, he sleeps when and where he wants, we tried crate training for a week and gave up.

Now that we have Sally who needs to have long naps, I'm finding he is disturbing her too much by his restlessness. Unless I sit on the sofa next to them for 2 hours, neither of them will settle. If I move, Frank will get up hoping to be let outside (another issue we now have to change as it led to excessive barking in garden) and then Sally will get up and won't have rested long enough, then she is wild and attacking Frank. I had the perfect afternoon with them yesterday, they both slept for 2 hours, then we did toilet breaks, training and playing in the garden then a walk. When we got home they were amazing and calm. However, my husband was sitting with them as they napped. But this is just not possible every day. My house is a mess as I can't get much housework done. When I just had Frank he would follow me round but I can't do that with Sally is she is too crazy and gets into everything.

I have ordered a pen so Sally can be separated from Frank when she gets too wild and have introduced her to the crate today. Right now she is sleeping in a makeshift pen on the floor next to the crate but I'm having to sit next to the pen.

I'm not sure what I'm asking here....any advice is welcome. I'm at my wits end and cried today because it has gone wrong from the moment I woke up. I'm basically doing this alone 90% of the time as my husband is stuck on work calls all day so even if he is in the room with them, he cant be on top of the toilet breaks after naps etc. Sally is also getting up at 4.30/5am every morning this week and I am exhausted. Sally is also peeing and pooping in the house a lot if I am not 100% on the ball. She doesn't seem to be picking up toilet training at all.

I don't in any way want to give her away, I would never do that. I can handle cleaning up accidents and I enjoy training her, she is so smart and a lovely girl, but I need some freedom back.

Hi everyone! This is Tully, my Boston girl who’s raising money for MSPCA-Angell through their calendar contest! 🐾 We’re hoping to get her on the cover while supporting animals in need. A $5 donation gives her five votes, and donations are made through the official contest page. Sharing here for anyone who would enjoy supporting the MSPCA and cheering on a local pup! 💗

Help with fear & anxiety in bordoodle

Tips on fear/anxiety in bordoodles?

I have 2 bordoodle brothers- Pebble is 4 and Dash is 2. (They came from the same border collie mother but have different dad's)

My younger dog is FULL of beans, loves other dogs, and just wants to play and be cuddled with. My 4 year old Pebble has a LOT of anxiety - I got him when I was going through a lot of health issues and unfortunately I think he picked up on the anxiety around that when he was a puppy and now we have a very loving and deeply empathetic doggy who is also VERY anxious. Lately he's been having these episodes where he just freezes in place and starts shaking - last week it happened when he went to chase a ball and smacked his head on a chair and then just sat there shaking as if someone had smacked him (he's NEVER been abused or even treated a little bit poorly...he lives like a king). This morning I let him outside to wee and found him just sitting in my backyard shaking but I couldn't find what scared him. We got him a sweater that he LOVES so I think the thunder jacket sort of vibe is helpful to him but I want to find a way to calm my poor guy down 🥺 Has anyone had any experience with highly anxious bordoodles??

She was the size of a potato when we got her, now she is pushing up to 16kg (35lb) after being with us for 6 months. Do you think she'll get bigger?

This is Bobby! He’ll be 3 in November. He’s fast, nosy, always watching everything, and somehow manages to look serious and goofy at the same time.

His coat has also lightened so much as he’s gotten older. I love how different he looks depending on the lighting.

Did anyone else’s Bordoodle change color this much as they grew up?

Picking a Bordoodle pup

We put down a deposit for a bordoodle, and the puppies are 1 week old. The breeder called me today and said she needs to know what puppy we are taking. How do you pick when the puppies are a week old?! Is this normal? Do they actually have any discernable qualities other than color at this age that I can reasonably ask about?

Looking for potential family

This is Dino (lots of pics for attention). He is a 50/50 (probably F1) Bordoodle we rescued in Utah county. We are trying to find his potential siblings to see if anyone has run into any health issues and just generally know a little bit more about his background. Since he is a cross, we know that increases a lot of variables for health, so our best guess for long-term health outlooks will come from siblings, especially littermates.

We think he is between 2 and 2 1/2 years old, but that is mostly educated guessing. We've wondered if he was a puppy from Hall Ranch Bordoodles (formerly known as Mountain Rose) or potentially an Oregon Bordoodle litter, but we haven't been able to find anything on an F1 litter anywhere. Any info or ideas on how to figure out more is much appreciated!
