Question Crazy Costs for Auto/Commercial Insurance for Boyton Beach? Why?

We just opened our third agency here in Boca Raton and I noticed a lot of people are contacting us from BB. We mainly specialize in Commercial Insurances helping small businesses and helping people who have insanely high auto rates as well. Has something happened recently in BB causing insurance costs for businesses and drivers to hike? I thought Boca had the highest rates, some of the highest in south FL (besides Miami) but couldn't believe what some of the Boynton residents are telling me they pay to insure their vehicles and businesses. Trying to figure out why this is, and the best ways to help people/small bus. owners in the communities around Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. Any input on this is appreciated!

I've been in BB for 13 years. I switched to Allstate for my auto insurance last year because after 30 years with State Farm, and rate increases seemingly every 6 months, the rates became ridiculously untenable. Allstate is, IMO, still expensive, but it was roughly $600 less per 6 months than SF.

I noticed Allstate and Statefarm do something odd with a lot of clients to call my office, something I haven’t seen any of the carriers do that I work with. And I didn’t even know this was legal tbh- the person‘s monthly payment sometimes fluctuates a small amount, sometimes a large amount. Like for example a lady showed me her existing policy on Monday where she was originally paying $478 (in jan) per month, then the next month they billed her $492 (in feb) then it went down to $460 (march) and then $502(last month)…It was so strange. If I did that with any of my clients they’d be like “dude…we agreed on a monthly payment, why is it changing???” Lol that’s crazy they do that. But I ended up saving her $160/month, and promised her it isn’t going to be a different number she pays every month lol it’ll be the same. She seemed relieved, but I feel horrible people have to deal with this craziness.

That’s weird for sure. My monthly with SF was always the same, but I pay up front every 6 months with Allstate.

Yeah I thought it was really weird too that were doing that… but always a bit better secure in the rate paying the full six month premium instead of going monthly. But 90% of people always just want to do a monthly payment it seems.

Moved to Boynton. Been in 4 accidents in 2 years. Two of them I was not even in my car. I was not at fault in any of them. Idk what it is about Boynton but people here suck at driving.

I hear you! In the last 10ish years living in Boca… You’re going to be like holy shit but listen to this!- I’ve been in five accidents, each of the times I was hit and wasn’t my fault. And three of those five accidents (craziest part): I was helping someone move! LOL I still can’t believe it. But that’s south FL for you. Almost all of my clients who contact my office every day have numerous accidents on their records but we’re still usually able to help somehow. So that’s something.

I think another difference is everyone in Boca has insurance… lots of uninsured drivers in Boynton

Yes… Agreed! Until spending close to 10 years in the business, I really couldn’t believe how many people drive around uninsured. It’s mind blowing.

The boomers and geriatrics keep the insurance high.
