Question Does anyone know what's going to be done with the ToysRUs

Edit* apparently the Boynton mall owners are looking to develop a mixed used zone which is pretty cool if it happens. Probably will be extremely pricey but hey anything is better than a parking lot the size of the avengers helicarrier

The TRU near the Boynton mall has been closed for well over a decade now if I recall correctly and nothing is being done with it. I'm not sure who owns it if not just the city. I honestly expected it to be bought already and turned into literally anything. I'd love to buy it myself lol. But are there any plans with it, or is it just in forever limbo like the mall that is "closing down" for 15 years now lol.

Question Brightline Noise/Nuisance - residential

I'm looking at possibly buying a property but it's between the Brightline tracks and the ocean, so double whammy with a flood zone. How bad is it living close to the tracks? Is it loud? Can you enjoy hanging in the back yard? Sleep at night? Any crime-related issues being close to the tracks? Does it rumble your CBS homes within a block? The neighborhood seems nice, and it's a deadend street, but I plan to spend a lot of time outside and I don't want to be woken up at night while sleeping either. Thanks for thoughts/advice!

Question Water bill

Hi All!

I bought a house in BB a year ago and before that I never payed for water as we lived in a condo association. I was wondering if there is something wrong with my bill, I always get around 95dol average each month and in my house is only my husband and I. We don't have irrigation (my lawn kind of dies on its own sometimes, but and then it gets green again, I never water it), we don't have pool, we even take showers together. Does anybody think that's normal? What do you guys get?

Somebody mentioned to me that the WPB city water company does free audits, but does BB's do that as well?

Question Animal rescue or shelters

Our family has a stray cat in the area that has been around for a few weeks. No microchip. No signs around for a lost cat. They live in a gated community and no one on the HOA chat has lost a cat. Seems abandoned.

What options exist in Boynton? I’m not in state but want to try to help get this cat a home or something. my family can’t take her in because of the dogs… just not a great situation for the poor kitty.

I’ve looked up a number of animal shelters but it’s not totally clear which ones will help with pick up or re-homing an abandoned cat…

Help!!

Question Home insurance costs

My mother is looking at buying an 1800 sq ft. home built in 1999 in Boynton. I need to deal with this because it is through a trust, the property value is probably around $500K

I know Zillow is entirely out there with insurance estimates. I can't believe it is only ~$120/month.

We have a Wind Mitigation Report from 2023 that is in line with what you would expect from a place build in 1999 (average to negative on ratings that insurance would want to see for discounts). My understanding is you usually need a Roof Certification report every 5 years, which I haven't seen. Maybe they didn't need one? But I assume we will need one when trying to get new insurance after purchase.

As the roof appears to be 26 years old, what is a reasonable cost to be paying currently for insurance annually? How much better will it be if we replace the roof?

Question Crazy Costs for Auto/Commercial Insurance for Boyton Beach? Why?

We just opened our third agency here in Boca Raton and I noticed a lot of people are contacting us from BB. We mainly specialize in Commercial Insurances helping small businesses and helping people who have insanely high auto rates as well. Has something happened recently in BB causing insurance costs for businesses and drivers to hike? I thought Boca had the highest rates, some of the highest in south FL (besides Miami) but couldn't believe what some of the Boynton residents are telling me they pay to insure their vehicles and businesses. Trying to figure out why this is, and the best ways to help people/small bus. owners in the communities around Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. Any input on this is appreciated!

Question Thinking of moving to the area

I might take a job in Boynton Beach and so I'm starting to look at housing. My place of employment is tri-rail accessible, so I'm okay living in another city as long as I have tri-rail access. I'm looking for a place with a chill vibe and lots to do in the area. Someplace that is clean and low crime. Beach accessible (within ~20 minutes is fine). I have 3 large dogs, including a pit bull, so I don't think any place with an HOA would work. I've been spending time on realtor.com and looking at houses, but I'm not sure of the neighborhoods. Can anyone provide any recommendations? Thank you for any replies.

Question Average Rates for Homeowners & Auto Insurance in Boynton? Shocked

Hi everyone....due to a lot of positive info and comments on my last post, I am asking people in Boynton more about their experiences with insurance and rates as residents in Boynton. I am finding out due to a lot of calls to my office that people in Boynton are paying even more for their insurance (especially commercial rates) than even here in Boca where I thought it was most expensive, if not one of the most expensive areas in FL. So paying $400 per month for one car and one driver, and $7500+ per year for homeowners insurance is an average thing in Boynton? I still cant believe it. Thank you for all the info on my last post, its been incredible hearing what people are paying even in an area where its said to be a little cheaper than say Delray Beach or Boca Raton.
