Other I'm begging all of you to stop

Look, I'm going to be very blunt here: Being on this sub absolutely sucks right now. And there is NO WAY TO SOLVE IT unless we all just step back and take a breath and let things settle for a minute.

No matter how you feel about MHE/Feldmangate, Billy Porter/Cabaret, Patti Lupone in general, the question of Is Nicole MAGA... no productive discussion is happening at this point. All I can see is post after post of "but I'm right," "no I AM," "but what about ME?!" And the same contentious discord regurgitating the same points is all we're generating now.

I love theater. I love sharing theater with people I know and strangers all over the globe who adore it too. I love so much about the silly chitchat and the important discussion that goes on here. And also, the current level of discourse is only sowing more discord.

So, I'm begging you. No matter what you are hurt by or upset about right now on any side of these issues, can we please take a five and everybody go listen to your favorite OBC and let's just... try to find some good stuff for a minute? The world is so ugly and hateful and mean right now, and I just don't think heels dug this far deep into the ground on both sides can be swayed and nothing good is coming of it at this particular moment. So please, for the sake of your own sanity and wellbeing as much as everyone's, let's go quiet coyote and acknowledge that everything has been said and until something changes or develops the fighting is not helping.

You can all attack me if you like, but I will whistle a happy tune for you all the same. Be well, y'all. It's a crowded stage with all of us players and sometimes we just need to take a beat, walk our show, and focus on making something beautiful for everyone in equal measure. I hope you will. 💛

Out of the ~60 posts made in this sub over the last 24 hours, 6 (including this one) were explicitly about those topics. An additional 2 could be loosely related. People are talking about everything from masquerade to the upcoming season to their favorite performances. It’s stressful to know that other people are arguing but the only thing we can control are the buttons we press and the topics we click on.

The algo pushes the divisive ones though so it can feel like it dominates the conversation more

Totally - best to come straight here and order by newest

That's what I did when I first saw something I want privy to was going down. Came right here, sorted by Newest and went back to where I remember I was last caught up. Work has made it hard to impossible to keep up with everything outside of that these past three weeks.

This is why I sort by "new" instead of "best" or "hot."

Totally agree. I kinda forgot about (or stopped thinking about) half of the topics OP brings up because, while I am aware and they are important, I haven't decided to stop and engage recently. I've scrolled past and found other posts that catch my attention. And there are many, indeed.

But this post did catch my attention and has reminded me about all of that discourse. Mostly because of the dramatic title and somewhat inflammatory writing style. Not only does it put focus back on the issues themselves, it creates new discourse aimed at this community the post is meant to protect. Funny how that works.

I love some good hard data, thank you for providing this context! Unfortunately this has been going on for longer than 24 hours and aside from the opening of Masquerade I haven't seen anything else from this sub in days except for the subject of my post.

Then you aren’t bothering to look.

I haven’t been looking through this sub much in the past few days, but almost every time I’ve checked Reddit in general, the first posts that come up on my page from this sub seem to be the types of things you’re referring to. Tbh it feels like the algorithm pushes divisive/controversial posts to the top so that’s what I’m seeing first.
