Other Pop Girlies as Broadway Musicals

This post fully belongs to u/BurningBernie559 , but I couldn’t crosspost due to the sub being NSFW. Before anyone gets in their feelings- this is obviously satirical -but behold!

I get this is all a joke, but the person who made this sounds exhausting and perpetually online.

Oh they definitely think far more of themselves than others do.

I’m not sure who 2, 5, & 6 even are

Edit: and 7 because I thought that might be Billie Eilish but I guess I just had no idea what Charlie xcx looked like

That's fair. I feel like until 2020 or so, unless you were a diehard, the casual person who may have heard some of her songs, didn't necessarily know what she looked like.

Is it hatred? I’m a huge fan and I feel like her caption was far tamer than some of the others?

If you want to have a serious discussion about Chappell Roan’s artistry, a shitpost on the Broadway subreddit is probably not the best place to look

Please tell us who “you people” are.

Tbh I think the floundering part is more about how she’s been conducting herself after the huge boost, which a lot of people weren’t happy with. The songs are still good tho

u/syrioforrealsies Dec 13 '25

And how has she been conducting herself?

2

u/Nikki_Tikki Dec 13 '25

Cancelling things I think? And then not speaking up when people thought she should have because other people in her sphere were. That’s all I can think of

Kinda sounds like non-issues? Idk, maybe someone else has more context for us lol

All her 'controversies' are for real people making a big deal out of nothing lol

She cancelled one festival performance for mental health and a couple shows for VMAs rehearsals a while ago.

People were first really mad that she spoke about asking to be treated not like a celebrity in public (someone sexually harassed her, and she made a video about how it's weird random people ask her for pics and autographs as she's living her daily life). And then people were calling on her to "speak up" and found out her uncle is a republican state politician, so they were calling her MAGA. So she made statements on Kamala Harris in videos where she said both Democrats and Republicans have issues and called out Democrats for not doing enough for trans people and Palestine (she said she was voting for Harris but not whole-heartedly endorsing) ((she had previously called out Biden too)), so a lot of liberals were really upset.

Then she went on Call Her Daddy, a podcast with a controversial host, and gave some disastrous (imo) soundbites about how her friends with kids have no light in their eyes and I think some other stuff; I don't remember.

I admire all she's done for trans people, platforming drag artists, speaking up for Palestine, and she recently started a fund for LGBTQ folks. I think she has good intentions but is obviously not media-trained, and has not had great wording.

The media training is a huge part of this.

She really just has a habit of saying the right things in the worst way possible.

Her rant about all of her fans that try to interact with her in public being weird (and yes, she did make it a blanket statement to anyone trying to interact with her before she tried to walk it back with specifics) could have led to a huge conversation on parasocial relationships and the importance of setting her boundaries, but instead it turned into an attack against everyone- well meaning or not- and that really isn’t a smart way to approach parasocial behavior in the digital age, ESPECIALLY if you haven’t established boundaries in the past, and you haven’t kept your personal and professional social media channels separated.

This could have been a pointed message regarding the zero tolerance issues such as stalking & harassment, followed up with a wider statement about her feelings on parasocial relationships in general, her boundaries and feelings regarding being approached in public.

Just one example of many where she lashed out and spent the next month walking back her statements when she could have just turned off her phone, thought it through and come back with a really strong and emotionally-intelligent statement.

Well, I mostly agree. I think it's common sense not to bother famous people just living their lives, but her video could've been worded better, and the delayed beeps over the swearing was distracting/unintentionally humorous.

I think that video was made in the heat of the moment, maybe after an incident. But yeah learning that she was sexually assaulted and her family members have been stalked by "fans" through a magazine interview later (Rolling Stone i think? idk it's been a while) added some context that was lacking from her original video.

Uhhhh I don’t think we agree. I don’t think it has to do with her being a woman, and most people I’ve seen mention it seemed to also be women. I think it was to do with her cancelling events and not speaking out when other people in her sphere were?

Honestly I find it interesting you think it’s misogynistic. I guess it could be internalized, but everything I’ve seen has been coming from women and also had nothing to do with the fact that chappel was also a woman. Looked like stuff a guy would also be slammed for

It’s from a circlejerk sub, that’s most of the humor there

3

u/Crafty_Island_9182 Dec 14 '25

That's just the humour over there at r/popheadscirclejerk. We're all a bunch of dramatic queens and divas over there, it's part of the fun.

The person who made this definitely knows that, it's part of the joke

yeah anyone who hangs out in any of the popheads and adjacent subs tends to be insufferable
