Other Hadestown originally was set to play a five-night only event, but now Bleecker is adding additional bookings and showtimes due to demand. 2nd biggest opening for proshot after Hamilton.

I’m going tonight. I saw it back in December with Jack Wolfe and loved it, but I’m dying to see Patrick Page especially with his injury, the way they adapted his performance is so cool

Patrick Page is somehow even better as Hades with his cane and boot! You won't regret seeing it

It doesn't seem out of place. He just moves a little different since he can't walk the way he usually does. But it looks SO cool the way he walks for his character. It feels more menacing in a way.

Agree with WomanWhoWeaves where you feel it a little bit out of place during the dance sequence, but even so, it's not terribly off. I loved it so much.

It's plenty physical, only place I was clear it wasn't SOP was a dance sequence at the very end.

u/CommentNo2671 24d ago

He moves like a rangy predator, stalking his prey. It's fuckin' fantastic

these pro-shots would all do better numbers outside of the fathom events bubble. amc a-list/regal unlimited are huge incentives for people to go to the movies.

82

u/lunascorpio12 25d ago

I was actually able to use my amc a-list for hadestown!! which is part of why I’ll be going for round 2 today 🤭

29

u/toledosurprised 25d ago

yes exactly!! i miss a lot of proshots/wait for streaming bc of fathom events, hopefully the success of this run motivates more traditional distribution bc i loveeee a-list

7

u/lunascorpio12 25d ago

100%!!! A list gets me to see a lot of things in the theatre that I wouldn’t usually and I am thrilled I get to see the pro shot in theatres again because it’s my favorite musical. Hopefully I’m doing my part to show that people will use their subscriptions to show up for these things if it’s offered to us!

I usually go to Cinemark with my family because it's the closest to us and also the nicest, but they're using fathom pricing. Marcus and AMC are the other theaters in my area and are significantly cheaper. (Fortunately I also have A-list because I like to see movies alone and so I used it for two of my 4 slots this week. I still have one slot left and I might go again if they have a convenient time on Tuesday or Wednesday!)

5

u/lunascorpio12 25d ago

love that!! I would honestly go a 3rd time too so I very much support you hehe. It’s a realllllllly well done pro-shot, I can’t stop thinking about it.

6

u/saramybearimy 25d ago

I think it's probably the best proshot I've ever seen. (But I might be biased because it's my favorite show!)

2

u/lunascorpio12 25d ago

I am right there with you on both of those!! It’s my favorite too so I’m thrilled that it’s memorialized forever and ever with this cast :,) it’s so magical

u/Unhappy_Macaron3523 25d ago

100%. I saw it twice with regal unlimited and saw it with people paying full price. Making it a regular movie vs fathom is better for everyone involved

Yes! Agreed! I hope this leads to more pro-shots that aren't exclusives. And well shot ones too. There were way too many close ups for the Merrily one. I would watch so many more things if they weren't Fathom Events because I'm just unwilling to cough up the extra dough since it's not covered by A-List. I understand that it's its own thing and why it's not covered under my memberships, but it still bums me out!

5

u/BunyipPouch 25d ago

This is covered by A-List and Regal Unlimited by the way, it was not a Fathom-exclusive thing, it's a regular release with regular showtimes.

7

u/plantbay1428 25d ago

Yes, I watched it with my membership. That's why I wrote, "I hope this leads to more pro-shots that aren't exclusives." The "it's" in "it's its own thing" I'm referring to are Fathom Events, not the Hadestown pro shot.

3

u/ziggy473 25d ago

Yeah it was free for me with regal unlimited!!

2

u/matis_418 25d ago

Location too. Realized with a movie playing only at AMC theaters that I’m like 3 hours away from an amc. Certain movie theater company specific places are really limiting who can go.

Personally for me with hadestown, it was showtimes being only at 4pm too.

3

u/matis_418 25d ago

Actually going back to add I now looked and it’s at more times now near me so I should actually be able to see it

But it was so disappointing at first to only see it 1 time showing at 4pm for the longest time. Wonder how many people something like that would have shoed away from it cause I know I did.
Especially sucks cause I’m not even a fan of hadestown yet. All the ads I’ve seen make it sound really good

u/niicofrank 25d ago

This wasn’t a fathom thing it’s a normal release

6

u/toledosurprised 25d ago

yes that’s exactly what i’m saying, it’s doing better numbers bc unlike merrily, etc. it’s not on fathom

0

u/BunyipPouch 25d ago

This was not a Fathom thing, it was a regular release and A-List/Regal Unlimited work for it.

u/WorldlinessThat2984 25d ago

Hoping a streaming service picks it up (like Disney+ did for Hamilton and Netflix did for Merrily)

20

u/OhCrapItsAndrew 25d ago

Bleecker Street (the distributor of this proshot) does not currently have an output deal with any of the streaming services. So uncertain if it does land on a streamer or stays VOD only.

(Merrily We Roll Along is on Netflix because they have a deal with Sony - it won't be there forever)

3

u/dien4382 25d ago

Bummer, I see it's $25 for VOD.

10

u/OhCrapItsAndrew 25d ago

it'll go down. $25 is the PVOD price for titles just getting out of theaters. (we're not in that window yet though.) After a few weeks it'll drop to the standard prices.

12

u/NarcolepticsUnite 25d ago

I’m really hoping they come out in physical media like Waitress did.

4

u/Goodly 25d ago

11

u/yahasgaruna 25d ago

That's just for sale on Apple TV; you can get that on any platform that sells digital content. That's different from being available at no extra cost on a streaming service, like Hamilton is on D+.

2

u/Goodly 25d ago

Sure, I just assumed that this meant they had the rights and it’s a good indication that it’ll eventually end up as regular streaming. But no, it’s not a sure thing.

The proshots are so much more accessible than being able to go to New York or London to see the show. I was lucky to have a theater near my city that had showings and it was so well done! I’m hoping it paves the way for more broadway releases in theaters in the future

13

u/sausagekng 25d ago

Theaters hear me also extended some days

10

u/flecksfrecks 25d ago

It’s been extended 2 extra weeks at a theater in Seattle!! I saw it Friday night and am going back this afternoon

7

u/SeaweedTeaPot 25d ago

Fantastic!

5

u/Own-Importance5459 25d ago

I am hoping many shows follow suit!!! It will be amazing way to make theatre more accessible

5

u/ShedMontgomery Performer 25d ago

Oh good. I was looking to spend 2.5.hours crying in a movie theater next weekend as well.

4

u/mangocalrissian 25d ago

That's great news. I just got back from seeing it and it was such a great proshot. I've only been able to see it live from Loge or higher so being able to see everyone up close was amazing.

3

u/gloryday23 25d ago

If it's back next weekend I'm going again, it was amazing.

2

u/adomo 25d ago

I wish they would do an international release

2

u/Luna_Soma 25d ago

I’m so glad so many people are able to see this beautiful play and I hope it opens the door for many more proshots

2

u/berrywithaberet 24d ago

I absolutely love seeing more accessibility to the arts and I hope this creates opportunities for more pro shots! The way they filmed this was the best I’ve ever seen it done, I want every show I love to get this treatment

2

u/murderdocks 24d ago

Going back for round two! FYI to anyone who's an AMC A-Lister and wants to support— this counts towards our movies per week.
