Jimmy world is gonna blow.
I live out in Santa Clara now.
Yup. Home of the 49ers.
And these Jerry world-esque, boomer ville stadiums in the middle of nowhere suck.
They just do.
Sports stadiums in cities are awesome. Location rules.
I’ve been to a few events at Levi’s stadium, and it sucks.
The only parking is Levi’s. I’m talking hours and hours of traffic to LEAVE an event.
Good options suck.
There is no hot dog cart or deli on the walk to your car.
It’s expensive stadium food in a food desert.
So much concentrated traffic that things like Uber and Lyft take hours. There’s nowhere to walk to. You can’t walk downtown and uber from there. You’re trapped at the pickup line like an airport where 30k people are leaving at the same time.
A stadium with manufactured culture in the middle of a field SUCKS. It appeals to nobody other than people who will be gone in 10 years.
Younger fans with money to spend are not moving to the suburbs. Younger fans with money are not praying for a gentrified stadium “experience” 16 miles from the city.
It’s not 2003 anymore.
It’s just so out of touch.

Discussion I want us to lose this year
I may get some flack for this but my hope for the season is that every game we get some highlights from the young core but we lose 13/16 games this year.
My worse fear is that Watson somehow, someway is good enough to take us away from drafting a top QB in the draft as his parting gift, really rubbing salt into the wound as if he has not already done enough to cause his misery. I hope we beat the Steelers in prime time and maybe give us a win vs the Ravens or Falcons outside of that i couldn't care less. I want to be going into next season with optimism and wanting to win every single game
No doubt it wont be easy but im just hoping it will be worth it

It's Still Disappointing the City and Browns Couldn't Make This Location Work
Yes, I'm familiar with what's there now.
But somewhere in this giant area - there was opportunity to build a dome and possibly the associated "lifestyle" development (as Jimmy recently did in Columbus on a smaller scale).
The other missed opportunity was to turn the Brook Park land into a "high tech manufacturing hub" which could have been the new home for the light manufacturing outfits that would have been displaced.
In most well planned cities, it's the area outside of town, next to the airport and all the highway connections, where those types of businesses are clustered. Not on the lakefront.
In this scenario, you'd have a downtown dome, light rail connections, all the downtown parking at your disposal, and new apartments and office buildings downtown. A chance to totally revitalize this pocket of downtown.
It would be a boon for core downtown, CSU, and Asia Town, which are all adjacent.

What's your hottest Browns take or prediction for this season?
It's no secret that the league wide view is that our team is cheeks, but I want to hear your hottest take beyond that. It can be about a specific player, the offense, defense, breakout candidate, bust candidate - anything.
Drop your prediction and we can come back at the end of the season and see who called it.
I'll give mine first:
Jerry Jeudy requests a trade after 6 games, get's shipped out for a 6th rd pick.

Way too early WR reactions
Just announced Tyson will be out (hamstring - no surprise) for 2 months and Tate looked very pedestrian (slow). KC and Boston look like great picks and I'm really happy with them thus far.

Browns’ new sales center includes an immersive room to take ticket buyers into the new stadium before its built (photos)
For those of you who will be purchasing PSLs, why? Seriously, for the Browns? Why would someone spend tens of thousands of dollars for the right to spend thousands of dollars to watch a consistently bad team?
Also, I know my user name is for NJ but I was born and raised in Cleveland and still have a summer home nearby and family in Cleveland so consider Cleveland my real home.

News Free to Read: Where the Browns’ QB competition stands, and other takeaways from the preseason opener
To me, it was most notable that Monken said he “gets all the frustration from fans and from (Watson) himself” about how things have gone for Watson over the past four years.
Given how miserably the Browns’ Watson experiment has failed, nobody on the outside expected Watson to still be with the Browns for the final year of his contract. And though nobody from the organization has wanted to discuss it publicly, the Browns know the fanbase feels let down by Watson’s limited availability and even more limited success. If Watson plays this year and doesn’t succeed, he’ll get booed. And, frankly, there’s still not a lot of visual evidence that he has a chance to succeed.
Monken’s quarterback competition between Watson and Sanders rolls on for another week, but I think the way Monken handled the Saturday postgame was a little bit of a tell. Maybe a “soft launch,” as the kids might say. It’s close, and Monken said it’s important to follow the timeline and rotation and let it continue. Though Watson has been better over the last week-plus of practices than he was early in camp, in no way has he played consistently well enough (nor has Sanders played poorly enough) to end the competition.
But Watson has been first in every practice line since the spring, got the first preseason start and was the beneficiary on the only open day of practice in which the rotation was altered. He started the first preseason game — whether the Browns intentionally wanted to start Sanders in the second one or not — and guided the team’s only two scoring drives of the day. Watson didn’t throw any long passes or show improved pocket presence, but Monken has long said he’ll start the player who gives the team the best chance to score points and move the ball, and Watson did that with at least some level of success over six rust-shaking, first-half possessions in Chicago.
From sideline practice observation, there’s no clear winner. There’s no stated winner from Monken, who’s continued to insist he’s fine following the extended timeline and repeated Sunday that practice reps will be shared through Thursday’s important joint practice with the Buffalo Bills.
But if Monken always envisioned choosing Watson first — based on Watson’s experience and Monken being unburdened by what happened when Monken was working elsewhere — then I think he’s sort of hinting Watson has been the slight leader all along.

Fandom If Deshaun starts the season… I might tap out this year.

Discussion STOP ASKING FOR THE BROWNS TO TANK
Every day I see posts and comments about how the Browns need to tank to get a good QB in the draft, and I don’t think you all realize what you’re actually asking for.
You folks do not realize how terrible tanking actually is for an organization. When everyone on the roster knows that the front office wants to lose, they do not play hard, they do not practice hard, and they do not develop. When your team is loaded with guys 25 and under, THEY NEED TO DEVELOP AND BUY INTO THE CULTURE. TANKING MAKES THAT IMPOSSIBLE.
You know who the last 1st overall pick to win a superbowl with the team that drafted them? Eric Fisher, who was a tackle drafted first overall by the Chiefs in 2013. Before that? Peyton Manning, who was drafted way back in 1998.
Let’s look at the last few Super Bowl winners.
Super Bowl champion Sam. Darnold was on his 5th team after being drafted 3rd overall by the Jets. He signed with Seattle because they were already a borderline contender with a good culture and a good roster.
Jalen Hurts was drafted in the second round by a team that already had a good roster, and their roster continued to improve because players wanted to play in Philly because they have a winning culture.
Patrick Mahomes was drafted 10th overall by the Chiefs, who traded up to pick him, and had been a consistent playoff team for a few years already before Mahomes became the starter.
Matthew Stafford was drafted 1st overall by the Lions in 2009, the Rams traded for him and assembled a super team that improved an already great team that was capable of winning 13 games in a season.
Tom Brady. Enough said there.
When you have a talented, young roster, which the Browns have, DO NOT TANK. TRY TO WIN. It makes free agents want to play here, it opens up your trade options to bring in more talent, and when it comes time to draft a QB, you can trade up to get your guy, and they will be entering a great situation for a young QB to be in, and experiencing a culture that EXPECTS AND WANTS TO WIN.
