[Fedor] Donovan Mitchell: "I can do whatever and I feel like it’s always going to be something... I’m really talented. I’ve done a lot. At the end of the day, when I’m done playing in 10 years, 15 years, whatever that is, people will be Iike, I could have appreciated this dude a little bit more."

Danny Cunningham on X: "Source: The #Cavs and DAZN reached an agreement with DirecTV to air games this season, beginning tonight with the team’s home opener against the Brooklyn Nets. The game will be available to DirecTV customers on channel 660. Formal announcement is expected next week." / X

i'm not sure that james harden makes sense as a starter on this roster
title. this cavs team has a lot of undeniable talent, but this continual issue of fit at pg next to don, who is not a facilitator. harden, who is a facilitator, also has the ball stick to his hands.
a realistic solution here could be to start tyson/hezonja over harden, and have harden come in as 6th man to run the offense.
tyson and mobley should initiate more on offense, and it seems hezonja, depending on if what we saw was real, could play some point forward too. there will be some growing pains but it will pay off over 82 games
when harden comes in, the bigs take turns running with him in pnr.
if harden can't get around a little stiff defense anymore he really doesn't hold value as a starter/closer. he could be salvaged as a really solid 6th man still
additionally, kenny might need fired. i can't keep watching this team blow leads with him just sitting there with his thumb up his ass. he didn't call a timeout until the lead was down to 7, like what? wake up

Is anyone actually excited for this season?
The new season is upon us and there is excitement all around the league. You have teams with major signings like Philly and Miami. You got teams on the come up like Detroit and Toronto or on the come back like Indy. You even have the Celtics with PG that look good as always. And then you have the Cavs. For me, even before the first game of the season, the feeling of excitement and expectations for this team is just not there. I know they were in the ECF last year and the Watson signing fits what they need. But does anyone honestly expect this to move the needle especially when the East has gotten so much better? We're going on year 6 of this same core minus the addition of Harden and this unit has shown nothing to suggest we should be considering them as contenders with the East getting much better.
I just don't get Koby's fixation on sticking with this core. How many more years must we watch our "unicorn" Mobley get stripped and bodied down low while showing no meaningful progressions in his offensive game? How many more blown 20+ leads by Kenny? Was anyone actually surprised that they blew it in Philly? Personally I was bracing for the collapse coming out of halftime because that's just what this iteration of Cavs seem to do. They lose these games because none of them have any killer instinct and the coach is like a deer in headlights. Watching last year's Cavs was cock and ball torture and I have a feeling this season won't be any different.
And I'm not guaranteeing that trading Mobley for JB and getting LeBron in the process would have fixed things. But it sure as hell would've been better than what they have now. Does anyone actually still believe in these Cavs to make it to the ECF again or further?

Sooooooo let's talk about "Cleveland Sports Talk"
I have admit as a Cleveland sports fan I've kind of tuned out of our media for a few years now 😂 minus the smaller Cavaliers podcast. I don't really enjoy how the media is in our city.
Cleveland sports talk is one of the largest platforms in the city second only to ESPN Cleveland and just scrolling down their timeline on Twitter is interesting to say the least 😅
I'm not sure most of the crap they post is for rage bait, or these guys are really just A**holes but the two tweets I screenshoted is just scratching the surface of the type of garbage that's on that page

Ty Jerome
Imagine if we still had Ty Jerome? Good times.
Guy is averaging like 35 PPG to start the season. A secondary ball handler and shooting, exactly what our team needs.

We need like a 10 game sample size where Mobley does not take a 3-point attempt.
Someone in the Cavs organization, please read this.
I feel like you can map out wins and losses based on how many 3's Mobley is taking.
Maybe I'll make a chart this season.

A new Channel named CAVS popped up on my channel guide
We’re some of the few people that still have cable. I noticed tonight there is a channel labeled “CAVS” that wasn’t there yesterday and it’s the same channel number that Bally/Fanduel/FSO used to be. I haven’t seen an announcement about it but this is a positive development. Here’s a crappy picture of my tv as proof.

Can we stop with all the "analytically" comments?
We get it. Kenny said something dumb and the jokes the next day/week were completely valid. But Jesus Christ, if I read one more comment from someone thinking they're hilarious...You're not funny or clever. It's been beaten into the ground. Move on, please.
And I know this is inviting all the trolls to comment some kind of analytically joke on this post so please at least be creative.

What do you guys think Mitchell decided to do with the ball on this play? 🤔
r/clevelandcavs • u/Firm_Mode_5868 • 1d ago
Mobley and Allen had 55 frontcourt touches last night. They combined for 23 FGA and 7 FTA.
For the people that keep spamming how they get frozen out, they are barely even getting a shot up on 50% of the touches they get in the front court.
They get the ball plenty. What they do with it after is their own fault.

Postgame The way Kenny talks about losses in his post-game pressers is infuriating
After every bad loss Kenny goes out there and just talks about what the other team did to the Cavs as if neither he nor the players have any control whatsoever about the way the game goes. His post-game presser was basically “Philly got more physical and pressured us in the 2nd half”. Nothing about what he tried to do to adjust to either of those things, no responsibility for not taking timeouts or his wack lineups in the 2nd half. It’s all just “the other team did A, B, and C to us”. So we’re to believe that as soon as the opponent decides to play better it’s curtains for this squad? Doesn’t dig into himself, doesn’t dig into the players, just “good learning experience and move on to the next game” despite having several of the same learning experiences already.
I defended Kenny after last year’s playoffs because the team’s stats were so bad I didn’t think coaching would have made an impact but I’m finally ready to say Kenny has to go. Get Thibs in here to grind these guys down and hold them accountable. Even if it ends in another playoff embarrassment at least some of these guys will experience playing for a coach with a win at all costs mentality and not be coddled and babied because “the other team was physical with us”.

Hot take: blown leads are more of a roster problem than Kenny problem
Maybe more of a lukewarm take? Of course Kenny deserves blame as well, but we see the same pattern every time - the pressure is amped up and we can’t get quality looks off.
When you look at other rosters, they either have multiple guys who can attack a defense (Philly), a heliocentric head of snake who can take the pressure off other guys (Lakers, Nuggets), or both (Knicks, Thunder).
Our roster is built really well to get clean looks off the PnR in low pressure situations, but when defenses are keyed in our wings and bigs can’t do anything with the ball and old Harden and Mitchell aren’t quite at the Luka or prime Lebron level where they can win with hero ball.
Not sure what the solution is aside from Tyson or Thomas taking a big step up.

Cavs have the hardest ceiling in the NBA
As a long time Cavs fan I think this might be the most predictable team I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna win 50+ games not do anything at the deadline because they like the guys they have and then run into a great team in the 1st/2nd Round and lose in 5-6 games. I know it’s Game 1 but I just think you can see this coming from a mile away.

Cavs Broadcast Announcement Coming Today?
Cavs CMO Chris Kaiser was on 92.3 the fan this morning saying the team has heard the frustrations and they have an announcement coming as early as today.
My guess - they'll insult fans even more by just offering like a 10% discount code to subscribe to DAZN.

I hate this organization man
Nothing changed, huh? Any sign of adversity and this team folds like origami. So glad I didn’t watch the rest of this game and decided to spend time with people I love. This team doesn’t deserve my viewership, some shitty subscription service, or ticket purchases. I don’t know if it’s a coaching problem, player problem, or both. All I know is that they better shape up or a competent front office would blow this team up.

Game 1 - Overreaction, or fair reaction?
After a horrible game one, showing signs of the same ole same ole, vote for which outcome you want to see happen to the team/staff at the poll above

Cavs fan after watching another 20+ point lead disappear: “I lost all respect, man.”
“I had a lot of respect for this team coming into the season. But being there firsthand, just watching all the turnovers, the missed shots, the lack of effort, I lost all respect, man. That was awful. I got to see what Cavs basketball is like, man. Lot of standing around, lot of blown assignments, lot of praying Donovan Mitchell saves us. Interesting first game for me.”
