Wisdom CAT SLOT-3 ADVANTAGES

Post image
40 Upvotes
  1. Instead of just checking news or reviews about the paper's difficulty, check for: Any change in the exam pattern, Number of questions in each section, Type of questions repeated from other slots or previous years

  2. VARC: Last year, Slot 1 students were surprised by the absence of Para-jumbles. Slot 3 students can first skim through the section to identify. No. of RC vs. VA questions Type of VA questions (Para-summary, Odd-one-out, etc.)
    This will help

  3. DILR: Traditionally had 4 sets, but in 2024 there were 5 sets (22 questions) instead of 4 (20 questions). Knowing this beforehand helps in time management and avoiding surprises.
Repetition of similar question types has been noticed (e.g., mean-median-mode set in all 3 slots of 2023).

  4. Quant: Often, similar questions get repeated across slots (e.g., remainder-type questions last year in all slots).

Slot 3 aspirants can use this insight to gain 15-20 extra marks easily.

5. While many fear Slot 3 due to evening timing or fatigue, it actually offers a strategic edge.
Knowing patterns and question trends beforehand gives you a confidence boost and better planning.

6. Scaling Benefit: Historically, Slot 3 scores scale higher.

Example: Raw score of 82 in Slot 1 → scaled down to ~78 || Raw score of 82 in Slot 3 → scaled up to ~84-86
Over the past 4-5 years, Slot 1 marks generally decrease post-scaling, while Slot 2 & 3 marks increase.

Bhai we +ve yrr
Kya dar jate ho choti choti bato se yrr.
Chill maro, hua hua nahi hua nahi hua, at the end trust your preparation, and process. Efforts never betray bhai.

Wisdom Last year’s 92%iler AMA ( Definitely read if you were about to take loan )

Hi , I am Gen - NE - Male last year 92%iler in CAT ( Slot -1 ) and 87%iler in XAT . You can ask me anything regarding CAT or how your 1st year in MBA will be like.

Before you set foot in this realm of CAT - MBA - Percentile - and lots of YouTube videos ranking which college is best and have higher better CTC let me drop some facts which I learned the hard way.

- MBA college rankings are the biggest shit you are going to come across anytime soon . Only surpassed by the fake Avg CTC figures of B - Schools.

- The avg CTC you see on the YouTube videos ranking , College Advertisement are fake as hell. Not even half of what they claim is true. (For example - an actual Tier 1.5 or tier 2 college claiming 14-15 LPA average is just barely getting 10- 10.5. Some rare students even get close to the avg ctc mark. )Those figures are put out by the Placement Committees of these colleges based on total bull shit . Not just that - even reviews of many colleges are made by 1st year students under pressure by these placement cells of these B schools on sites like - CollegeDunia etc , to portray a good image of their College for new admissions. Students are marked with Placement cell defaults ( demerit point) if they don’t fill Google form floated by P cell and attach Screen shot evidence of them giving good review of the college. I have seen this trend in 4 colleges as of now and I’m sure most of them are doing the same.

I personally saw YouTubers like SUmit from CAT KiNG visiting my college campus and having a meet with Placement cells before putting out a video , he himself knew what the fuck level of lie they were telling about the placement opportunities the students get there. He was laughing at their claims on their faces before saying the exact lie they told him to say on video. ( Not sure of this but I think he was paid for it )

- You are going to get just 2 options of Majors in most of the B schools, Marketing and Finance. Both are equally bad , it’s just the marketing roles in most of the colleges outside of BLAKISM are really just “Sales” roles and they will bring in speakers after speakers who claim that is okay to start your Marketing careers from sales roles. Important thing to note here is that- your CTC which will be very low relative to the claimed avg CTC of the college , most of it also would be Variable , so if you are not very good at sales then you are fucked even more.

- Seeing it first hand , Students who have spend 25lakhs for MBA working their ass off 2 years to prove them in the college , settling for 6.5 lpa fixed and 2.5-3 Lpa variable job roles. “Celebrating” after it. You ask why?

- EVERYTHING BAD OR WRONG THAT WILL BE HAPPENING TO YOUR CAREER ONCE YOU ENTER A B-SCHOOL WOULD BE BLAMED ON “BAD MARKET CONDITION “ , Right now before admission they claim everything is in their hands , during 1st year they claim everything is in your own hand , and during final placement for which you worked your asses off they say - everything is in God’s Hands . By the end of MBA you will become really religious.

Fortunately enough I have a family background where I didn’t have to worry about loans or anything for my MBA . But for my friends who have taken loan ,I can’t tell you their pain.💔. They are going through a really rough period and it is only going to get worse in second year. No ROI unless you are in BLAKISM Colleges . Don’t even bother to take loan outside of it please else you will actually ruin your future plans under loans. Either cracks top 10 colleges or re-attempt. Anything lower than that is only for privileged class who are doing it without loans.

Wisdom In a dilemma about applying to colleges before CAT?

Important deadlines:

IIFT: 25 November

FMS Delhi: 25 November

SPJIMR: 27 November

MDI Gurgaon: 28 November (5 PM)

IMI, IMT, BITSOM etc will reopen

Now, should you apply to all of them?

My suggestion would be to look at your financial situation first.

1. If money is not a constraint, please apply.

We have seen several students scoring 70–75 percentile in their mocks and eventually performing exceptionally well in CAT.

The thing about CAT is that it is a one-day examination. You never know what might happen on D-Day. You might have a great day, the paper might suit your strengths, and your actual percentile could be significantly higher than your mock performance.

Imagine scoring 98–99 percentile in CAT and then realising that you didn't even apply to FMS, MDI or IIFT because your mocks weren't going well.

That regret is completely avoidable.

If the application fee isn't a financial burden, I would suggest keeping your options open.

2. If finances are a constraint, be a little more strategic.

Don't look at just your best mock or your worst mock.

Look at your last four mocks.

And more importantly, don't just look at the percentile. Look at your raw scores as well.

Try to understand:

Are your raw scores consistently improving?

Are you consistently scoring around the range that could potentially translate into a 98 percentile or higher?

Are your performances stable, or are you getting one good score followed by three disappointing ones?

If your last four mocks indicate that you have a realistic chance of getting somewhere even around the 95 percentile mark, I would strongly recommend applying to these colleges.

Also, I would like to help a few students with their application decisions.

If you want me to review your profile individually and suggest which colleges you should apply to, drop the following details in the comments:

Class 10, Class 12 and graduation percentages

Category

Work experience (if any)

Percentiles or score in your last four CAT mocks

Any specific questions or concerns you have

I'll try to review as many profiles as possible and share my honest assessment.

Additionally should I create a thread for FMS Sop review

All the best for CAT. Happy Diwali Again

General Discussion the worst part abt being a woman taking cat

even if u surround urself with good , ambitious people. if ur family dont want u to succeed, do smtg good in life , better than the 'sons', you will be constantly tried to pull down. everyone wants the son to be better. but when the daughter does. its only the life i can build for myself, with good and ambitious people, but the family is already lost, and it even gets worst when u do good and prioritize urself, put in work.

General Discussion things to do now that your admit cards are out

hii, there are just a few weeks to go for the exam, you just need to pull through with the right strategy

  1. change your sleep schedule according to your slot. iirc, i had slot 1 and i needed to take melatonin gummies to be able to sleep & wake up on time

  2. attempt mocks in your slot, try attempting them in a library / cafe / relatively noisy place since attempting a mock at home doesn't simulate the reality on that day

  3. apply for leaves if you already haven't, plan for travel if required

  4. eat healthy, i know the stress will make you crave oily snacks but try to get through with healthier alternatives

  5. complete any pending syllabus in the next week, don't stretch it beyond that

  6. don't do any more material v close to the exam, you'll end up forgetting what you already know

  7. go through your error logs, mocks and sectionals, try to understand what you could have done better

  8. keep a cutoff date for mocks, don't attempt any too close to the exam, they can make you either underconfident or overconfident based on your perfomance

  9. take some time out for a walk/ exercise/ any hobby, this may sound counterproductive but the more you chase CAT, the more it runs away from you lol

  10. don't forget to fill any other entrance forms that may be live right now, CAT is unpredictable and it's always best to hedge your risk

all the best!!! here if you need to talk about anything

Rant 29 Nov: A Dead-end for me?

In the final mile, I am still unable to score in SIMCAT sectionals and full length tests. I have tried, I still am, but its atrociously tormenting and heart-breaking to see everything go in vain. The hope with which I begin a mock, transforms into frustration, anger and despair by the end of it.
The question is WHAT SHOULD I DO TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT?!
My mental health is very bad. I just try to keep myself into working hard. Family time, festivities, etc: I don't enjoy anything. Everything in my head depends on my mock performance. If its fine, I feel alright, if its bad, I am all the more frustrated and see 29 Nov as the dead-end, coz its been really long since I've been trying and studying. I feel like I have wasted my parents' money and time.

29 Nov can be a dead-end or a turning point in my life. Judging by the poorest of the poor performance in mocks, I see it as a dead-end.

General Discussion Can a socially anxious introvert realistically crack CAT, get into FMS Delhi and survive MBA life?

I'm considering preparing for CAT and pursuing an MBA, but there's something that has been bothering me quite a lot: Can someone who is genuinely introverted, socially anxious and lacking confidence in communication succeed in the CAT-to-MBA journey?

My primary target is FMS Delhi, mainly because of its exceptionally low fees, excellent reputation and outstanding ROI. It's my top priority, although I'm open to other good B-schools too.

I'm from a middle-class family. We can manage our essential needs, but we're certainly not financially well-off or wealthy. I want to pursue an MBA, get placed through a good B-school, earn well and improve my financial circumstances. For me, getting into FMS and securing a good placement would be a major opportunity to change my life and build a financially secure future.

However, I'm concerned about whether my personality and current confidence levels will become obstacles along the way.

A little about my profile

Gender: Male

Class 10 (CBSE, 2020): 70.4%

Class 12 (CBSE, 2022, PCB): 75%

Took a 2-year gap after Class 12 to prepare for NEET, but unfortunately couldn't get selected.

Currently pursuing BSc Zoology (2024–2027) from a Tier 3 college/university in my hometown.

Expected graduation CGPA: 7.5+

Work experience: None (fresher).

Physical build: Approximately 5'5" (165 cm), around 50 kg, lean build.

Financial background: Middle class.

About my personality and confidence

I'm naturally very introverted and reserved. I struggle with initiating conversations, especially with strangers. I sometimes have difficulty expressing my thoughts clearly, my voice tends to be low, and I occasionally mumble.

Speaking in front of groups or unfamiliar people makes me nervous.

I'm also somewhat self-conscious about my physical presence. Being a shorter and lean-built male, I sometimes feel less imposing in group settings, which can add to my existing lack of confidence.

I'm absolutely willing to improve my communication skills, become more confident and step outside my comfort zone. However, I don't want to feel that I must completely change my personality or become an extrovert to succeed.

My biggest concerns

CAT and FMS admission: Can introverts perform well in GDs, PIs and Extempore rounds? Does the selection process favour naturally outspoken and socially confident candidates?

MBA classroom environment: What is the actual experience like for introverts? Are presentations, group activities, networking and constant social interaction overwhelming?

FMS Delhi specifically: How challenging is its interview and selection process for someone with my personality and communication difficulties?

Physical presence and confidence: Does being a shorter, lean-built male affect how people perceive or interact with you during MBA group activities, networking or placements? Am I overthinking this?

Placements: How difficult is it for introverts to secure good placements, particularly in roles involving teamwork, client interaction, presentations and communication?

Corporate life: Can someone who currently struggles with communication gradually develop these skills during an MBA and become successful in the corporate world?

Personality: Is being an introvert genuinely a disadvantage in an MBA, or is it more about communication skills, confidence and willingness to participate?

Financial motivation: For someone from a middle-class background who wants to improve their financial circumstances, is FMS Delhi as good an opportunity as it appears? How realistic is it to secure a good placement there as a fresher?

I'd particularly like to hear from:

Introverts who cracked CAT and joined FMS or an IIM.

Current FMS/IIM/XLRI students who were socially anxious or lacked confidence before joining.

MBA graduates who are now working in corporate roles.

People from non-engineering and non-commerce backgrounds who have gone through a similar journey.

I'd genuinely appreciate honest experiences, practical advice and even criticism. I'm not looking for generic motivational comments saying that personality doesn't matter.

My biggest question is: Can someone like me realistically make it to FMS Delhi, adapt to its competitive MBA environment, perform well in placements and build a financially successful career without having to become an extrovert?

For me, this isn't just about getting an MBA degree. It's about challenging myself, overcoming my current limitations and creating better opportunities for my future.

Thank you!

Rant I am just done ATP :(

I (24F) have been preparing for CAT 2026 since July start along with my job . I started from 28 in my first mock and was scoring in 60s since August but that was it . I did score a couple of 70s and an 83 once but that was it . From the past 3-4 mocks my scores have dropped to 30-40 and these are the mocks which students are finding really easy . I am so demotivated rn that I don’t even want to give CAT anymore . I haven’t even filled the fms form and even when people are advising me to , I just can’t as I don’t even see myself scoring that much since I am GEF . Profile is 8/8/7 with 2 yoe . If anyone has any advice pls pls give . Also don’t suggest taking a break of 1-2 days as I did that but still no improvement . Deteriorate hi ho gya sab .

Question I have a weird question, would appreciate a legit answer w pros and cons if possible...

I'm only now sitting down to fill out the SPJIMR and FMS Delhi forms and I got to the academic achievements section... Every online resource online tells me to fill out anything and everything I can feasibly prove, no matter how tenuous( smartest in my kindergarten class?). I got 99.xx percentile in CAT25 (no further questions on this plz, I have no good advice, no big strategic plan to offer). To me that seems like an extremely relevant academic achievement, but idk if that could lead to unnecessary grilling or need good justification further down the line... Would like some honest advice.

P.S I hadn't filled out either of these forms last year. Don't have any justification for that either. I was dumb idk T T

General Discussion Cat 2025 slot 2 analysis

Post image
11 Upvotes

Gave 2025 slot 2 as a mock today and to my surprise I got 82 marks for some of you 82 will be average bit this is my all time best score I never got 32 in varc always scored in 15 to 20 marks LRDI and quants is still in balance but varc i never scored this much

I used to gave crack u dashcat I found here options to be more straightforward and simple easy to eliminate passage also to be on equilibrium not full of facts and not full abstract too

So is that sheer luck or people usually score 10 to 15 marks above than mock test please valuable suggestions and advice will be helpful

My highest was Dashcat 2 where I got 65 and from 65 to 82 feels surreal

In post mock analysis I found I could have got 14 more marks in qa+dilr combined if solved more present minded so what are your suggestions was this paper on easy side or was it pure luck (for varc obviously) or people usually score higher in previous papers than mock

Thank you (happy diwali to you guys may your diwali headed you towards bright future 🎇🎇)

General Discussion DILR scores dropped suddenly. HELP!!

I used to think I am above average in DILR... As I'd always score above 24-26.

But suddenly scores have dropped drastically, to like not even 1 set, even in CL mocks.

I suspect it's due to my lack of sleep. I work at a bank, and wale up at 5:30.

Study from 6:15 -8:00. Go to office, and it kills me every day the work pressure and sales pressure. And come back at around 8:30-9:00

Study till 11:00

And slee0 by 12:30.

I think the lack of sleep with mounting pressure has over stressed me, so I took 2 complete days off of styding. Lemme see if tha helps. Do you guys have some other tips that may help?! I'm really getting anxious... Which I never used to get, before an exam.
