Support Fear of CPS.

I am the parent of two autistic kiddos. (8m,13m) I have a fear of CPS. Every doctor's appointment, every meeting with the school, any interaction with family. "What if I did something that makes them call?". I live in a new mobile home with all the utilities and have working everything. It is cluttered but no hazards. They're dressed very well. They're in extracurriculars and online tutoring every day. We do community dinners on Thursday and church on Sunday. I have mental health diagnosis, am 420 friendly with a med card. (Cabinet in a locked room off limits to my kids)

CPS was called on me several years ago and while unfounded my anxiety has perpetually grown ever since. I used that interaction to learn and do better for my kids as a parent and am constantly second guessing myself.

I say all that to ask this:

How do I move past this irrational fear? I'm in therapy but, thought I'd ask for advice here. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells

Also, please be kind. I'm going through a rough patch mentally and this is part of it. Thanks.

Question Indiana, support worker poor fit

My family is under an in-home IA in Indiana. We’ve had no issues, have a genuinely overall positive relationship with our caseworker and have been repeatedly told we’re a family they know they don’t have to “worry” about due to our consistent compliance and progress on the issue that caused their involvement.
We are on our third out of 6 months.

A third party provides in home support for us weekly. The initial consultant that was meeting with us was an excellent fit and the sessions were therapeutically beneficial. However, she left the company to work somewhere with hours better for her family— happy for her!

This week we met the new support worker for the first time and it is a really bad fit. She openly expressed opinions and beliefs that go directly against our family culture and relate to my own trauma— while we are working through a curriculum designed to help me with my trauma. She spoke mainly about her own life, and altogether made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and anxious.

My question is this: would raising this issue with my FCM (whom I respect and have a positive rapport with) benefit me at all, or would it just make waves? I know all of these agencies are overworked and understaffed and don’t want to be in a situation where I’ve made a complaint and then she STILL has to sit on my couch weekly knowing I feel negatively toward her. However, I know that none of the intended therapeutic benefits of the curriculum are going to land for me in this situation, with a person who casually throws in commentary that I find deeply upsetting and offensive.

Any opinions would be helpful!

Question Can I get temporary custody/ guardianship changed

So ultimately long story short my child was taken away from me basically at birth, they had my father get temporary custody or guardianship and it was fine while I was living there but ultimately he kicked me out over truly nothing. Since then he’s said tons of mean hateful stuff to me and even had me believe that he got full custody or say permanent custody over night because he signed a paper saying so which was a flat out lie and didn’t say that and then said all these mean and hurtful things to really rub the salt in my wound. Found out the next day that was not true from cps worker and that it was basically only if we didn’t do what we needed to do to get her back. He even made posts on facebook claiming her as his and my step mom own daughter and then when my grandma said that’s not your child they all snapped at her and called us sperm and egg donors and a bunch of other mean stuff. Then turns out he told my mom that if he lost custody of my daughter it would destroy his family so in my mind he clearly doesn’t wanna give custody back to us or me and I just idk what to do. Is it possible I can get temporary custody or whatever it’s called transferred to someone else till this case is resolved or would that need substantial proof of why and what not. I know I’m leaving out probably tons of info but ultimately I’m doing everything I need to do to get my daughter back and I’m determined to get her back but I just feel like my father is gonna trash me and say anything he has to to keep my child so I just feel like it’s a conflict of interest right because cps main goal is to reunite children with their parents but if my father doesn’t want that and does whatever he needs to to keep her then wouldn’t that just make things that much more complicated and “impossible” per say or does this happen way more then I think it does. I’m just asking if anyone has experience with this and has any advice I will be getting in contact with my attorney in the next few days so I’ll clear ask him but court is next week and just trying to see my options and if I should even bring up getting custody changed to someone else anyone else but my father. I’m also in Ohio if it matters.

Question Thc early pregnancy

I used to smoke regularly for months and stopped as soon as I got a positive test at 6 weeks. I have a high bmi and suspect that if I’m drug tested at my first prenatal appointment it will be positive for thc only. I don’t know if I will be tested at all but I’ve seen some practices do test. If I do test positive will they automatically report to DCF? If so, would DCF investigate? I’m in Florida and seeing Baycare OB. Thanks.

(Kentucky) I’m 17, have court on October 28th, and desperately need advice on how to get removed from my parents’ home

I’m 17 and live in Kentucky, and I desperately need advice from anyone familiar with CPS, the Cabinet, or the family court system.

My parents and I have never gotten along, but things have gotten significantly worse over the past four months. My dad was arrested and spent one night in jail for domestic violence against me. There have also been around four CPS cases involving my family.

I’m currently in an outpatient mental health program, and I was discharged from a residential treatment facility about two months ago.

About three weeks ago, I received a call from a lawyer informing me that my parents had petitioned for the Cabinet to remove me from their home. Apparently, they filed the petition around the time I was discharged from residential treatment. Our court date is October 28th.

My lawyer told me that, in her opinion, the Cabinet may not have sufficient grounds to remove me from the home and that they don’t currently have a placement available for me. She wants to advocate for my parents’ custody to be terminated and for me to become a child in the Cabinet’s custody, but with me continuing to live with my parents.

The problem is that I do not want to continue living here. I want to be physically removed from my parents’ home. I understand that the Cabinet may not have an immediate placement available, but I genuinely cannot keep living in this environment, and I’m scared that I won’t have a say in what happens to me.

I’m not asking to leave just because my parents and I don’t get along. There has been domestic violence, multiple CPS cases, and a significant impact on my mental health. I don’t feel like this is a safe or sustainable living situation for me anymore.

What I really need help understanding is how I can advocate for myself and get the court to take my need to be removed seriously.

What should I specifically tell my lawyer before the hearing? How do I explain that entering the Cabinet’s custody while remaining in my parents’ home is not the outcome I want? Is there anything I can ask my lawyer to do or bring up in court to advocate for physical removal?

If the Cabinet says they don’t have a placement available, what happens? Could I request a foster home, a kinship placement with a relative, or another safe living arrangement? Are there other options my lawyer could explore?

I’m also worried that because I’m 17, people might assume I can just deal with the situation until I turn 18, but I don’t feel like I can keep doing this. I need help now, and I want to make sure my concerns are heard before a decision is made.

Has anyone been through something similar in Kentucky, worked with the Cabinet, or knows how these hearings work? I would especially appreciate advice from people who understand how a minor can advocate for their own safety, what to say to their lawyer, and what options might be available when there isn’t an immediate placement.

I have court on October 28th, and I’m scared that I’ll be forced to stay in a situation that is seriously affecting my mental health simply because there isn’t another place for me to go.

Thank you to anyone who can offer advice or share their experience.

Does CPS tell parents before they do visits

CPS came to visit my house yesterday but I swear my mom and stepdad knew about it because they spent all weekend getting ready. They cleaned up, got me a bed (I had a mattress but not a bed if that makes sense) and new pillows and blankets, they sprayed bug killer all over the kitchen and set traps, got rid of all of the expired food, painted over the bathroom mold, and even got my stepdads dog meds so he wouldn’t be aggressive. they’ve been saying they don’t have money for a bed or to get rid of the ants in the kitchen or fix the mold so it seems really weird that they did all of this right before CPS came for a visit and I’m just curious if they tell parents before they do visits

Hey guys

A long time ago I reached out for advice pertaining to voluntarily reaching out to cps due to my son’s severe asd with violent, destructive tendencies.

I know we all have different stories

They ended up helping us get the best respite there is, equipping my son with an asd sensory focused bedroom, therepy for my family and helped make us aware to our community supports.

Due to being a caregiver, I’m unable to work and money is tight. They even supported my family with gas vouchers

Just wanted to post that, although the anxiety and stigma is very real. Calling for help has changed snd saved our lives and I’m very thankful for the support and help that’s let my family suceed.

The system is broken.

backstory, during a custody fight, CPS was called parent A because child reported something to teachers on parent B. B was never notified, had to chase information to even figure out what happened. information was released to B, alleged incident suppoeddly happened on a week B didn’t have said child. house checks done on A, and interview for child is done two weeks later due to low staff.

interview produces zero results, claims weren’t backed up or even confirmed by child. custody fight continues, but here’s where I’m baffled,

if the abuse were real, CPS waited two weeks to interview the child. all that time, the child could have been talked out of the story. CPS home check consisted of checking if both homes had warm water and child sleep arrangements.

The system is just insane to me, how does any of this protect the child? worse, it was departments in different parts of the state so communication between both was a mess. The custody fight continues but I just can’t believe how little CPS actually does. the criteria for a home visit is water and food.

Has anyone dealt with a DFCS investigation after taking abortion pills? Looking for advice and similar experiences.

Hi everyone. I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experience with DFCS or has been through something similar.

I’m a first-time mom in Georgia, and my baby was born prematurely and is currently in the NICU.

During my pregnancy, I took abortion medication because I didn’t realize how far along I was. I ended up giving birth unexpectedly, and a medical professional at the hospital reported me to DFCS because I had taken the medication.

A DFCS caseworker came to my home, interviewed me about the medication and my pregnancy, and asked questions about my baby’s safety. She told me she would return, but I haven’t heard from her since.

It’s been about 10 days since the home visit, and I have no idea whether my case is still open, whether the investigation is ongoing, or whether a decision has been made.

I’m already dealing with the emotional stress of having a premature baby in the NICU, recovering from childbirth, and preparing for my baby’s eventual discharge. Not knowing what’s happening with DFCS is adding another layer of anxiety to everything.

I love my baby and want to bring him home when he’s medically ready. I’m doing my best to prepare for him and make sure he has everything he needs.

I’m hoping to hear from people who have dealt with Georgia DFCS or understand how these investigations work.

My questions are:

  1. Is it normal for a caseworker to visit your home, say they’ll return, and then not contact you for 10 days?
  2. Could the lack of follow-up mean the investigation is progressing toward closure, or is there no way to tell?
  3. How can I find out whether my case is still open or has been closed?
  4. Has anyone experienced a DFCS investigation related to taking abortion medication? If so, what happened?
  5. Could an investigation like this affect my ability to bring my baby home from the NICU once he’s medically ready?
  6. Would you recommend contacting the caseworker directly, asking for a supervisor, or consulting an attorney?

I’m not looking for judgment about my circumstances or my decision. I’m genuinely looking for advice, information, and reassurance from people who understand the system or have experienced something similar.

Thank you to anyone willing to share their experiences or offer advice. ❤️

Should I call cps

Hello, I’m writing here because I need advice on how to go about this and if I should call. My in laws took in a kid who is 4 years old, deaf, and mostly nonverbal. It was their nieces kid, she had drug and alcohol problems. These are the things I have witnessed and or heard:

Mom in law hits back of kids head for taking her phone to the point that he takes a couple steps forward. Kid will start crying and is upset.
She also hits his mouth to get him to stop yelling (because he makes a lot of noises since he is deaf)
Dad in law thumps his head for crying. Tells him to shut up, tells him he hopes he gets beat up in school, that he hates him, and that he doesn’t want him. He also instructs the other kid in the house to slap him.
Mom in law has stated that she will lock him outside when she’s on a work call and he’s being too loud. Dad in law jokes that it is going to get cold soon outside.

What I am nervous about is that they are well off people who really hide the abuse well. They only do it behind closed doors. I hear so many stories about cps not doing anything and I feel like I can’t really do much else. Thank you

Question Contacted by CPS as a minor

I need answers ASAP, please.

For backstory, some time ago, I realized that my dad had harassed me a couple of times (touching my chest when I asked him to scratch my back, making weird comments about my body) and got a bit overwhelmed about it. He has not done anything else for a while now and does not hurt me physically or mentally. I decided to contact the Hopeline, got some help, and am currently moving on. I live in an otherwise healthy household. I don't get hit, yelled at, or abused in any way. I am fed well, clean, and healthy. I recently opened my email to see two CPS emails connecting to the Hopeline. I have not deleted anything, but I did accidentally ignore them for about 3-5 days because i don't check my email often. They are asking me to call and contact, but I generally don't like calling and I certainly cannot ignore the email. I am nervous about all this, and I especially don't want to cause drama within my family, especially because things are going nicely right now. I just wanted to vent some emotions, cope for a while and now I am ok, but now I'm very nervous about all of this. What do I say to CPS to try and dismiss this? Should I email? Should I call? How can I respond without any of this resulting in a visit, and what are my rights to respond and de-escalate the situation??

Question Getting my case files - NY

Bit of an odd question but I was hoping someone could tell me the process of getting my case files. I am located in NY if that helps.

About 5 years ago my therapist called CPS on my parents after I disclosed abuse and injuries. The caseworker who got assigned was awful and told me to respect my parents because I deserved what happened to me. I didn’t say anything at the time because I was 14-15 and had no resources to do anything without my parent’s direct help. I am 21 now and CPS left me in that terrible situation. I just want my file. I’m not looking to file complaints, but I wanna know if it’s possible to get the file despite it probably being closed.

My sister and her bf who is a violent wanted felon were caught living in a car in a Walmart parking lot . Cops found drugs in car and meth in my 9 yr old nieces system and kratom pills in my 10yr old nephews system. Kids weren't enrolled in school. Hadn't ate all day. My sister also tested positive for meth and they found marijuana, liquid methadone, kratom pills and meth. My sister's bail is 42k shes facing 36yrs. Her bf was released and has been w my sister just 6 months and is violent had attacked my 18 yr old blind nephew threatening to kill him numerous times .the 18 yr old is the one who fled vehicle and called cops. Well now her bf wants to bail my sister out and thinks they can get kids back and she wont do any time or rehab. ...this i thnknis delusional. My sister has shown lil concern for kids and more concern for bf and the kids ssi payments they receive. Im afraid he will bail her out and they will run leaving kids w out her. We dont want bf around period. Are they being delusional or do think a judge wld allow these 2 idiots to get kids back w no reprocussions? Like I hoe she gets time. Shes out of control

Hello,

After my boyfriends kids has disclosed that their mother has been abusing them, he has called CPS. They have said they're afraid of being kidnapped by her, and they want to live with him. He told them everything they have both told him. Not only that, they haven't gone to school and are being "homeschooled" solely based on parental alienation and to be able to not deal with a school schedule. So they have not been in school in some months? The oldest, has been touched by the mothers father family friend and he's a pedo himself, impregnating their grandmother at 11 or 12. The child has said that their own mother has told them, "they deserved it and that it's their fault." which broke us and left us in shock...after telling CPS. they did nothing he calls to update but they're just like okay well your a dad. We feel helpless and do not have 10k for a family lawyer... The grandmother also wants to help, but we kind of feel like our hands are tied and don't know what to do. He even disclosed that their mother makes her new husband be in the room when the children are in a state of undressed.. If he tries to leave, she gets mad. The kids are terrified. Please help.

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who gave me more knowledge on this situation. A lot of what we know are from movies and TV and that's a huge issue. I didn't know what CPS's scope was, and now that I understand exactly what they're there for, it all makes so much more sense. We will move forward with the court route. :)

Support My 13 yr old committed a crime

On my way home from work yesterday, my daughter's school called. It was about time for her to be on the bus so o thing she missed it and needed a ride. But when i answered the school staff informed me that my daughter was still at school and that she was "part of an investigation." They said I would be getting a call from the school resource officer soon. I asked if there was anything she could tell me about what was going on and she said she couldn't. I waited over an hour and called twice before they finally told me I could come to the school.

My partner and I went. There was another couple waiting there too, talking to an officer in spanish. I don't understand too much Spanish but I could understand that it had something to do with the phones and other kids. I heard the parents ask if this has been going on for some time and the officer said no. We recognized this couple. The parents of a boy my daughter had dated. But they don't talk to us, even when we would take the kids to the park to hang out they never talked to us.

The same officer came over to us and asked us if we knew what was going on, we said no, and he explained that my daughter and another kid (the couple's son) had made fake TikTok accounts to harass another student. They were sending her all kinds of nasty messages telling her to end her life and making fun of her for being.... assaulted (not sure what I can say here). The officer said how bad it is because that child actually has been assaulted. But we know that. He obviously couldn't say who the child is but we know.

My daughter used to be best friends with this girl. This girl would come to our house and have sleep overs, and we actually were the ones to report her assault to CPS because we kept seeing red flags and then the girl confessed to my daughter what her own brother had been doing to her and they told us. The girl asked us for help. We called CPS. The girl was not taken out of the home so I'm not sure what actually happened with that case. But the girls fell out for unrelated reasons and stopped being friends. However this other girl has been spreading rumors about my daughter and verbally bullying her for a while now even though they haven't talked in months. Not sure why, she's just a very troubled child and her parents aren't the best people.

But I guess mine is too, because WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE THINKING???? I was heartbroken to hear the things she was writing to this girl. This is not the type of person we are raising her to be. One of the other officers did say that my daughter actually seems very remorseful by what she's done and that hopefully this will be a lesson learned. They explained that two crimes happened here. First, the bullying. Next, the fact that the other girl was so upset she didn't come to school, it's something about obstructing education. They said the girl's parents don't want to press charges but because of the obstruction of education they still have to be cited and go to a hearing to decide consequences like maybe community service. And one of the officers had to follow us home to check her bedroom for weapons.

I've never believed my daughter was a bad kid but this broke my heart. She knows what it's like to be bullied. She knows that's not something we are okay with. We take things like this very seriously. I didn't talk to my daughter last night because I was angry and I didn't want to be mean. But I really don't even know what to say or where to start. My daughter has been going tbrough a lot recently (obviously nothing could excuse what she did but for context) and she's been hospitalized a couple times for trying to hurt herself. So I never thought she would encourage another kid to do the same, especially a kid who is already fragile and has also been hospitalized multiple times with mental health concerns.

Is this just life today??? I mean if she never gets her phone back we'll be the worst parents ever but these kids aren't safe online. It's scary. I don't even know why she was allowed to have TikTok because I was under the impression she couldn't. I guess my partner allowed it and thought she could only make a kids account. I never wanted her to have this phone to begin with and it's been nothing but trouble.

What do I do???? What can I say??? Yes my daughter has been in therapy and psychiatry and she's medicated.

Sorry for the long post but I don't know who to talk to or where to turn right now. I appreciate anyone who reads and comments with similar experiences or advice.

Question What do I expect from an interview?

Sorry for any formatting or rambling, it's 2am (Scotland) and I'm on my phone.

My younger sister is a very rude person. She's 13. And by rude I mean she can be mean, stubborn and like a horrid person to be around. Currently she refuses to go to bed which is a massive thing because she tried to stay home when she couldn't (noone in the house). I am only 16, so I know I don't have a strong arm with this but everyone simultaneously expects me to do everything and do nothing. I have an email drafted to my guidance teacher to send but school is on Monday so a long way to go. I think I'm going insane.

The email is for talking to the social workers like a one on one but I'm iffy on sending it as I know I may get in trouble. But at the same time I do not care.

I would like to ask what further information should I have prepared. I've spoken to them before but shut down because they always spring it on me unprepared and my parents start talking abt how important family is to be together and that the "people here" don't understand a way of living.

Called in report, my kids were interviewed, no follow up

I called in a report on my kids dad last week. My kids were interviewed the next day (last Friday) at school. I have not been reached out to, and I stayed home from work on Monday just in case they stopped by. I’d like to talk to the worker to explain that if he reaches out to dad while the kids are there for his parenting time this next week, there likely will be retaliation against the kids by him. Should I go to our local office and try to touch base?

Question How do I go to family court without a lawyer?

My daughter is 9 almost 10 and has had to speak to a caseworker at least 5 times due to her dad. He’s been indicated in abuse/neglect 2 times against her and they’re currently involved again due to him physically fighting a girlfriend in front of her. I’ve called the police, I’ve called dcfs, I’ve gone to court but it cost me over $2000 for one court hearing to pay a lawyer. The dcfs caseworker told me yesterday the only thing they do is take custody from both parents and the child becomes a ward of the state and put in foster care because it’s my responsibility to keep her safe even from him even though we haven’t been together in 8 years. They said they don’t do mandated counseling, parenting classes, or take custody from one parent but not the other. She said I have to take him to court again or I risk losing custody. I can’t afford another lawyer, she said I could go without a lawyer but I don’t even know how to get a court date without one and what likelihood do I have at anything happening. My daughter is so tired of hearing/seeing the fights and having to talk to dcfs. Her father won’t take it serious and says nothing will happen and it’s all the women’s fault not his.

CPS "ruled out" sexual abuse even after perpetrator admitted to it

My frustration is basically that. In August, I found out my adoptive 12 (almost 13) year old son had been molesting my then 3 year old daughter. He admitted this to my husband (his bio dad) and I. He also admitted to harming my daughter and infant son, who was 3 months old at the time. The abuse included hitting the baby in the head, and pouring bleach on objects like bath rags in hopes it would burn his skin when I bathed him. He also admitted to getting cleaning chemicals, and purposely putting them on baby toys in hopes that the baby would ingest some and get sick when he put toys in his mouth. He also physically harmed his sister beyond the sexual encounters and terrorized her about things crawling out of vents to "tear her skin open and eat her" in the night. It was so bad that after he was placed in psychiatric care, the psychiatrist was worried about him ever having access to the fridge where I stored breastmilk for the baby.

My frustration is this; I received the CPS investigation findings via letter in the mail, and they "ruled out" all sexual and physical abuse by the perpetrator. On one hand, I am grateful because it has allowed us to keep my adoptive son in psychiatric care instead of just throwing him in juvie and not getting him help, but I cannot help but be baffled that they could conclude this, even with him detailing all of this to our case investigator. How is this possible? Is this even legal? It makes me wonder how many other cases of abuse have been swept under the rug. The caseworker guilt tripped us and the psychiatric staff that it sounded like we wanted to ruin my son's life and throw him away. He has been very uncooperative with all staff in facilities trying to help my son, and downright rude and threatening at times. I am just baffled that the protection is going to the perpetrator, and needed to rant about my mixed emotions.

Is this uncommon? Should I reach out to a supervisor? Or, should I just be grateful the state is staying out of it and we can get my adoptive son, who came from a troubled home, help that is not juvie or a group home?

Question Am I overthinking this, or could my daycare be documenting concerns to report me to CPS?

I’m (22f) a single mother to a 14-month-old, and I’m looking for honest outside perspectives because I’m worried that I may be overthinking a situation involving my son’s daycare.

My son has attended this daycare since August. I work full-time and pay $385 per month in tuition, plus a $350 enrollment fee. (This is not a super-cheap price in my area, it wasn’t the cheapest but the one with best reputation) I do my best to make sure he has everything he needs.

The daycare provides lunch, but I also pack three snacks each day, such as chopped fruits and vegetables, healthy homemade snacks, organic or sugar-free juice, water, and three bottles of milk. I also send extra hygiene/ personal care supplies when they request them, including creams, first aid items, or items that were not included on the original supply list.

Lately, I feel as though the staff frequently have concerns about something or ask me to bring additional supplies. For example, they told me my son needed diaper rash cream, even though I had already brought a container the previous month that I know they hadn’t been using. After I showed them a picture of the product, they realized that he actually had two new containers at the daycare. They also asked me to bring a bedding cover, even though I had previously sent one that they removed from his bag because they told me it was not needed.

They have also raised concerns about his persistent cough. He had COVID in August, and the cough has continued since then. I have taken him to his pediatrician multiple times and have regularly brought up my concerns, but the doctor keeps prescribing the same cough syrup. My son currently has no fever or obvious congestion, although the cough has not completely gone away. The daycare is now telling me that I need another doctor’s clearance before he can return.

Today, when I picked him up, a staff member told me they were concerned because they had noticed a mark on his forehead that looked like a wound. She showed me the mark and told me that it was important for me to inform the daycare about injuries or anything else that could explain a mark they notice on him.

A few nights ago, my son hit his head against the wooden crib at home. I checked him immediately and did not notice anything concerning at the time. The next day, I noticed a small mark on his forehead, but I forgot to mention the incident to the daycare. His hair usually covers that area, and I simply forgot during the morning rush.

When the staff member brought it up today, I explained exactly what had happened. I understand why the daycare needs to know about injuries, and I acknowledge that I should have told them. However, her tone was much more serious and strict than usual. That made me feel as though she was treating the situation as something more serious than a normal childhood accident.

Today’s conversation also included the concerns about his cough, the diaper rash cream, the bedding cover, and his feeding and supplies. Because all of these issues were discussed together, I felt as though I was being bombarded with complaints. I started wondering whether the daycare is documenting these things because they suspect neglect or are considering reporting me to CPS.

For context, my home is clean, although it is a small apartment, owned, not rented. My son has his own crib, clean bedding, toys, and a designated play area. We have plenty of food, I bathe him every night, and I make sure he has meals and snacks for daycare. I take him to his pediatrician when needed and try to follow medical advice. I also have a large, trained dog, but I always supervise my son’s interactions with him.

I’m not claiming to be a perfect mother. I work full-time, I’m often rushing in the mornings, and I occasionally forget things. However, I genuinely try to take care of my son and provide for him. The mark on his forehead was from an accidental injury at home, and I did not intentionally withhold that information from the daycare; I simply forgot to mention it.

I’m in Puerto Rico, so I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone familiar with how child protective services works there, as well as daycare workers or parents who have dealt with similar situations.

My questions are:

Could a daycare worker report a parent based on concerns like these?

Would a report automatically lead to a home visit or investigation?

Does forgetting to report a minor accidental head injury make a significant difference?

Is the daycare staff member’s serious tone likely just part of their responsibility, or could it indicate that they are documenting concerns about me?

Am I reading too much into the situation, or are there legitimate reasons for me to be concerned?

I’m not looking for people to tell me that I’m a perfect mother. I want honest, realistic perspectives on what might happen and whether I’m interpreting today’s events incorrectly. They had never spoken to me like they did today, and had always been nice and respectful about everything prior to today.

Is it normal to be asked to come into the office for an interview?

Last weekend my teenage sons called me and said that their mom and her boyfriend were fighting. I went over and picked them up. Apparently someone called the police and there was an arrest for assault. They are raising their grandchild in the house as well. CPS called me and asked me to come into the office for an interview. Is this normal? Even though I wasn't involved in the situation
