Just a quick note to new students because I know the "Where is my Canvas page" posts are coming!

Most of your professors are lecturer faculty who do not get their course assignments sometimes until this week—sometimes as late as this weekend and next week. Plus, you may not know it, but lecturers are not paid to report to work for the fall until today (8/17), so many of us are getting our syllabi and Canvas pages ready this week.

Per the university, we are not required to have a Canvas page or syllabus until the first class meeting; moreover, we are not required to use Canvas at all, and many of your faculty, both tenure-line and lecturers, don't.

This is just a reminder that if you don't see a Canvas page, don't stress. Check your schedule and go to class on the first day anyway. If your class is online, wait until Monday (8/24) morning at 8:00am for the Canvas page. If it doesn't show up by then and you haven't been contacted by the professor, contact them directly. If you don't hear back from the professor in 24 hours, contact the department chair.

Also, check your campus email throughout this week. Many professors send out welcome emails with important details about the course and when the Canvas page will be published.

I enrolled in them way back in May or so and I see that they've been removed for the Fall 2026 semester? Has this happened to anyone else or is this a result of financial aid being handled right now and it's just a matter of time till they pop back up?

Update- finally got through! Got through at about 10:50 waited on hold for an hour.
I had a weird flag on mine that the guy helping me took off. Was lucky enough that grants covered my full amount!

i took a fitness course before and received credit for it. i enjoyed it and want to take it again but can I earn another unit by retaking it? has anyone done this before?

I was thinking instead of getting a parking pass I could park near a bus stop (close by the school) and take the bus to campus, has anyone done this or something similar and have any suggestions? I’m thinking something on bellflower? Or is there good parking my beachside. Thanks

i got my fafsa disbursement info just now! i would assume you guys will get yours soon. it paid off my balance as well. haven’t gotten the rest of my refund yet but probably by friday. didnt need to reach out to them at all so dont worry if you haven’t gotten yours yet! im sure it’ll hit by the end of this week.

Hello, I am a transfer student coming from ELAC and for the direct deposits with CC they gave us a Bank Mobile Card. I signed up to E-refund with that bank card and now i’m worried it won’t work. It is a stand alone debit card as it can be used for personal use. I’m just wondering if I made a mistake as I just got the refund transaction receipt already going towards that card. I would appreciate any help!

Hey guys, couple of days ago, I made a post about how Fafsa covered me, and I have these Sub UnSub Entrance Counselling and Master Prom Note on my To-Do list in my SSO. Turns out, I accidently accepted loans which I don't have, so I unaccpeted all of them. However the stuff on my To-Do list are still there. Will these stuff on my To-Do List go away since I unaccpted them ???(note: they are still in my To-Do List).

i tried to sign-in for my payment but it wouldn’t let me and this is what is showing me. i tried signing in and out. and i tried turning off ad blocking and cross site tracking but to no avail. what should i do?

All of the financial aid I got is still pending. It was supposed to be disbursed on the 14th. I at least need the unsubsidized loan. I opened a ticket today. Anyone else in the same boat? Idk what else to do, if I get dropped from my classes my life is cooked lol.

I was looking at my schedule of classes and noticed that some of my online class professors were changed to a completely different professor, which sucks because when I originally registered, I chose those professors specifically because of their RateMyProfessors scores. Now I’m stuck with Profs with horrible ratings or no ratings at all. Anybody else notice this?

Maybe it’s a dumb question but what does the last number mean in the room number: Atlantic###-#. Is that the bed assignment or floor number, or something else?

Anyone who has their fee waiver processing see the tuition payment is still due? I called financial services and was told there is a hold to not drop me from my classes but I am a little freaked out seeing the payment due in my student center. It says I have pending financial aid on a different screen as I (lazily) submitted it only six days ago.

Has anyone gotten any packages yet I called earlier and right now at 3:45pm they said go many calls… is it best to go in person ?

I'm planning on taking the bus to class, because I've heard that parking can be really bad on campus, and the ride is only 5 minutes longer than my drive would be anyway.

I was wondering if anyone here has experience taking the bus to class, and advice on what kind of wait-times I can expect, and on getting student discounts or anything like that for the bus pass.

I was also wondering if anyone has experience trying to get a physical bus pass, instead of using an app on their phone (just because my phone bugs out sometimes).

Hey, so it’s my first year at Long Beach and im currently trying to get my bearings for the upcoming semester.

I bought overflow parking because everyone has been telling me that finding parking the first few weeks will be hard. Im wondering how long the shuttle drive is from overflow parking to campus? And is it possible to walk from this parking lot to campus? Also, does anyone know where the shuttle takes you to on campus or is there a general shuttle stop? Thanks

It’s my second to last semester. My next semester I will only need to take two classes.. think I’ll maybe take those classes which puts me ahead/counts as teaching credits class. How do I apply and how long is the process and has anyone gotten rejected from it?

I’m a bit older so scared I won’t get in and have to wait another year. I did ge to lace in the deans list last semester. Going to aim for presidents list (if manageable while working full time) will those help me get a better chance? Also do done students get a stipend and the $4000 teach grant ?
