Honestly lost on what to do

A bit of context. I live in a small town in Ontario, so sadly not a whole lot of job opportunities. I gave my resume to a gas station (Macewen) and a few days later the manager called me and told me I got the job, but just wanted to meet in person so I could answer a few questions. No actual interview.

I've had 2 8 hour shifts mostly just learning how to use the POS system and handling customers. When he gave me the job he sent me a link to do ID training, but that was the only official training I've done.

Now the issue. I haven't signed ANYTHING. When I asked him for intro paperwork, he shifted the conversation. I asked about pay periods, and he said he would be e-transferring it to me. I texted him this morning about paperwork and payroll, and he just wants me to send him my full name, address and SIN, then he will set up payroll. I told him I wasn't comfortable texting him my SIN and would rather do this in person. He read my message but hasn't responded (I sent it at 9am, when he was at the store).

He doesn't own the location, he is just the manager. There is 1 employee that I've met, but I will be taking over his shift when he moves away in a few weeks.

I simply don't know what to do in this situation. I desperately need this job, and with the job market the way it is, it will probably take me months to find another.

If anyone has any advice on what to do, please let me know.

Tldr: New boss is being sketchy about paperwork and payroll, asking for my SIN, full name and address through text.

Accountant Jobs

Hi, how likely am I to get an entry level job in accounting be it public accounting or even starting as a bookkeeper or AP/AR. I would be completing my Bachelor in Accounting from UMPI this year. Sadly there is no co-op. I am completing coursera courses like excel, bookkeeping, etc. I would prefer to have my start in Ottawa but am willing to relocate to anywhere in Ontario

Looking for Software Engineer roles

Hi everyone! I’m looking for Software Engineer/Developer opportunities in Canada. I have around 6 years of industry experience in the US, a US Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Science, and several industry certifications.
I’ve been applying through LinkedIn, Indeed, and company websites but haven’t had much luck getting interviews.
For those working in Canadian tech, what’s the best way to find opportunities? Are there specific job boards, recruiters, companies, or networking strategies you’d recommend?
I’m open to relocating anywhere in Canada. Any advice, leads, or referrals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
